  1. Personally I think the regular season championship is a better accomplishment that a tourney ship anyway. More of a reward towards a whole body of work as compared to just gettin hot for 4 days. I dont like the conference tournaments, I just see them as a chance to spoil hot teams heading into the ncaa and giving mediocre teams that dont belong in the tournament a chance to win there way by just playing above their abilit for 2-3 days.
  2. Not the end of the world. Rest and refocus will do them alot of good here. Never did like the situation of a team goin into a tourney on a big win streak or undefeated, just seemed to be too much pressure building on them from within.
  3. I like the point about Kinnie. Here's a young man who as a first year player made the two biggest offensive plays in the Texas game. He IS going to develop into the Purify type go to guy in the pass game. I see Paul more of a utility player, maybe the way Newcomb was used. It will be a better offense. You can bet Bo is putting his stamp on things on that side of the ball now. On the point of Oregon and Cinci having such explosive offenses with so called overlooked players. Did they have the inexperience issue? Did they have injury issues, including a quarterback's throwing arm (dump point here cuz cinci did), and did they have the issue of replacing multiple starters at all levels of the offense. Did they lose one of their 2 punch RB's weeks before the season? I could go on and on, but my point is that those two teams, among many others, do/did not have near the issues our offense had last season. My biggest point of all, defensive competition. That's enough said.
  4. If your goin to put playmakers regardless of profenciancy, then you have a team that blows a major play for every great play. aka, the Callahan era. That's just stick with consistency. Look what happened to O'Hanlon after VTech. This wondering about the offense talk is sure gettin old. As far as creativity goes, there was no experience to execute creativity. Look here, the team went 4-3 by opening up the offense, turning the ball over(3 wins against sunbelt teams nonetheless). Then the off goes into a shell and they finish 6-1, shoulda been 7-0. I'm not the least bit worried about the offense cuz there IS enough excuses (yes, i call them excuses, forgive me) to explain last years struggles.
  5. But in the long run, i would have to say the experience gained in the close games and comebacks is priceless in tourney time. Let's just say we do get to Uconn, and we get the game to the 10 minute mark in the second and we're still hangin in with at worse say a 7-8 point deficit. Who's more nervous, our ladies who've been in that spot all year, or Uconn, who's thinking "what the hell is goin on here". Just a thought
  6. And the worst of all-waking up the next morning realizing your in NEW YORK, then you puke.
  7. I have never seen Uconn play, but i watched them tonight for a 10 minute stretch or so, and i swear, I thought i was watching, not the WNBA, but the NBA. That is a good basketball team.
  8. Exactly, it say "Cody Green COULD lead the Huskers." Thanks again ESPN for reporting what everybody else already knows. It could rain tommorrow too.
  9. A serious question here, cuz i'm not a baseball by any means, but was Nebraska even relevant prior to 2000 season when they nearly made it to the CWS, and then they made it a few times, and maybe is it possible they had a decade that was a bit above average. I guess i'm just trying to make a point that alot "other" things stood out a lot more over the last decade with the football program goin thru such struggles. Adjusted for the times of course-could it be said that the men's basketball programs gets more looks now than it did in the nineties when it was winnin 20 game routinely and even winning conference and national tournaments?
  10. I dont recall ever seeing McCoy throwing the top Heisman contender accross the field like a rag doll for the whole world to see after coming thru a double team like water thru toilet papaer. LITERALLY.
  11. I'm not being rude by any sense here, if it is taken that way so be it this is just my honest opinion, it cant be much of a disability if he's going for a masters after 4 years of college right? Very cool young man and entertaining to watch over the last 4 years. Always got a kick outta seein him get into the band.
  12. And how many tens of thousands of students attend this university. No excuse for not being able to scrounge up 200 or so for a 2 hour saturday afternoon game. Simple, it's just a reflection of a bad year. I'm gonna add the Brian-Diaz was a dissappointment. This is the big guy in the middle and damnit he's gonna have to start showin some killer attitude. Ubel, awesome. He did somethin about it and showed some attitude. That's a Doc player.
  13. I like the two-tone. I thinks it's just another uniquish ( ) addition to memorial stadium. As far as grass, I think football should be played on grass too, but for the sake of maintenance costs-especially in this area of the country-an artificial turf is the way to go. My question is, why was the black stuff even an option.
