  1. If we ever went play action when Cross is in the game it would go for a TD from anywhere on the field. I don't know if it's even in the playbook.

At this point I'd prefer EZ-E over Beck for offensive coordinator.

Had we gone with a true zone read play on 3rd and 3 on their five yard line TA WALKS into the endzone and we put that game away early. No clue why it's manditory that every time he's in he gets the call.

  2. Charlie Strong. Next HC at Florida????

I can see the shouting matches on the sidelines now.

Watching those shouting matches would be more entertaining than watching Paps tuck his tail all the time.

That would be something wouldn't it? As though we don't already have enough of the camera on Bo we would have another guy they could watch.

  3. After the Minny game who would have believed we'd give up less than 1 yard rushing to Michigan?

  4. Anybody get the feeling that CJax isn't playing because Leroy Alexander is just better than he is to this point???

Maybe. Really like what Alexander is doing right now. CJax back to CB next year?

    3. EZ-E

      EZ-E

I like the idea of moving him back. If Leroy keeps getting better CJax isn't gonna have a home.

It is not a feeling, it is a fact.

  5. Kudos to Coach Pelini and Pap for having the guts to go man-on-man on some very good WRs Michigan had. We played an 8 man box the whole game and you have to give credit to the coaches for trusting our DBs enough to do that.

There wasn't anyone on our DL that didn't play well. Avery Moss and RG44 are going to be special.

  6. For some reason, my friends and I are never worried about MSU. We have always had their number it seems. They have an awful offense and we play them at home. *Knock on Wood*

Yeah but they have a tough defense. MSU scares the crap outta me. The other thing that worries me is this: Say we pull off the win against MSU then go to Penn State and crap the bed. THAT has happened before and I SO don't want to see it again.

      BIGREDIOWAN

I don't expect anything from this team. I hope like hell we win, but wins aren't expected anymore.

  7. If you would have told me we would be -2 turnover margin and only scored 17 points I would have told you that a loss was more than likely. Hats off to the defense. Best game all year.

EZ, I like your post. My hats are off to the defense as well. However, I think the biggest "hats off" are to the fact that Michigan really is that bad. If we had a -2 turnover margin and only 17 scored points against a good team, we would have lost and a bit better team then good would have been a blowout loss ... as I see it.

My thing is that when you look at the environment that we just played in with a freshman QB and a very youthful defense there is nothing you can take away from them.

  10. Here is where we decide if we put someone to sleep, or we have a UCLA repeat. They aren't even in the same class as us. We are better in every aspect.

  11. Bull. Call the holding on our blitzing LB

  12. When we have opportunities to take the ball away, we have to do it!!!!!! Pick that ball off Ciante!!!!! Need plays like that one in a game like this.

Good series. Make them sustain drives that long every time.

  13. I was one that thought Stanford's success would fade when Jim Harbaugh left and Andrew Luck graduated. I was completely wrong about Coach Shaw as he's done a tremendous job. Congrats Stanford and Coach Shaw. That's a first class program.

EZ-E you're attending to the topography of the behavior rather than the function. A laugh can do many things, it can communicate amusement, it can alleviate uncomfortable stuff, it can show that you've toughened up for your team. Him laughing means nothing other than he laughed. I'm assuming that it wasn't a haha that's funny laugh.

    3. zoogs

      zoogs

That's true, zoo, and I certainly wouldn't say any of this is Martin's fault. I think his reaction is real and he has a lot to deal with. At this point it also looks like his reaction has been highly unusual. And the media has run with a very personally vilifying angle on Richie, who still doesn't seem like that pleasant a guy, but...

    4. Huskerzoo

      Huskerzoo

I completely agree with you Zoogies. Richie has been completely vilified and I think it's unjust. However, behavior is functional (this is what I study for a living) so given the context, I understand Martin's odd reaction or at least think I do. I think there's too much blame to go around to pin it on any one individual and it's without a doubt something that goes beyond those two guys.

  15. Wake up to two missed calls from your mom at 9am. You call her back and she got you two tickets to the MSU game 30 rows up in the South EndZone just because she thought you'd like them. Day = Made.

  16. Anyone notice the package we ran a few times on 3rd and long with Avery Moss at DT??? Thad Randle was actually fairly effective in this package and Id attribute that to him not playing 50 snaps. The only problem I foresee with this is that we seemed to blitz out of it every time we ran it.

    1. EbylHusker

      EbylHusker

If only there were plays in college football to counter blitzing, and if only we had an OC who knew this!

    2. EZ-E

      EZ-E

Id have to watch again, but I don't know if blitzes really killed us as much as our poor play at guard. Pensick and Pelini need to figure this out.

    3. StPaulHusker

      StPaulHusker

I try not to watch any packages involving Avery Moss

  17. It's going to take the best game of the year on both sides to win this football game against Michigan. Grow up freshman. In a hurry. This could be the biggest most rowdy environment you've ever seen.

Being on the road will be tough, but Michigan turns the ball over a little bit. I like what Pelini can scheme against a Borges offense, but again....on the road is always tough. And of course, we are young.

    3. Count 'Bility

      Count 'Bility

Michigan's gotta be so damn down emotionally, I think we have a real chance. They have 2 conference losses and virtually no chance to win the division with Ohio St still to play. Not to mention, they know as well as anyone how much of a fail theyve been this year. I'm not expecting to godawful rowdy.

    4. tmfr15

      tmfr15

If we can hold up in the middle, I am confident, but it is going to be a tough road atmosphere. Nothing to do, but just go in there and let it all hang out. Sounds kind of like what they did on 11 straight possessions by NW.

  18. Watching the highlights, that roll out that Northwestern ran was PERFECTLY DEFENDED by everybody involved in that play. Ankrah didn't lose the TE and trusted that Gregory would make the play and then help came. Dear Lord what a great play.

It's nearly amazing how much better the interior of our line got without Thad in the middle.

      Who could have predicted?

Well, besides 95% of HuskerBoard who complained about Thad's horrid play weekly. :)

And that front four eligibility wise is 2 sophs and 2 frosh.

    4. Nebula

      Nebula

That play really jumped out at me EZ. Great lateral speed combined with the confidence of instinct. They looked quick, fast, and sturdy. THAT'S what I've been hoping to see...our athletes manipulating the course and direction of the play, rather than being dictated by the offense. Plus...we're hitting people hard all of the sudden. Those aren't shoestring tackles.

  19. Does anyone have the highlights from the game posted anywhere? Would really like to watch them.

  20. I still don't know if I actually saw what I saw. Dear lord almighty.

      EZ-E

I've said since UCLA that Moss is our best all around DE. My thing is that I support giving Bo a chance to see what he can do with this group of guys when they are juniors/seniors and then make your evaluation. Since 2010/2011we have recruited very well.

But he's not a great practice player!

/ please tell me that's not the reason. Please.

  23. Thad Randle. Excuse yourself from the field. Now.

  24. If we could license MJ we could license Cash. The MJ estate has some of the most powerful entertainment lawyers in the business around them in Pat Armstrong and Larry Stessel. (Saw it on a status a ways down. I thought the thought needed its own status :)
