  1. It pays to be friends with Gopher season ticket holders. Just got 4 tickets to the Season opener. I stopped going because of Frost, but hoping Rhule can get us a big W!

      GSG

Geez Louise. The cheapest ticket on StubHub is $114 in the nosebleeds. Who the hell is paying that?

    2. Minnesota_husker

      Minnesota_husker

Our tickets were still 100 a piece but they are about 30 yard line and have physical seats(not a bench).

The prices will all go down. Gopher fans know husker fans will come up. Honestly would suggest to buy day of.

  2. For a second, I thought things had gotten so bad that even Huskerboard had entered the Transfer Portal.

  3.  anyone been to the Omaha Zoo in the last few weeks? We are visiting family this week and planning to go. What should i expect?

So I 'think' you need a reservation at least a few days in advance, so you may want to call and double check now before you get there. Masks are required for all indoor exhibits and recommended for the outdoors as well. And then they're limiting the overall # of guests I believe but with the reservation that shouldn't be an issue.

We sent several weeks ago and TBH it didn't really feel that much different. Just a little less busy but my family and I have almost always gone during non-peak hours/days.

  4. Just saw PJ Fleck at Kinkos getting "2020 Co-National Champion" and "Row the boat to an undefeated season-2020" banners printed...

aTm is really hoping they can add another year to their wall of shame.

  5. Rashod Bateman(WR- MN Gophers) has decided to opt out of the 2020 College Football season and focus on the 2021 NFL Draft. Huge hit for the Gophers.

@BigRedBuster Bateman is a first-round prospect that doesn't want to risk getting COVID or further injury for a season which or which may not happen.  It makes more sense to start planning on the next step in his career instead of messing around with staying at Minnesota for a few more months.

    3. Minnesota_husker

      Minnesota_husker

@bigredbuster With the unknown process and how many games he might play, this will allow him to hire an agent, start to make money and then work toward the NFL. Given the uncertain safety, I think this move makes sense for someone who has a first round grade already.

      But what about his education?

  6. Mike Gundy has lost his team.... I dont see how he survives this if he loses some of the players who have already spoken up.

@Decked Agreed. Doesn't matter if he has 100 people backing him up. Gundy apologizing now would sound like him walking back on denying it 30 years ago. He won't do that.

  7. Thinking about taking the Wifey on a cruise.. not sure when or where... Ideas from Husker nation on best places to go(no alaskan or cold ones.. tropical only)

One other piece of advice, the time of year greatly impacts price.  Fall (aka Hurricane Season) is the cheapest, where as winter through spring is more expensive.  Also, we will always fly down to the port a day early, because you never know what will happen with weather/mechanical issues and the ship ain't waiting for you.

@Enhance Yeah. To me it's like... if I'm going to Mexico, I wanna explore some Mayan ruins or something, not sit around in some tourist bar, you know? Chichen Itza > Cabo Wabo.

      Minnesota_husker

@Red Five Thanks for all the great information. We are looking at RC and Norwegian. At this point I think we are targeting more the east side/ leave from Ft Lauderdale and then cruise down and back--5 days. We have done the all inclusive which are fun but we want to try something different. No idea if a Cruise is for us but worth a shot. We are targeting end of April.

  8. Is getting a subscription to Husker 247 worth it? Looks like it is 53 bucks for a year.... Or just go for the monthly 9.95... Curious for those who have it?

I'd suggest you invest about half that in getting a subscription to The Athletic and utilize HB and The Recruiting Hour as free resources and spend the remaining money on some Shiner Bock Holiday Cheer.  You'll be much happier that way!

    3. Minnesota_husker

      Minnesota_husker

@Xmas32 Already have an atheletic subscription---It isnt half that, but I do like it.

      I appreciate everyones advice!

The Athletic is okay. I probably won't renew next year, though.

  9. Watching Gophers game and PJ Fleck movie for them was the Lion King, comparing them losing to Iowa like Simba having his dad die... Good lord.

