  1. what really stands out to me as how we are not giving up. Like the gator bowl his teams are coming out of the locker room being down 12 points and finding a way to win. I love that. Back in the TO days, we rarely won if getting behind early or in the 4th quarter. these guys do not give up no matter what.
  2. fans were great. We had a few d bags with red on though, but husker fans stepped up, took care of things in the stands and all was ok. I had a great time. Always have had a great time in Columbia.I kinda think, short of vandalism, you go looking for trouble you will find it. I always have a great time and seem to find the opponent fans who do as well. Tiger fans were great. great facilites(short of the power outage) and fun time.
  3. Columbia is under flash flood Warning right now. It has rained all night. They are calling for 1-2 additional inches today and 1-2 additional inches tonight "especially in the evening". I think that is going to play to our favor . looks like this game will be played on the ground and in the trenches. It doesn't take away the quick dump, but it could take pressure off our secondary for deep routes and big pass plays. It probably quiets the crowd as well. Hell, the students might not even get out of the bars. It is going to be a great game and I am going to be soaking wet. I'll be there until the last tick, clapping for the Tigers when they go off the field with a L.
  4. Drew, Columbia is not that bad, I was there 2 years ago for the arse kicking and the beginning of the end for Callahan and I had a great time. fans were fun. I am going tomorrow and don't anticipate any problems. Ofcourse at 6' 4" 230 and being the small one in my group, we never have problems. be polite, don't rub it in too bad when we win, be a little understated and you will be fine. you will be amazed how fans want to talk to you. they really do respect the program . if we lose, just go along with it. you can cry, kick scream and cuss in the privacy of your own car where no one will see it. But we are going to win! its time.
  5. were these the linemen that you emailed?
  6. But what would have happened if we would have just kicked the extra point against Penn State?
  7. Have you been out with Michael? he told us he is a "sissy little girl" after his binge...
  8. 6-6 300lbs DT named Suh meeting a ten year old kid. Thats gonna be imprinted in his mind for a long time. It has, he is 5' 1" 105 which is big for 10 year old around here. plays defensive tackle. his #is 77 in honor of his older cousin who plays d-tackle. his next pick was #93
  9. My son and dad were up at the stadium back in August. My son-10-is a big Suh fan. Suh gets on the elevator and my sons locks up and can't talk or breathe. he looked at him smiled and said hi. My son was speechless. Suh laughed. my son says to me " Dad, Suh has legs for arms." priceless.
  10. Living in KC, I have had a chance to watch MU play twice on TV. In both cases, the second half has been critical, particularly in the Bowling Green Game. No matter what you say about MU's schedule etc. you know they are going to step up BIG on National TV in Columbia. That being said, here are a few of the things I have taken away from what I have seen. MU offense Passing. Gabbert is the real deal. For those of you who have not seen him, he looks like Ben Rothlesberger. You will have QB envy. he particularly likes two receivers:Alexander and Perry. You will see when one of these guys gets open, Gabbert is very precise and deliberate and makes those passes crisply. It's almost like when he throws the ball, before it is 5 feet off his hand, you know its going to be a catch...that good. he is passing at 66% right now. That being said, I thought BG and Nevada spent a lot of time getting very good penetration at the line, they just did not have the athletes in the secondary to finish. Gabbert is a stand up pro style QB and like to sit in the pocket and fire that howitzer of an arm--and it special. when that does not happen and he has to scramble, he does get a little less accurate. I do not think Mizzou has seen a D line this year like they are going to see in 10 days. If we can get good penetration and our secondary can take care of business, that will do a lot to disrupt the passing game and keep their offensive production low. If that does not happen, they are going to score and score often with the passing game. period. With Nebraska defense allowing 7 points per game. I like our chances here because of our d line. and good(maybe not great) secondary. I think their rushing game is OK, they have 572 yards of rushing(1/3 of their offense so far this year). they so far have really relied on the pass. I do not think the line that is allowing penetration