  1. Where is this coming from? I've now heard it from 3 different people. I scoffed at the first two. But the 3rd is a pretty reasonable voice that I speak with often. Anyone else see or hear it? I think it's ridiculous. Ppl who start sh#t like this are morons. I cant imagine there's any legs to it whatsoever.
  2. So statistically, this has been our best defense since 2010? And we need to fire Banker?Boyd Epley flat out said the football team was about 3 years behind the "boy bigs" in college football talent wise. If his talent evaluation system works which I assume it does, then Banker did a decent job. We are in a hole talent and depth wise due to the previous staff that I hope we can climb out of. The Ohio state game exposed it and the Iowa game confirmed it. Riley needs 2 more years. Took Ferentz 4 years to get the ball rolling and I'll give HCMR the same. 9-3 this year sure felt better then 9-3 with Blow Pelini. It's nice not to see a grown man acting like a juvenile delinquent on the side lines. And we're beat up.....we'll be a new team come bowl time. based on his curved athletic performance index, wasnt it that only 2 football players last winter tested better than any of our volleyball players? or something along those lines. I know our volleyball team is Alabamaish on the volleyball side of things, but it shows how far behind football actually is Again. we have talented players. But we're not an overly talented team. Epley said seven football players scored in the 1,700s. Twenty were at 900 or below. Epley said that 900 figure is a good benchmark for walk-ons. NU has a significant number over 1,500.-OWH Full link.... http://www.omaha.com/huskers/boyd-epley-brings-back-performance-index-weighs-in-on-husker/article_1a7c4940-a387-11e5-9643-0bc10d4a2c5d.html I bet the cream puffs are in the trenches. Somewhat concerning 20 players are under 900. The article doesn't specify if they're scholarship players are not. very good. thanks. I didnt know the exact numbers. And i dont have the ambition to look. I just remember there being a pretty glaring comparison to volleyball. Which again, isnt a knock cuz volleyball is a full speed freight train right now. But it showed how far off we from being at even a level we want to be.
  3. simple tendancies we dont have a qb that can routinely hit those throws. So defense let them be for the most part to double down on things our qb does do well. The schematic answers to questions like this are not nearly as complicated as they seem. It's simple philosophy. And the thing is, we can sit here and say our qb should run more, but when our pass game is not well-rounded enough, that's inneffective as well.
  4. Interesting nugget i heard on radio. It's now 3 former Bob Stoops assistants that have been fired for player mistreatment. Leach, Mangino, and now Wilson.

obviously Stoops isnt having issues with it because of his longevity. That or he still wins enough......

While I am not condoning mistreatment of player when it comes to health, I think entitlement is part of the problem in regards to Wilsons deal. Sounds like he has a player stepping up who was injured in the past saying he had a concussion and Wilson went by the book. Meh, he will land an OC job somewhere.

The Leach one seemed sort of bogus.

  5. Jeebus flippin kriest. TheSker is back now? God how convenient. Lose a couple games and the cesspool fills up. Also. Is it coincidemtal that Colorado made this rise under another Coach Mac? We should be looking for a Deveny or Osburn
  6. ok. yes. I know. it was all a joke in good fun. that's how i roll.
  7. some other things coming out about treatment of players....
  8. Kevin Wilson out at Indiana. BennetESPN saying being heard not about wins/losses

Deadspin reporting that its due to him rushing players back from injury. And other "mistreatment" of players.

