the mumps vaccine is consdered one of, if not the fastest, vaccine ever created - it took 4 years. you'll hear "experts" on this forum say there is no herd immunity. if there isnt there is likely no vaccine and we are wearing masks forever. i agree just social distance for all time

The season should be cancelled and maybe next season too. If we as a society are too stupid to look past 'cases' as our central metric for a sickness that has less than a 1% mortality rate (and even lower among young people), we dont deserve sports. When we get past the mentality that we can make this thing go away or hide from it maybe there will be hope.

I think there will be football (NFL & College) come Sept, although I suspect with much smaller crowds that are 'practicing social distancing' in the stands. I'm pretty confident about that. To me the more interesting question is this: Do you think there will be full crowds, NFL and college, in 2021? I say absolutely yes with almost 100% certainty.

That won't happen, people are inherently selfish. And I do wear a mask as stated previously. I think what we are living in is the 'new normal'. Its just going to take awhile for people to get used to it.

How many people do you think will be wearing a mask a year from now? Not many but you are welcome to. If true, is this not essentially herd immunity? It may be different than other viruses but the risk of death from reinfection would be very very small.

You are correct about opening things back up. Herd immunity is the only way to get past this although its probably never going away completely. Maybe if there is an effective vaccine, but those generally take years to develop. Things look bad in Arizona, Texas, Florida right now but the reality is they are closer to herd immunity than most and doing it at a time when the weather is less favorable for a virus. I do think masks help some although i wear them more as a courtesy to others and because here IL we are still required to wear them in public. When we are no longer required to wear them I wont wear one.

I would not say like normal but yes kids will be back on campus in the fall

What are things like out there in Nebraska? I'm in central IL and we are shelter in place. Quite a few people out at the parks. They just put signs up kids arent supposed to be on equipment. My wife works at the hospital and things are relatively quiet right now with wuhan cases.