on the pass is going to do a lot to give them a great running attack..no better than what we have seen so far against Nevada and BG. Definitely not as strong as the passing attack. again because of our line, I like our chances here. MU Defense: Nevada and Bowling Green ran all over the place and passed all over the place..Nevada particularly. they were in the game until the end. you cannot look at the box score and get the score you saw in those games(just like us against VT). They have that mountain Weatherspoon. he will be disruptive and I would think he will be blitzing us early and often. he was the one I recall really standing out. NU IF Zac lee has a good passing day and we keep them off balance with a good solid running game ...look out. again because of our line, I like our chances. I think we have all of these pieces, can we just get them together in Columbia? This is the part where the VT game is going to really help us. NU knows they had VT in Lane stadium. Columbia will not be any worse as far as stage and crowd noise. Overall I think we have a great shot on a national stage. MU's big strengths seem to be passing and definitely Gabbert. I think Nebraska, if Zac Lee performs, is a much more balanced team with solid lines, decent pass coverage, and solid running game. This whole game will revolve around our offense not melting down in the red zone and Zac Lee. If we play like we did against VT but eliminate the offensive breakdowns in the red zone, we could have a special night. You can bet on 1 thing for sure. MU is going to bring their A game. I do not necessarily think they have yet. they have big kids...just maybe not as athletic and fast as we have seen from them in the past 3 years. They have gotten used to rolling us up and will not want to quit in front of a national audience. GBR!
  11. I'm not basing Nebraska's ability on VT's performance, I'm just saying it would have felt better watching them beat Miami like a drum had we won.....thats all. I like the Hokies and their fans. As far as you can't wait for Lawrence. I can't either. I have watched the Duke and Southern Miss games closely...particularly the O and D lines for KU. KU has a great passing game but, I like our chances...again like last year in Lincoln. Suh and company has seen your o-line before.
  12. Oh I do, watching them beat up on Miami reopened some fresh wounds. How good would we be looking if we had beaten them by 1/2 the points we left on the field....but I am moving on. I still think the loss will be turned into a huge positive, like the TTech loss was last year.
  13. I know ....umh hmmm next topic!
  14. right now, he is waking up oh his back somewhere on the bank of a river with a shore bird standing on his chest eating last nights dinner off the front of his shirt. his cell phone is laying next to him still on the huskerboard page with an antry at 3:20 A.M. ........"Oh GAWD. hopefully I didn't send that...." and then reality strikes
  15. After what I saw from Mizzou on the O and D line tonight against Nevada, If this is what Missou is in two weeks, I like our chances. the box score is not close to how ugly this game was for MU.
  16. Nevada is out of gas. the box score is going to look a lot better than this game was-like MU/Bowling Green. I like our chances. I think they are going to get a big rude awakening in 2 weeks if this is really what they are.
  17. this game kinda reminds me of the KS/Duke game last week only this one is a lot uglier. great play by Reesing to briscoe, but Duke spent a lot of time in KS back field and dominating the o lines on the run. KS o and d lines were soft.
  18. wonder where Mizzou would be if Gabbert wasn't there....
  19. If Mizzou plays like this AND our offense plays the way we all know they can, It will not be a game. NU by 28 over MU.
  20. hmmmm 3 and out in the red zone against a lesser team....I have seen this somewhere before....just can't quite put my finger on it....where did I see this.....ummmm...oh well.
  21. this is ugly football, just like a lot of the Big 12 play so far this year. wierd getting wierder.
  22. To me its kinda hard to see the true Mizzou right now. Maybe they are playing down? They look flat. You can tell that Gabbert is an absolute stud even through some shaky play. The defensive line is getting slashed, and the offensive line looks lethargic. Mizzou should be really handling Nevada right now. Mizzou looks huge compared to those guys. It will be interersting to see if Mizzou wears them down in the second half. If Mizzou show up like this in 2 weeks on thursday night, Helu is going to make Lippincott look like a D2 back and our defensive front is going to have a big night. That Mizzou passing game bothers me a bit, though.
