  1. We had two major problems last year. One Pelini and his input to a angry secondary through out the year. Joe was a problem from the spring game. Most knew then we were in real trouble by watching him, his inability to do the reads, his poor passing mechanics, his happy feet and his tunnel vision. It was disaster waiting to happen. I posted it in April of last year that we had real problems. Unfortunately I did not see the spring game this year. But after talking with people that I respect and feel they know what they are doing, I have confidence we will be much better this year. I do worry about our two OOC early games. Both are seasoned teams that have played well on the road. It will depend on this teams abitility to come together under fire. Talk is cheap, we need to see it on the field. Wake Forest will be a major hurdle as far as I am concerned. I think we will com out of it with a win, if we do I only see one loss the rest of the season and that will be Texas Tech. We need momentum, the coaches have told these players just how tough WF is. We mangle them the ball will be rolling down field quickly. Either way, I think we see marked improvement from the team, and that is the major word TEAM. We did not have that last year.
  2. TT, Have you seen him play or kick. Are you going off the AA game or from real practice with a regulation ball. I heard he had problems with the size of the ball at the AA game. Prior to that he had set the cif record for PA and field goals. SC offered a scholarship among many other pac ten schools. I have never seen him do anything, but I have first hand knowledge that he hit at least 10 in a row from outside the 50 yardline prior to the cif play off game last year. Who knows the preasure may be getting to him. We will see down the road.
  3. Yadda Yadda Yadda, same garbage over and over and over and over, it is history, move forward and forget the past. Embrace the new and hope and pray it works out. Nothing we can do about it. Move on.
  4. Incorrect, Wanstadt was the first to be offered, but then was retained. That was the initail plan by SP. He had confirmation as most felt Wanstadt would be fired by Miami. Urban Meyers was a consideration, but he had no interest in Nebraska. Most top coaches had no interest in Nebraska... Too much preasure to win, firing a 9-3 coach, talent considered to be mid to low level in the Big 12. No matter what our thoughts of this program at that time, we were not considered to have the talent to compete with top 25 teams. We are lucky to have gotten the level of coaches we got. Who knows if they are good enought to return us to power, but they are what we have and we need to endorse them until they have proven they can or can not do the job. Way to early to tell either way.
  5. Former, Congdon is the cream of the crop. He will win games for Nebraska down the road from what I hear. Learning the ropes but my guess is he will be the kicker before the season starts. Most who have seen him play say he could go directly to the pros today. I doubt he will be here for four years unless a degree is a major concern for him or his family. I have not seen him play, but one of my employees has and said he has never seen anything like him. Carlo attends alot of Cowboy and Charger games and he swears he is as good as any pro kicker he has seen. We shall see how he turns out, but I think in the long run it will prove to be a very good move.
  6. Griz 37, I have never followed Montana, but would like to attend a game. Which game during the regular season is the best. I would prefer not to be in Montana in late October and after. Let me know if I need to wear snow snake repellant.
  7. For all they have added I suggest they continue just as they are. Then in a couple of days they will be gone and the boad will be back to intelligent conversation, with the kiddies at the little table in the kitchen. Mommy used to say children are to be seen, not heard. I think she was right.
  8. That explains it. These new additions are all from the star ship. Please return to your leader, please send them away.
  9. Wow if we only had Lord and Dailey back we sure would have great QB's. Bernard, I think I hear your mommy calling you. Run along now you have peed in everyones cereal....
  10. Frank was fired for one reason and one reason alone. He failed to do what his boss told him to do. The number one thing in college football is recruiting. He was told over and over to focus on recuriting. Pederson did not care about upgrading the staff, he wanted a recruiter to bring in the talent. Frank felt wins were more important than recruiting. Franks main erro was misjuding his bosses desires. If you go to the Ohio Boards you will hear how Frank is recruiting year around now. How they are using him as a recruiting tool. Frank learned his lesson I think. But he was just to stubborn to do what he was told. Many boosters wanted Frank gone for the very same reason. Embarassment at Texas, Kansas State and Missouri only deepend the gap between the big buck boosters and Frank. Had he put together a class like BC brought in he would have kept his job. Sales is the life blood of any business. He just did not comprehend that.
  11. I disagree on Kansas, I think they are the real dark horse in the conference. The fat man can coach and will have them ready to play this year, who ever it is. Texas was lucky to get out of Lawarance last year with a win. They will be better this year.
  12. Our line was the strenght of the team last year. Way better than anyone thought. Wagner and BC are offensive line gurus. They know what they have and what they need. Back to topic. Cory Ross is one of the best backs Nebaraska has ever had. He just trys to hard at times. Given the line and the other stars some of the former players had he would be right up there with our best backs. Ethics, dedication, loyalty, motivation, leadership are what Cory brings to the table. He will be the man this year as the Freshman learn from a true team player. I think his yards will be the same rushing, but his recieveing yards will go up dramtically. I look for him to be all Big 12 no question. He has become my favorite Nebraska running back of all time. He is doing it when the others most likely would not have even came to Nebraska. There is no quit in Cory Ross. Got to love the attitude.
  13. I would prefer to think of the positives on this matter. I think our staff will be here for the duration. Mangino, due to a heart attack is likely. Snyder will never be shown the door. He will go away when he is ready. Christ he took the worst team in college football and made them a National Contender. McCarney has done a temendous job with Iowa State. Barnett if he does not do well next year, and he won't as his recruiting is in the barrel, will be gone. Pinkel is the only one in jeopardy due to coaching this year IMHO.
