  1. 90% of the time you can get the tickets outside the stadium.
  2. The coaches seem to be very picky who they allow to walkon. Not saying this isn't a great pickup, but i just don't see justin cracking the 3 deep anytime soon. Maybe when he's a junior. We shall see. At least he's not a cyclone, that's what matters.
  3. Well i guess i was proven wrong for this game. Looks like the departure of McCray had something to do with this team winning. The question is, will this continue or will Nebraska fall below .500 at the end of the season like i predicted? We play Oklahoma St. (2-4) next and if NU can pull off a win against them and then beat a struggling Baylor team (0-6) who is on a 6 game losing streak, then i will say we have a chance of maybe finishing above .500. This team is so inconsistant and it looses games it shouldn't and wins games it shouldn't.
  4. it seems like every year we get a visiting non-conference team talking about how the great treatment they received in Lincoln. NU's fans usually get "respect" from everyone. amazingly, the one exception are CU fans. many of whom, in their jealousy/idiocy/whatever, contend that its all bogus. Though the proof is often right in front of them: 2004- broken hearted and Bowl-unbound Husker fans stick with tradition and clap for the CU players as they walk off our field. 2005- well, we all know what happened at "Folsum Prison". even though its typical CU bs, somehow i'm still lost as to how so many of them are not willing to admit that maybe the things everyone else says about Nebraska's fans aren't just self-created myths. That's because those same CU fans are the ones who were littering the field last year and got kicked out of the stadium. CU fans are the disgrace that is Colorado and everything wrong with college football.
  5. I expect Gill to do a better job next year. Can't really consider this a proper evaluation of talent when you are giving scholarships to players who you need to fill up your roster with. Gill will likely hit Florida next year hard and offer guys who fall in the 2-3 star catagory because everything else will be eaten up by Florida International, Florida Atlantic, and Florida A&M and other smaller fish schools like duke and kentucky.
  6. Well i was going to respond but 2 people already beat me to it. Travel rosters have nothing to do with who has a scholarship and who doesn't. I can give you a dozen names of guys who traveled to Baylor and Kansas last year that were not scholarship players. You are correct on 1 thing though and that only as certain amount of players are allowed to suit up for a road game but doesn't mean the ones that don't suit up can't travel. Case in point Bradley who did not suit up for the Alamo bowl game, but i am sure like the rest of us, you saw him holding a sign asking ESPN for some love correct?
  7. That was scott Downings area, but with him leaving and the duties being restructured, i am not sure who will be given that state
  8. Things change of course and right now a team that was out of it seems to be back in it after NU stopped recruiting him. It's between West Virginia and N.C State right now and i would venture to say he is likely N.C State bound
  9. Joe has a bad attitude. I can tell you that from people who know him personally and he is selfish on the court. It's not just Collier that has issues with him but it's his teammates as well who also are not happy with him.
  10. Slauson was a walkon that was given an exemption by the NCAA because of his transfers. From what i know, he isn't on a full scholarship, but i could be wrong. I will check on that.
  11. I hope you were not referring to my statement. I was only giving you the views of how recruits these days see things. 90% of them don't like to wait untill they are soph to play. Some want to play right away (Freeman) and some have no problem with competition (Schilling). Those that love competition are a rare breed these days. The biggest tool recruits hear these days are "you can come in and play right away". Very few coaches and recruiters say "if you can win the starting job outright by competing, it's yours"
  12. I found that out last night but to my knowledge it was a suspension not being kicked off the team. I wasn't sure it was true but Barry and McCray have been going at it since the KU game and McCray was upset about being pulled from the KU game and it carried over to the Colorado game and Collier must have had enough of him running his mouth and the fact he decided to miss practice since Collier gave him the cold shoulder about not playing him much in the Colorado game.
  13. It wont matter, NU will lose this game. NU is on a a 3 gamelosing streak that will likely be broken after the 13th consecutive loss.
  14. I really don't know why the Big10 even consider Notre Dame to be a non-conf game. I can see the USC/ND series being non-conf, but let's admit it. The amont of games ND plays against the Big10 is almost the same amount of games the conference teams play against each other.
  15. Keep in mind teams like Minnesota, Marshall, West Virginia, bowling green, BYU, Utah are all going to want return games for example. Also keep in mind some of those teams with free wekeends aren't going to play Nebraska because they might already have tough non-conf games scheduled and that would be pointless to just schedule teams for a paycheck. Also some teams wont come and play Nebraska because they are scared and they themselves want to make a post-season bowl game. Also some teams can get a bigger payout from other schools and also help themselves recruiting wise by playing a FSU, LSU, Texas, or Cal for example in those hotbed recruiting states and also get national exposure by playing the "NOW" big programs like Texas, USC, Georgia, Auburn, Notre Dame who all made BCS bowl games last year. Lots of factors go into scheduling a team. I am sure some of them were not contacted because they just weren't appealing enough and others were probably contacted and fell under one of those things listed above.