  10. The trolls of other teams are really picking their game up in going after Frost and Nebraska. Had a Gopher fan tweet at me we wouldnt beat them the next half decade. Mocking his hoodie take.

    Screw 'em. GBR

Meh... They're about to get slapped back to reality with the back half of their schedule.

    2. Minnesota_husker

      Minnesota_husker

In watching a few gopher games(not by choice), I actually think they beat Northwestern and Iowa no problem. They lose to Penn State and Wisconsin honestly feels like a toss up. The gophers have gelled at the right time. If they would have played a tough non-con they would have 1-2 losses already but they didnt and therefore snuck by. I actually do think they are the 4th best team in the B1G(OSU, PSU, Michigan, MN).

    3. ZRod

      ZRod

I think they win Northwestern (but you never know with the nerds), Iowa is a toss up. I think Penn State smokes them. Wisconsin is close, but I would favor the Badgers.

  11. Being in Gopher land is just loads of fun at the moment.

  12. Mainly getting pity this week for the Husker loss. Usually I get friendly jabs, but it seems like most people are treating me like a loved one died. Gopher fans probably know the pain.

  14. 3 wins in a row was nice, but still need to let Miles go. I hope the Hoiberg rumors are true. That all said, I love Tim Miles. I hope he finds a mid-major team and does well. That was a very fun B1G tournament but that doesnt change my concerns of Miles as a coach.

    1. Enhance

      Enhance

Unfortunately for Miles, I think even winning the NIT isn't enough of a justification. The story is mostly written and I don't think Moos would release an announcement about an announcement if he was planning to retain Miles.

Let's hope that Kansas job doesn't open up..

  15. Pretty exciting that we went 3/3 on announcements today. 5 spots open and honestly I hope we are a bit picky with those spots. This class is shaping out to be really good.

Coach F just addreessed lingering needs in order: outside linebacker, pass rusher, receiver. Pretty good presser. He doesn’t hide or dress up the info

  16. Has anyone discussed the new Alliance football league rosters- Salt Lake City Stallions look like they might be our "Husker" team to cheer for. Armstrong, Newby, Bell, Pierson El and Banderas all on the roster.

  17. With Tyjon and now Bell both leaving it does make me think that Tanner Farmers comment about guys not being on-board is fairly real and this all player meeting actually put some guys feet to the fire. Who knows if people were called out but two guys have transferred....they clearly werent onboard and others seemed to notice.

Heard from a very reliable source today, who heard third hand from a current player, that there were a lot of "prima donnas" on the team this summer.  Not too surprising, I guess.  I'm sure there are less now.

    3. Minnesota_husker

      Minnesota_husker

@Decoy73 That was my biggest knock on Riley recruits. Seemed to be kids that werent asked to work and that sort of created a bad work ethic. Plenty of Riley's recruits have shown an ability to flip that and put in the work but it shouldnt surprise anyone that some just couldnt get onboard. It happens. It happens to some Frost recruits too. You think you are ready to work hard until all of a sudden you get beat by someone working even harder and you just think life isnt fair. I felt that way when I was 20,21,22.. it happens.

  18. I thought the Husker loss was depressing... And then the Vikings decided to just poop all over themselves. I seriously reconsidered liking sports after this weekend.

  20. I can finally share my thoughts and opinions again via the status bar. Sadly, I have no thoughts or opinions.

  21. I sort of thought we might lose Morrow or Watson but was holding out hope. SE cant cut Miles now, but at this pace I dont think Timmy even makes it through the season.

  22. That Nebrasketball season was depressing. Next year guys... Ill miss you Tai.

  23. Sucky Sucky Sucky. Nebrasketball has zero quit in them but also just cant figure it out at times.

  24. Rumor going around that Jerry Kill got into a shouting match with PJ Fleck when they ran in to eachother at a recruits highschool. Just saw it on a MN board... pretty crazy if true.