  14. I agree with lost finger. Beck is young and tying to impress. I think he has the tools or this staff would not have recruited him. I doubt he redshirts as there is another QB waiting in the wings. After Freeman I think we will start to see redshirts at QB. Way to early to make any decession about his ability or worth. He is a true Freshman and by the time the games start could develop into a million dollar baby. But remember he is learning a very difficult system. Have faith, he does not need to read or hear negative coments at this time, and trust me some of these kids read these boards. They can have a major effect on these young athletes.
  15. Eric, Blackshirt. Are we paying points for trolls or something. How did we get all of these in such a short period of time. I have been gone for a little over a week and in honesty the site has went way down hill. I have no problem with different ideas, and lord knows I have problems with Former, but he never attacks the players or the program. If some of these so called fans continue to post, I think I and I would guess others will leave this site. I hate to say that as this is the best site around.
  16. Your main coment was about his past, not his name. Could careless if he has a 100 names. There are many on here that have other names on other boards. The fact is you attacked him for his past. He has been corrected (although I do not feel he did anything wrong). It is time to move on. I am sure there is something in your past that you may not be happy about. Lets post that and we can all discuss it. Glass House??? Got Stones?????
  17. Show me the fact that you gave us. I have read your coment and I see no statement of fact. Attack yes.
  18. Personally from what I have read, most seem to be trolls. We shall see who the real fans are.
  19. Don't some of you have better things to do than attack Nameless. Leave the guy alone. This really gets old. New to the board and start attacking. Really makes people want to welcome you.
  20. Pittsburgh improved over the year last yar. Their number one problem is a new coach. How much change to the offense and defense he makes is the question. I would imagine he will install his ideas and this will hurt Pittsburgh. I noticed today that some are picking Wake Forest over us. I think that is the toughest game until we play Tech. Been said before. No need to tell me how stupid I am. It does appear this team is coming together better than last years. Cohesive is the word I think. I think it is very possible to be 5-1 after the road trip to Baylor, but I just do not feel we will get by Texas Tech this year. I honestly think we have a better chance of beating Oklahoma than Tech. I worry alot about Kansas this year to. Either way the only thing that is important to me is to see the improvement needed to become competitive on a National level again. I think it is too much to ask for a contender for another couple of years. But the talent is coming in and if they are as good as porjected we should win the North.
  21. I could care less about noise, fans, stadiums. I want talent, wins and respect. I don't want to listen to the SC fans talk about how bad our team is. I don't want to listen to Oklahoma fans running their poo on us. I respect domination, loyalty, determination, confidence whether it be a young player from Maine, Nebraska or Montana. Montana is a great team as proven by their past record. I thank their fans for coming to this site and tying to teach us a little about their stadium. From the information they have provided it appears they are right. Give credit where credit is due. If we have numbers to prove them wrong post them. We have never been considered a tough crowd. Just a great football venue. A great place to watch a game. Nebraska has never been considered a hostile or vicious place to play. A place where the team may hand your butt to you but the fans are considered knowledgeable and good sports. Personally I like that reputation.
  22. Why in the hell did I start this. Give credit where it is due. Something Nebraska fans never seem to understand. We whine when we are not in the top 25, even though we do not belong in the top 50. We whine east coast bias, west coast bias, media bias. But let a kid make a statement he doe not think he will be intimidated and we come down like a bunch of banshees on him, his program and now it seems anyone his team has played. I have attended games at Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, Clemson, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Alabama, BYU, Notre Dame, Penn State, USC, UCLA, Wisconsin, Rose Bowl, Holiday Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Cotton Bowl and a number of other places besides Nebraska. In honesty Tennesse was the noisest, LSU the unfriendliest, Cotton Bowl the dirtiest, with Orange Bowl close second. Our stadium is good and we have good fans, but there are noisier places. I have never been to a Montana game, but I will make an effort to go this year. Our intimidating stadium was created by major butt beatings and few losses at home. Normally because we had a creampuff schedule at home for many years if the truth was known. Fans, noise, or stadiums do not win games. Todays athletes understand one thing, they are intimidated by one thing. Bigger, better, faster, smarter, stronger, meaner, well coached athletes. If you do not have those things it does not make a tinkers damn how noisey you think you are. Win the games like we did in the past and we will have an intimidating stadium. We are not there yet, but could be in the next couple of years..
  23. Thanks Grizzly fans, and welcome to our board. We have a great group of guys and girls on here. Some are just a little over protective of our team. Thanks for the history lesson on Montana. I have never attended a game there so the information is much appreciated. I think some here and possibly the reporter took these comments out of context. But what the heck he got some fans cranked up. All is good in the end.

I agree also, But I also think Taylor is a better deal than what they expected. We will see how it turns out down the road, but it appears he has the tools to do the job and the maturity that this team needs now. Harrison I am sure has the tools, but not the maturity under fire. Taylor will get that this fall. If he does the job as well as indicated from reports from practice, I think he will start for the whole year. Having him redshirt only does one thing. Keeps him off the field for the year. He will not learn on the scout team, and if he is good enough he will be gone in two years either way. If he is not as good as Gantz by the end of the fall practice, I doubt he will pass him during the year. If that is the case, he is not as good as advertized so there for you lose nothing anyway. You already have another elite 11 QB in the system, keep em coming.