  16. I think most all Nebraska fans would rather not play any 1-AA teams, but i would bet money that SP is having issues trying to get anyone to come to Lincoln and play. Anyone have a list of all 1-A teams that have an open date the same day Nichols State was scheduled for? I already checked all the schedules. The only teams with a empty schedule for that weekend include Cincinatti (already playing Ohio St, Virginia Tech, and Miami Ohio next season) UConn (already playing Indiana, Army, Navy and Wake Forest for non-conf) West Virginia (already playing Marshall, Maryland, Miss St, and Buffalo for non-conf) Indiana (still has 2 more open non-conf games but Ball St is scheduled on the weekend we play Nic St, and Indiana will probably want a return visit) Minnesota (already playing Temple, Cal, North Dakota St and has that weekend free) East Carolina (Dates TBA but already has it's 12 game schedule picked out) Marshall (weekend open but already plays Tenn, KSt, WVU and they will want a return game) Memphis (See east Carolina) UAB (has weekend off but already has 12 game schedule made out with Georgia, Oklahoma, Miss St, and Troy) Houston (has no games scheduled with non-conf opponents yet but i wont even go there) Tulane (has no games starting before 9/16 but already has 12 game schedule setup with LSU, Auburn, Miss St, and Army) Tulsa (still has 3 non-conf games to fill and wekeend is free) Bowling Green (weekend off but already has non-conf games against Wisconsin, Florida Int, Boise St, and Ohio St picked out) Buffalo (weekend off but already has 4 non-conf games scheduled with Boston College, Temple, Rutgers, WVU) Ohio ( i wont even go there but they already have 4 non-conf games scheduled) Western Michigan (has weekend off and needs 2 more non-conf games) BYU (has weekend off and needs 3 more non-conf games) San Diego St (weekend off but already has non-conf schedule worked out) TCU (has weekend off but needs 1 more non-conf team) Utah (has weekend off and needs 1 more non-conf team) Cal (has weekend off but has non conf games already scheduled against Tenn, Minnesota, La Tech and Oregon-yes they scheduled a non conf game with a conference team) La Monroe (has weekend off but already has Arkansas, Alabama and Kentucky on schedule) Hawaii (has weekend off but needs 1 more non-conf team)
  17. On any given saturday, any team will beat another team now these days with the 85 scholarship limit in effect. All streaks come to an end. Just like Nebraska's 36 game winning streak against Kansas ended, so did NU's 47 home winning streak (look at my signature), so did USC's 35 winning streak end and Miami's 34 winning streak (couple of years ago) end. Teams can no longer stockpile talent upon talent like they did during the early 80's and up untill the late 90's. It's not only coaching, it also talent. Pop quiz to everyone (without looking it up), when was the last time Tennessee didn't make a bowl game? When was the last time Michigan lost 5 games in a season. When was the last time FSU lost 5 games in a season. ANYONE notice anything in those 3 teams? They ALL won National titles IN THE 90's with their current head coaches, yet they are all struggling. Again....like i said, it goes back to the 85 scholarship limit and not ONLY is NU feeling the effects of it, but so is FSU, Tennessee, Michigan, Florida. Coaching will only take you so far these days unless you manage to become a USC and stockpile talent like that year in and year out. USC and Florida have 9 of the top 100 players in the nation combined and 39 of the top 250 players in the nation. The question is, what will they do with that talent compared to the talent Callahan recruited.
  18. This makes no sense. Michigan signed 6 OL players last year and 4 of them were 4 star players, 2 were 3 star players, and they already have one 4 star OL and one 3 star offensive lineman in this class. I guess schlling is sending a message he's not afraid to compete for starting time. Really thought Ty had this kid locked up. None the less, it's definetly a huge pickup for Michigan
  19. NU is done recruiting for this class. I mentioned this a few days ago and to my knowledge, the coaches weren't waiting on Deas or Lee. This class is pretty much wrapped up unless something drastic happens in the next 4 days
  20. Actually i believe we are already over the limit. Keep in mind we only had 21 scholies to give and we already have 23 and that's not counting Tyrell Spain or Matt Slauson or Jacob Hickman who will be getting scholarships. I expect some transfers this Spring/summer, in particular 1 of the QB's will go because of playing time. It's not a good idea having 5 scholarships QB's on your roster, specially when 2 of the 5 will never see the playing field ever again.
  21. Sometimes you find a diamond in the rough who shines instantly like Octavien and Ola and Zac Taylor, and sometimes it takes a few games to get the hang of things (Bowman) and sometimes injury can hold you back (Frantz). This coaching staff has proven it knows how to evaluate talent and regardless of stars, they are targeting prospects they believe will give them a best shot
  22. Meno Holt is underrated in my opinion. I expect to see him and Purify get a few dozen catches next year. I dont epect him to redshirt.
  23. If so, he is real coy about it. I read where he said that Auburn was nice, but nothing real impressive, gave it an 8 or 9 out of 10. Who knows, we'll find out wednesday. Actually Deas might be making a commitment over the weekend along with Deas from what i have heard, so we might know where he is going by sunday (although i already predict him headed to FSU). Auburn is just out of it in my opinion
  24. Some of the prospects listed include targets NU has offered or will be offering next year most likely. Some names you might recognize on that list include Ryan Mallett 6-6 235 Texas Texarkana TX G.J. Kinne 6-3 215 Canton Canton TX Phillip Bates 6-1 185 North Omaha NE Jimmy Clausen 6-3 200 Oaks Christian Westlake Village CA 2 years ago Harrison Beck particpated in this academy, and NU's decommit Josh Freeman also played in it. Will NU have a 3rd consecutive guy who ends up at this camp? We shall see. From StudentSports.com This will be the eighth year of the Elite 11, a four day event which brings together the top high school quarterbacks and focuses on improving their quarterbacking play both on and off the field. Past players to participate at the event include Heisman Trophy winners Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart, as well David Carr, Ben Roethlisberger, Chris Leak, Rose Bowl MVP Vince Young and many more. The final 12 high school quarterbacks for the event are selected by the Student Sports staff after thorough tape evaluation, a telephone interview and an in-person workout at either a NIKE Football Training Camp or an Elite 11 Regional Workout.
