We're three cool guys who are looking for other cool guys who want to hang out in our party mansion. Nothing sexual. Dudes in good shape encouraged. If you're fat, you should be able to find humor in the little things. Again, nothing sexual.

Frost has lost a lot of heartbreaking, very close games.

Last night and Illinois were definitely sweatfests but I'm enjoying the ride. Our talent level is obviously depleted but he's fixing that and we're definitely headed in the right direction.

  9. AFC always seems to send a bunch of crappy teams to the playoffs.

    1. mrandyk

      mrandyk

I was just talking to a friend about this. The past 15 years the AFC has been so top heavy. 1 or 2 teams with a shot at winning the title and then a bunch of garbage.

    2. Cdog923

      Cdog923

Since Brady and Belichick got together, I think there have only been 6 different AFC teams to make it to the Super Bowl: the Pats , Steelers, Colts, Ravens, Raiders and Broncos. On the NFC side, there have been 12 in that time frame.

  10. Alex Trebek is a real pro.  Some things are just incontrovertible facts.

I think really cold temperatures feel warmer than 10+ because you start to not feel it as much. Probably the body's coping mechanism for the insanity you're putting it through, although you die faster.

It's a stroll in the park compared to the CDT. I've been thinking about doing that or the AT or PCT.

I could probably just do the CT in a month without having to quit my job.. Also considering the John Muir Trail.

    3. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

I'm more of a short day hike person. Haven't done any trails over about 4 hours. We did snowmobile about 60 miles of the CDT on New Years Day about 20 years ago. Between Grand Lake and Hwy 14 at Sleeping Elephant mountain. I wouldn't recommend hiking it in January

    4. The Dude

      The Dude

Looks like most people do the John Muir thru-hike in 3 weeks.   So that's probably more realistic.

4-6 weeks to complete the Colorado Trail.  I'd probably be closer to 6 weeks.  Heh

  18. Anyone think Northwestern is going to win the conference based on the idea that it's difficult to beat a team twice?

    1. Show previous comments  11 more
    2. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

The tougher to beat a team the 2nd time thing is probably harder to debunk with Nebraska fans because we have shown a propensity of playing much worse in second game same season matchups. OU 78?, Washington Holiday bowl and Wiscy CCG games all immediately come to mind. I can’t think of any that have gone our way.

Its also been my experience with youth hockey games. I can’t count the times a team would beat another in the seeding rounds only to lose to the same team in bracket play. It’s all anecdotal but.....

    3. Moiraine

      Moiraine

      Just a thought...

Even if the winner of the first game is 23-14 (62%) it can still be true that it's tougher to beat a team in the 2nd game. If it wasn't the record in the 2nd game should be more lopsided. They've already beaten that team once and they only beat them twice 62% of the time.

    4. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

So, 1st game losing teams improve from 0-37 to 14-23 in ccg rematches and from 0-22 to 15-7 in bowl game rematches. Pretty definitive that it is much tougher to beat a team the 2nd time.

Michigan will find a way. Army is just so different to play against. Against everyone else, Michigan can give up 3 yards per play and get off the field. Army changes the game by smart 4th down usage.

I miss the feeling of roasting a presumably 'good' team. I'm trying to think of the last time it really happened. Might have to go back to 2010 when we ran all over Missouri? The final score was relatively close but that game got out of hand fast.

    3. B.B. Hemingway

      B.B. Hemingway

Maybe the Cousins/Bell Michigan State team we best 24-3. That was complete dominance, weren't they ranked 7th or so?

    4. Enhance

      Enhance

@B.B. Hemingway I think you're right, and I don't believe it has happened since.

Both of those Nebraska victories came the week after our opponent had won a big game against a top 10 opponent, too. I believe Missouri had beat Oklahoma at home the week before playing us in 2010, and then MSU beat Wisconsin the week prior to losing to us in 2011.
