  1. I know its easy for me to say this being a Hokie, but you guys are awesome people. I talked to many, many of you, particularly those at the bars last night. I wish all of you the best of luck and I hope you win out, you were a tough opponent and it was an honorable loss. You scared me, and the rest of VT. I don't think we could have handled ourselves that well if we were in your shoes. I hope we meet again in the future, you've been my favorite out of conference game in recent years. I hope all of you have a safe trip home, and best of luck, in all sincerity, go Huskers! I'll be rooting my heart out for you guys until we meet again!
  2. It's all in response to your hospitality last year. I'm actually nervous to see if we can return it in the same quantity you provided it.
  3. This tailgate we're having is the first one organize by the town, so it should be interesting. The town organizes some events and fairs downtown in a similar fashion, so I have high hopes, the town of Blacksburg is really cooperative with VT. I'll have a burger downtown for you haha.
  4. I've noticed several of you have made it here, safely I presume. I've seen some RV's and it gets my blood pumping everytime because it reminds me how close we are to game day! I hope the rest of you have a safe trip out here and I'll see y'all at the tailgate tonight!
  5. By thinking that it's not a factor is just foolish...our stadium was specially designed to amplify noise, we may have 65,000 fans in there, but it's much louder. Especially when teams come near our south end zone, its deafening, you can't make plays, no one can hear you. I see teams use all their time outs by the end of the 1st quarter all the time. No matter how well you prepare, you can't make yourself hear better, and if you can't hear the QB's snap count or cadence, then you use time outs or someone doesn't do what their suppose to and this is where Beamer Ball takes over. Virginia Tech has been awarded the biggest home field advantage according to Rivals.com based on several reasons, our fans are extremely passionate, the noise, and the isolation of our stadium makes it harder for away team fans to travel too. We also are the 2nd loudest stadium according to ESPN, 2nd to LSU's Tiger Stadium, which holds about 30,000 more, so person for person Lane is louder, hands down. Nebraska has never played in Lane, it's no surprise they don't comprehend the noise factor. But by trying to tell your team not to worry about it makes you more likely to lose. It's damn loud and it's our 12th man! I'm not trying to harangue or anything, just starting convo and showing my Hokie pride. I really am looking forward to the game and I am eager to have conversations about football as a whole with those coming to town this weekend. We're nice people and have a great town here, please explore and keep your business local!
  6. Toot toot! Toot toot! Someone is tooting their own horn! True we lost...but it was a pretty normal atmosphere. There have been Facebook events created in response to Little Bo-Peeps comments encouraging us to get crazier, we'll take anything as fuel for this week. I can't sit still in my seat, I'm too excited!!!
  7. That's because that's the public board, we have a paid subscribers board. This way we can keep the idiot out haha. As far as noise in Lane Stadium goes, this sums it up best... "I don't care what you saw on TV or YouTube; words cannot describe what was taking place. The stadium was literally shaking. My ears hurt. And even as a lowly photographer, I was absolutely terrified, and the game hadn't even started. It was the most unbelievable display of fanhood I had ever witnessed, in professional or amateur sports." -Boston College Photographer - 2007 BC game ...I was at that game, it was pretty accurate as far as a description goes... You don't have to pay, there is a public board, but the paid gets you more than a board, its get some inside news and all. The public board is significantly more chaotic than the subscribers one...I wish we had a better forum than what we currently have at TSL, I'm a webmaster and have made forums like this, maybe I should make my own site and use this as a forum...

  9. Yes, everyone come to this!!! I'm sooooo excited! I really wish it were a night game! I really hope there are plenty of Huskers there, it would be sweet to see a good showing of both teams. I hope all of us Hokies are nice to you, but I'm sure there will be that one jerk out there, well, we don't like him just as much as you find it annoying.
  10. I get chills watching those videos...it's one of my favorite parts about college football! It really is an electric atmosphere, even more so at night (but that's true everywhere). Our alum can be kind of lame when it comes to Enter Sandman, so we've been selling shirts making fun that on the front say "Start Jumping" and on the back "You can sit when you graduate." All Nebraska fans please be sure to come to our (Not VT, not Nebraska, both, our!) tailgate this Friday! It's right in downtown Blacksburg. I'm excited and I hope to see plenty of Huskers there! Here is the official article on it... http://www.collegiatetimes.com/stories/14190
  11. Nice win over the weekend. Please dont take out the Sabanitis on us... Haha, we got a good deal of it out of our system, but we've been told to continue treatment until mid-January Is there any chance NU could face VT in a BCS game? I know that they are conference matchups, but I dont recall if the ACC gets a Big XII opponent in any of them? Hmm, I'm assuming we make it to at least the Orange Bowl this year. Winning the ACC guarantees a spot in the Orange Bowl. The Orange Bowl gets the first at-large bid this year. Personally, I'm hoping to play Texas!

  13. I would like to second that. I did not travel to Nebraska but I only heard 100% positive stories about the quality of fans and the class you demonstrated to us and yourself during the game last year. We welcome you with wide open arms to our beautiful town to enjoy what will be a fantastic football game! I live right behind the stadium and will be having a tailgate and hope some Nebraska fans stop by, I'll have food for them! If you're in town for a few days, here is what I would suggest you do! For local cooking, about a 25 minute (beautiful) drive from campus, less than $20 gets you all you can eat meat and southern style cooking delivered to your table. This is known as the best restaurant on the Appalachian Trail. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Revi...e-Virginia.html For a nice, leisurely hike to a beautiful waterfall, check out the Cascades, bring $3 cash for parking and enjoy! http://gilescounty.org/cascades.html There is of course downtown Blacksburg which will be lined with bars and restaurants, this is all located on Main Street just off campus. I look forward to talking football with y'all this weekend and drive safe, wear sun screen, I'm still recovering from the Marshall game on Saturday