  14. If they were showcasing colt's career they would still mention his only conference title wouldn't they? They simply said Ward led his team to the 1993 NC against Nebraska. they focused more on his rivalry with Florida. Well, i wasnt watching, whoever simply said "they just showed Charlie Ward against the Huskers in 1993....) so i question why you would show clips of by far their poorest performance of a 4 year career. Now talk about Colt's only Big 12 championship, they oughtta mention how he nearly sh#t himself and pissed the game right down the toilet.
  15. Why would they show Charlie Ward against Nebraska in 1993? That's comparible to using the 2009 Big 12 Championship to explain how great Colt McCoy was.
  16. Likewise, if you think a fully healed Zac Lee will be an above average quarterback you are kidding yourself. And no, last year wouldn't have been a national championship season with a healthy OL, QB, and RB. Texas Tech beat us soundly so we wouldn't have made it to the title game. Even if we had Alabama would not be a good matchup for NU. Also, are you drunk? When I'm drunk I sound like you type. Just making a point that a running back playing with a bum shoulder, offensive lineman playing with injuries to their legs, and a quarterback playing with a hurt throwing arm are like you trying to think without a brain. OH sh#t, you already do that. Guess you all do have somethin in common. (im not mad, just laughing right now)
  17. Although the team does lack over sufficient talent at WR, injuries to THE QB, running backs, and Oline had a lot more to do with the struggles last year than anything else. Say what you want, but had Zach never been hurt, and the oline, helu and burkhead all stay relatively healthy, it's probably a national championship season. If you can sit there and say that the injuries (one to a heavily relied on QB's throwing are nonetheless) were not the #1 culprit a year ago, you just bullshitting yourself. Now it's no wonder Zac ran like such a puss.
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, arent these workouts at this point in the year "voluntary". Cuz if so, and these players are working hard on their own behalf it show both the leadership and the dedication of the 90's. Not that players under Callahan and Solich didn't, but I think it was obvious the passion for it was not there.
  19. Uh, Nebraska is int the PLAINS. I think there was some grass for us to practice on from time to time. It was all about Florida cuz they had a "prettier offense"
  20. Also, as many times as we've been so close to beating Texas, (i think every time has come down to the final minutes), when it finally does happen, whether it be next year or 2011, or 14 or 15, i feel it will be a complete blowout, that one game when the monkey doesnt just get off the back, but is completely body slammed into the ground.
  21. But we didtn win one in the 1890's, 1900's, 10's, 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, or 80's either, so that may not be in the back of their head. Just sayin.
  22. A Big12/NBC relationship seems appealing on the surface, but something to consider is that NBC would be far from a stable business partner at this point. And after the 100 or so million dollar loss they are expected to eat by airing the Olympics, they probably won't be throwing a lot of money around to anyone in the near future. (Unless your name is Jay Leno of course.) I think the biggest problem for the Big12 is that their TV deal is with FSN and not FOX, (Nice job Kevin Weiberg! ) so a majority of Big12 conference games are relegated to some grainy feed on channel 800 somewhere, and that's only for those who have satellite or digital cable and the FSN package for that region. What I would like to see is FOX step up and air CFB games nationally on saturdays but my guess would be that they have most of their money already invested in their the NFL, MLB, and the BCS contracts. So it would appear the Big12 is S.O.L. for the time being. Not to mention, I personally wouldnt want my Huskers to have anything to do with with that worthless network of liberal crap pies.
  23. I caught that too when I was wathing the 83 orange bowl and mike knox was playing, and it just didnt add up. How long has this commercial been around? Yeah, i was watching it on espn classic 2 weeks ago, and the commercial was shown during that replay.
  24. It's also a testament to how f'd up the individual awards in college football are. To not even be a finalist for either the Groza or the Guy award is an absolute sin. Granted, he'll probably win both next year, but two years in a row is what shoulda happened.
  25. If our offense shows minimal improvement (any imrovement at all) and the defense maintains, it would've won 3 of the 4 games we lost last year hands down-not close. If that's the case next season i believe we wont lose a game.
