  1. At a certain level, what you say makes sense. Perhaps it is semantics. Perhaps not. If by expect, a conference championship each year you mean to hope for -- and deeply hope for... to have as a goal ..sure. That is me too. If by expect you mean it is the birthright of the Husker fan to win championships, that we are the best program out there and always must be the best, and success is defined as having been achieved only when we literally are the best... then, well no. There are many great programs out there... we are, perhaps, numbered among them (certainly we are historically). But, championships/repeat championships/domination is/are few and far between in the college football world of today --- there is a great deal of such parity --- to "expect" seems to me to be a bit presumptuous. Unless, again it is semantics. If we can say that it is equally reasonable for the Ohio State , the Penn State, and the Wisconsin fans to say the same thing (We are OSU, We are Wisconsin, We are PSU... we expect to win the Championship)-- and it is nearly as reasonable for the Iowa and Michigan State fans to say the same thing --- if that is the case ... we are on the same page and the only difference is semantics. I think you are correct though, when you say "When our expectations drop as a fanbase, then the money goes away, players stop wanting to come to Nebraska" --- or, at least, fan expectations are a contributor. Too low a fan-base expectation is indeed a problem. But so too is too high a fan-base expectation. I’d contend that unrealistically high a fan expectation may have a greater impact (a negative impact) on the team than too low an expectation. In any event, I am not calling for low expectations in the absolute sense — just lower and more realistic expectations in the relativistic sense. Or... maybe that is not as accurate as saying this... I am calling others to maybe have more patience in expecting (in the literal sense of the term expect) championships. We have had to climb from a pretty big hole... we are climbing, sure, and it is reasonable to hope... but not expect (literally). Yes... We are Nebraska — but we are not the only talented team in the conference and have no more a legit warrant to expect the conference championship than an array of others. That said, no one has a greater warrant than us. We have a shot What would you think if Bo said that kind of garbage to his players? If you don't expect to win, just stay home.
  2. The obvious choice would be Shawn Watson.
  3. Only not as good as what The Blackshirts are used to smothering.
  4. Not gonna lie, I stopped reading your post because all the exclamation points were raising my blood pressure.
  5. The Blackshirts have b*tch-slapped much better QBs than Persa in recent years. He's going to be put through the wood chipper.
  6. That's right! I forgot about that guy. I even remember responding to that thread. Did some searching. Here's a post from zeek, who talks about the Rose Bowl, but seems to mention it as secondary to the BCS National Championship game several times. LINK Here's a post from Coqui (OSU fan) showing the same goals I listed above, with MNC first and Rose Bowl second. LINK I can't find that thread you're talking about, papersun, but I know I posted in it. So far what I've found doesn't support the goals in the order I listed, and I can't find the post on BuckeyePlanet where I got this order, either. This is turning into a boondoggle. My apologies if this thread is based on a bad recollection. I believe that sentiment does exist in some circles. I remember towards the end of the season reading an argument between two Hawkeye fans about which was more important.
  7. Oh, come on. We're talking about something ten spots down on the list of reasons a person wouldn't be hired. REAL candidates all walk in wearing interview-appropriate clothing, are groomed, smell clean, etc. These things are important, sure, but they're not the MOST important thing. Visual perception is among the least important things when hiring the most qualified candidate, and someone who hires based on looks foremost is going to get fired from Hunter's company so fast their head will spin. Hunter doesn't do that himself. He wouldn't have a job if he made his conclusions based on looks. Oh come on you didnt even read the whole post. Did I say a person would solely get hired based on looks???? No I didnt. I never said one outweighed the other, but to say that hiring someone based on a resume alone is crap. Just like saying hiring someone based "only" how they look is crap also. Its the whole package knap, you know that. A killer first impression doesnt hurt either. We can take this tangent out to the nth degree and nail down exactly what a hiring process entails, but that won't help us in this discussion. The reality is, whether we're talking about hiring or gauging the character of a quarterback we've never met, basing your decision solely on visual cues is foolish. Are you really arguing that it isn't? Im basically saying that judging somebody solely by a piece of paper is "foolish." Go sit in the corner.
  8. Er.. aside from maybe last year I don't remember many people outside of bama giving a flying flip about Auburn - Alabama.
  9. Wouldn't mind trying it. I've lost about 70 lbs in the last 7 months just by eating better and jogging. I've kind of hit a plateau. I'm going to incorporate some pushups, pullups, and swimming into my routine before I put a bunch of money into something like that.
  10. Good lawd that's a big bear.
  11. Creative = Paul Simon Flashy = Art Garfunkel's afro
  12. That and other instances such Q getting kicked off the team (when he was arguably our best offensive player) and Sanders getting shown the door or, er resigning, suggests that Bo has a low tolerance for shenanigans. Let's hope anyways. And let's hope this clusterf**k at OSU can be a learning experience for every program. Unless you're in the SEC, then you can do whatever you please.
  13. It's been a long, long, LOOOOOOOOOONG time since we've had an O-line up to snuff. At least by Nebraska's standards. I'd say 10+ years.
  14. Taylor Martinez must have done horrible things to your mother.
  15. My source tells me that husker B-rent loves these kinds of threads.
  16. It makes it a lot easier to execute if the OC is good at disguising what he's running. I don't care how many dimensions we have, just learn to hide what we're running and execute.
  17. I think the reason no one really cares about Cody leaving is he is a huge bust. Although I agree the butthurt reactions to the unfounded rumors surrounding Taylor were beyond absurd.
  18. I've seen the 90s wins once each and have never seen the 70s wins. I don't see the point of watching games I know the outcome of.
  19. Seriously????? Did you think the same thing about DTray or Kody Spano. Spano never played a down, I suppose you call him a quiter too. Where did Green fail to do what he was recruited for??? He is technically 4-0 as a starter, he saved our bacon when we needed him too. I highly doubt Kellogg wouldve been able to beat ISU and CU. If he didnt give us three years of service, how is he leaving us high and dry??? 4-0?? Baylor - LOL, it's Baylor, and he almost lost it for us in the second half. Oklahoma - He was benched right away. ISU - LOL, it's ISU, and Burkhead was the best QB on the team that day. Colorado - LOL, it's Colorado, and Burkhead was the best QB on the team that day. That 4-0 stat really means nothing.
  20. In the spirit of the thread I vow to watch < 1 hour of TV until the start of football season. The only reason I was watching TV anyways is because the Bulls were in the playoffs.
