  1. UT is the most valuable sports brand in NCAA. they might have 5X the alums... Im following the money, its not about wins. UT wll be lucky to see 6 wins in the SEC while in the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country.... Its like a farmer in SE nebraska on the aquifer who cant get 80 bushel corn....staggering
  2. Too bad football can't go the way Hockey, Baseball, basketball has...direct from High school. I miss the old Big 8 days when it an easy few hours drive to away games, border rivalrys, fan bases within close proximity of each other. I have lost so much interest in college football anymore. its been ruined for me and many fans. who the hell cares about Nebraska v. Rutgers, maryland, Purdue, NW, Indiana etc etc.
  3. ofcourse not, last thing Id want, but they simply arent performing and havent in atleast 10 years arguably back to 05 or so...
  4. jus spit ballin...2021 is a half step to the grand plan by no later than 2030.....Aggregate the most profitable/best college programs in the country and leave the NCAA. Make this move for OU and TX now, next act.... raid the B1G (MI, OSU, etc.), PAC (USC? ), ACC (Clemson)get ND, then kick out the Mizzous, ole miss's, Arkansas and leave the NCAA. create a pre NFL league, then the remaining schools go back to regional conferences of less imprtanence but look like to College football of old..Regional conferences...Like the old Big 8. fans are happy again. no super conferences.......maybe 24 teams...the last 10 years have shown there is no reason for 4 super conferences...Huskers have work to do to be on that short list... just a thought
  5. got home in time for the first fumble , no offensive grrove whetever the hell that was. and then that...which is why I just dont prioritze watching this garbage anymore
  6. Its all been said here...Its a very weird year. When was the last time M, PSU, MSU were struggling like this and OSU almost loses to IU. Its weird everyhere. that being said....Frost has to get a couple more years, no matter how bad. After the last 4 hires we are in a worst case scenario with firing him now. He probably needs to get out of play calling and just managing the game for now...
  7. You gotta let this go for atleast to 5 years...he needs to get 2 more years of his recruits and hopefully keep em. Get Frost out of play calling and make sure you have the best O ad D Coord. money can buy. if it comes to replacing him, then you almost gotta replace him while he is here...dont get behind an 8 ball of firing him and having to "get somebody" here in 60 days. It has to be planned out better and on the down low. We need the right guy, not a guy who will "do great with our facilites and tradition" Not sure power I is going to help recruiting and with todays defenses, you would have to probably have the best offense in the country to pull it off and we dont and wont. Finally... move south...in the 70s/80s the average player sent 7XX miles from home to play on tv for one of the 20 who played on TV. Now its like 200 miles. lottta kids come from the south. they are staying south more...closer to home Firing coaches in 3-4 years hasnt helped the situation, we dont want to do that if we dont have to almost to a fault.
  8. I remember when Iowa was kind of a yawner....Now even Iowa fans dont care about us...oh how far we have come. Who could have ever imagined when Osborne announced his retirement in the locker room after winning the natty what lie ahead....
  9. Black Shirts was so cool back when we had some of the baddest a$$ Defensive players/defenses in the country. Hell do those old OG Blackshirts even come around anymore?
  10. that lasted like 8 years maybe? We re on like year 18 and a Stoops doesnt seem to be on the horizon
  11. I know Turner absolutely did choose Nebraska. Good Dude
  12. no change, If Frost cant get it done.....not feeling good about it
  13. unfortunately I was here 5 years ago....
  14. hahaha I figure I'll be about 138 by then....something to live for!
  15. if I remember correctly, Osborne also transitioned from size to speed on defense at the urging of Bobby Bowden when FSU came to Lincoln to see the best weight/nutrition proram in the country at the time. now everyone has that. That was the final piece to Osbornes puzzle to start winning big games. Not sure that offense will work anymore....this "go back to the option" thread has been discussed on and off for literally decades around here now.
  16. Meaning Minnesota won 4 national championships over a 25 year period , then fell off the table after 1960....Im not an officianado on Indiana, but this is the first time I can remember them having the season they are having....not sure they turned anything around...more like having a good year in a weird College Football year....its a very weird year. I remember when Penn State vs Nebraska would have been an ESPN Game Day show. Some of the old games are classics, dont think this year will add to that list... Ive always thought year 5 is when I'd start drawing a conclusion about Frost. I have a few years, and most importantly, a few recruiting classes to go...There are things to like....but the offense makes me queezy for the moment..He's the 5th coach since 1998, if he cant do it.....
  17. Years ago(this has been going on for close to 2 decades) I used to say if this doesnt get fixed, we will be Minnesota. I really feel now like we are Minnesota.... Im really hoping Frost can pull it out....but as they say in politics, there seem to be fewer paths at this point...
  18. and back in the day If you wanted to be on TV(most did), there were only probably 25 programs in the country that were on consistently. ND, UCLA, USC, MI, OSU, Penn state etc..we all remember them. I remember seeing a stat or study that back in the 60s 70s, 80s the average blue chipper went like 756 miles to play football...now it's like 129 miles...many are in the south. If you live in FL, GA, AZ, TX, CA where a high % come from, there are A LOT of options that kids are happy with. Would Tommy Frazier come here today fom Bradenton High School? not so sure....
  19. hahahahaha epic. I can confirm in 1985 it was on. anyway, I was at the Gator Bowl when Nebraska made a huge comeback on Clemson and won.. W were down 21-10 in 3rd and ended up winning 26-21 Lotta things change. Dabo had just taken over from asst. to head coach a few weeks earlier if I remember correctly. If recruiting continues to go well, it will be good in a few years. Relevant? Id be very happy with 100 weeks in the top 20....and winning what we should and getting an upset every now and then...just some kind of consistent, quality performance...
  20. used to not miss a game between TV, Radio or sirius. I hunt and fish a lot and had it on one way or another. Now? meh . Was at my kids VB game a few months ago, 4 huskers fans standing there(All of us in our 50's), 1 wrestled at Nebraska, we had friends/family who played, etc...not one of us knew for sure who or where they were playing...over the last 15 years the flame got snuffed out, I guess. I think leaving the big 12 has had a little bit to do with it too. We don't have a ton a of big 10 alums/fans in KC relative to Big 12 . Its Big 12 everywhere here.
  21. I know one thing...I was very very very jealous of the line play I saw in those games yesterday...LSU had that 350 lb NG with an o lineman in each hand ... O how i really miss the days when it was Nebraska that had those lines everyone envied.... Ill watch for entertainment and pull for ANYONE playing an SEC team....including tOSU
  22. I saw it and my first thought was we look nothing like that(size, speed, attitude, etc.) all these years later
