  1. Jumps around like a madman (which he is) before special teams plays . . . pumps up the crowd . . . etc. I'm not condemning it, I think it is entirely appropriate for a defender to act that way. It's a great mindset. I was just saying that he's more vocal than Asante and probably more of a self-promoter/talker. While doing that stuff does help him and he's doing it to make himself more pumped up, it helps the team also because they can feed off his and the crowd's energy. Not to mention when he's pumped like that he is capable of making some big plays on D and special teams. Calling someone a "self-promoter" seems to have a negative connotation.
  2. I don't know what's funny about it. What makes people think they have the right to yell something like that to a coach of their own team? There's so much talk about how booing the team is a no-no, but yelling "you suck" is OK - more than OK, its commendable? Sooner or later, those that are running their mouths need to just grow up. Now, before you tell me "Its OK to boo/heckle/shout at coaches because they get paid, and the players don't," please don't feed me that junk either. Its a team. Treat it as a team. Either cheer for the team or don't.
  3. the fact that people are condoning/encouraging this crap makes it very clear that some nebraska fans are complete idiots.
  4. And he just led the O to its first TD of the day. Hard throw, confident throw.
  5. You know what? Its time. This offense needs a spark. We're not gonna get it from a WR. Helu is great, but he can't do it all himself. Our O-Line is not good, so give a great athlete a chance. Maybe the most encouraging thing I saw is that he's way more willing to take a downfield shot than Lee. Granted, there weren't many completions deep, but we need to at least attempt to stretch the field. Lee doesn't seem to want to. Put your "hand-in-face" smilies up all you want, but this is my opinion. Give the O a shot in the arm.
  6. Honestly, I don't think 4-5 WRs is too many in this class. I know its a small class altogether, but WR is a huge position of need, as is RB. Hill, Sasser, Swigert, Reese, and Carter would be a fantastic haul and one that any team in the country would covet.
  7. Funny. I looked at the pictures and enjoyed it, because its still Nebraska Football.
  8. Wow! Is this a new development? I had never heard this name or seen him on a visit list up to this point. Looks great!
  9. First of all, the "Greatest Fans in College Football" thing is an opinion, and one that I think is a little conceited, actually. The word "classiest" does not appear on the entrance to Memorial Stadium, it is something that some fans call themselves. (As stated earlier) If you really are that classy, just let others say it about you, thank them, and be done with it. A classy person never actually calls himself classy. He just is. NU needs to get its students back into the atmosphere at football games. If there were more ways for them to get involved, or if they were closer to the actual game, things like this would take care of themselves. But that's a whole different ball of wax. Anyway, college students are college students. If you want to tell them to not do the hand gesture, tell them to their face. Going to the message board to complain about it won't accomplish anything. Actually it's a fact. Actually, its not. A fact is something that cannot be disputed, meaning it is absolutely true. Fact: NU fans are great fans. Opinion: NU fans are the greatest in college football. Just because its on the outside of our stadium does not make it fact. Lee Corso saying it on Gameday does not make it fact. Having 300+ consecutive sellouts does not make it fact. Florida fans think they are the greatest. Michigan fans think they are the greatest.

  11. His thread from the other section should be moved here.
  12. why'd you have to go and ruin a nice thread like that?
  13. I agree with this, but I don't think he'd be too upset if he played, either.
  14. I don't believe I quoted any points to refute, nor did I call out any poster. I was simply stating an observation from reading different articles and posts from this and other message boards. If you don't believe it involved you personally, there's no need to ask me if I'm calling you out. Eh. You're speaking directly about parts of a conversation that Junior and I were having, quoting something he said in response to something I said, to which I directly responded. So it's pretty logical to assume that I'm one of those "some" you're speaking about. And to be clear, I'm asking because you're either misunderstanding what I'm saying or misrepresenting what I'm saying, and the conversation would be better if that was cleared up. You are free to assume what you want, but unless you see something I don't, I did not mention you at all in my post. I think you're being a little too defensive about your opinions and are over-analyzing what I wrote.

  16. Besides Tim Tebow and Florida, Texas Tech probably got more media (ESPN) coverage than any other team. Mike Leach is ESPN's favorite coach, and everyone loves to see 60 points scored every game. Tech appears to be an up and coming team (along with Okie St.), and NU is still an unknown. Hopefully that changes during (of after) this year.
  17. Preseason rankings outside the top 10 = pointless
  18. I think some are way over-reacting to the idea above in bold. What is so wrong about wanting to play early? Think about the following: Many top recruits don't have a strong allegiance to a college team Most top recruits want to play early Most top recruits are NOT headcases, as some presume Imagine - A top notch recruit is choosing between two schools. Team A historically gives freshmen PT. Doesn't necessarily start them, but they see decent field action. Redshirts happen either if the player needs to add some pounds/strength/speed, or is just way too raw. Team B historically redshirts freshmen. After the redshirt year, most of that class does not see significant field action until RS Soph year or later. Which do you think the recruit would choose? Until some newcomers see some significant PT, I truly do not believe Bo and Co. will be able to land the top-notch recruits that many other schools do. Winning program or not, kids want to play. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I like walk-on players too, but we HAVE to stop acting as if they single-handedly brought NU to 5 National Championships. A 4/5 star rating behind a recruit's name does not automatically make him a head case.
  19. For the record, I believe Linda was Coach Callahan's assistant also, and did an equally great job working for him. Congrats on the marriage - enjoy it! (Oh, and the bachelor party too)
  20. Is there something about Green that makes him a focus for you, or are you just saying that you hope we have a QB who is so good the coaches have to play him? What if that guy who is so good is Zac Lee? Or LaTravis Washington? Or Kody Spano? Is there something about Green that makes him more important to play, or is it just that you want a good QB? Seeing it like that, I guess its not just Cody. I would love to see any true freshmen play a bit, because that means we have some great athletes for many years to come, as well as the present. Not saying I want an all freshmen team or anything, just that we don't need to redshirt all of them. Speaking specifically of Cody Green, what I was referring to was that the inexperience he faced in the spring could very well be dwindling because he was here early and learned many things he otherwise would not have if he didn't come early. I'm thinking he knows that its a huge advantage for him and that he's developing into a good leader for the younger crew.
  21. Wow. Scroll all the way to the right and there's a great pick going on.