  9. This lists says much more about recruiting failures in 2010-2013 than anything about Mike Riley. I'm sure there's some of that. But when you're winning your division and playing in the CCG, your players tend to get a little longer look. When you're finishing in the middle of the pack, it's pretty easy for other players to get the benefit of the doubt. You either have talent or you don't. If you have it, it will get recognized. And if we had the talent to get recognized, we'd probably be playing in the CCG. We just don't have the talent level we all want yet. Will Riley bring that talent level in? Well, that remains to be seen. "At the end of the day, I think we have kids in our program that are capable of winning championships.” Shawn Eichorst, exactly 2 years ago. exactly. Good thing we got 2-3 more years of kids in that very group.
  10. You were joking? Gosh. I was just about to hit my "hardcore defense" button.
  11. so basically the term millennial is being used as a generlization of a particular demographic of ppl, like "yuppie" was, rather than a particular age group. This probably happened because "milennial" doesnt really have any real cut and dried definition. we see how many just in this very thread.
  12. The properness is irrelevant because it is a name. i could call myself CouNTaBilITY if i wanted. It may not be proper in a grammare sense but it doesnt matter. Cuz that is my name. ADS put it out as "husker board" and i corrected it. i will concede that proper grammar is not the issue here, if you concede that a few listings within the board rules is still not enough to prove it is the correct name until we have hardcore proof. And even after, I will still not waste time pressing the shift key when spelling Huskerboard. it's not that important to me. Which leads me to say that i have completely lost track of whats being debated here.
  13. Alright. I cant find it, and since Cornstar dont wanna stand up and either A)admit a wrong, or B) tell what it actually is. I cant find now where i read it but it was pretty cut and dried on what a millenial was and made sense. That it was anyone that is young enough that the first time they were old enough to vote in a presidential election was 2000 or later. I dont know if this is right, but the way i see it since it's pretty definitive and made sense, i took as gospel. now here's the deal. Millenial i think is generalized as a young punk, white collar, entitled liberal that doesnt know how to work. The thing that pisses me off about this generalization is that i am technically a millenial. by the definition above. And i couldnt be more polar opposite. And am as conservative as they get. I like steak. I burn diesel. My hands are always dirty. And I am pro-life. So i guess i dont know what the hell is going on anymore.
  14. it may be the "way" to spell it, but there is absolutely nothing proper about it. I will only concede that much. And debates like this make me think it should be changed to Huskerbored
  15. *Huskerboard * HuskerBoard this is grammarly incorrect, and there is zero proof that this is the proper name. Besides the point that my point was simply that it was one word and a title, hence the capital "H".
  16. I think clock management issues are such a iffy, hingsight deal. obviously theres a lot that goes into particular decisions, and it's not even nearly as cut and dried as many perceive it to be. So when a decision works out, great. When it doesnt, bad clock managment, when in all actuality, it was just a wrong decision that had nothing to do with clock management ability.
  17. Who's asking for that? its around. the lack of success in these first two seasons is being used a rallying cry for why the the last stuff shoulda been retained. it's on this board. it's been on twitter. Ppl really feel this way. They have no sense of process. it was really prevelant last year after the 5-7/5-6 record. Look. in 2-3 years if we're still at 9 wins or worse or showing now signs of progression, i'll be more than happy then to let these guys go and find yet another direction. That's just the way the game is right now. Find the right guy. Colorado and Washington can play that game. Why cant we? I'm sure there are some. But I think they're in the vast minority. I see much more of people accusing anyone who has a criticism of the current staff of wanting the old staff back than people actually saying they want the old staff back. Those are totally separate things. But bringing up any comparison or complaining about something gets you labeled as a Boliever. That is happening much more than anyone actually wanting the old staff back, imo. Definitely getting thinner now. But it was pretty thick a year ago hell, even I have days where i sit and wonder "what if we kept him?". There's nothing wrong with that, because every guy has goods and bads. It's just a lot of times the reasoning for being so vocally against this staff in favor of the last is totally delusional and stupid. To those it's a coach over program mentality. Im a program guy. But some ppl have let the thought of letting coach being an above-all identity of the program get in the way of logical thinking and big picture ideas.

  20. To do that, Trump would need to first "drain the swamp" by replacing all of the current coaching staff with big dollar boosters and virulent Purdue bloggers. Any of the ancillary staff in the Athletic Department would then be made up of either former failed Purdue staffers or ignorant blowhards that have ties (both direct and indirect) to the most vociferous of Indiana Hoosier supporters. Only then will Trump have the framework in place to make Purdue great again. you mad? you must be mad.
  21. i still dont know that this list is a true story of our talent. Like i said, we have some talented guys. We even have some talented seniors who have either had their developement delayed, or sped up, by the coaching change. Banderas will make an NFL team. would he be in that situation under Bo? No. it's pretty glaring he was struggling with what that system required of it's backers. but in this system, where the backers were really freed up........... What it mostly is is a good explanation of how our program became very stagnant and mediocre within the conference. has this new staff done anything glaring to remedy that? Well no obviously. does it mean theyre not capable? Who knows. What i do know is that using only 2 years of failure/mediocrity/non improvement/whatever you wanna call it as a reason to ask for an 8th year and beyond of the previous stagnation is stupid to me. And the trend that is being shown by the decreasing players in the all conference lists is how Nebraska remaining stagnant and mediocre is falling further and further behind in terms of the upper Big ten. Since our last division title, we've still have not finished better than 3rd in our own division. 2 season of the last staff. 2 under this one. That kind of mediocrity is not gonna spur many all conference players, regardless of the amount of "talent". Esp since you got 4 teams up there in the top ten, and the best two teams not even playing for the conference championship.

  24. 2012 was Martinez's best season here. i think by far. now, what other Big 10 qb's were gonna challenge him for that spot, on a team with the 2nd best conference record, winning their division. Braxton Miller won the media side i believe. And here are some qb names that come to mind Denard Robinson (injured midseason Joel Stave (injured before CCG, did not play in CCG) Trevor Simien was a soph at NW, splitting time with Kain Colter Matt McGloin Marquies Gray Devon Gardner after Robinson was hurt. i think was 2011-2012 was the low point for the Big ten in terms of football. it was urbans first year at Ohio st. Which i thought then, and fully beleive now, is the single most significant event in the rise of Big Ten football to the top the hill.
