  1. Watching the game again on BTN, I retract the statement that it was a bad call on not calling grounding on Martinez. McDermott was right there. He probably couldn't make a play on the ball but he was in the area.
  2. Think it was today that was the official 50th anniversary of the sell out streak. It's probably going to involve that somehow.
  3. The bottom line is that a win is a win, and at this point and in this year with this team you have to accept the wins no matter how they come. It doesn't mean we accept mediocrity, it just means that a W is a hell of a lot better than a L. Everyone who watched the game knows that the team has a lot of things to work on. But we've now faced two deficits in the second half this year of more than 10 points and we've come back and won them. There's a lot of resiliency in this team, especially on offense.
  4. We did end up benefiting greatly from Martinez shovel passed out of the end zone and they though Cotton was close enough to be considered the intended receiver (he wasn't and it should have been a safety).
  5. Moved inside to DT on most of the plays, would like to see him stay there and have Martin and Ankrah as our starting DEs.
  6. That a win is absolutely better than a loss no matter how you do it. But there are things we absolutely have to work on. Our defense definitely stepped up and shut down a decent offense.
  7. Lucky that we were able to pull it out. Let's enjoy that we won the game before we go crazy on everything we did terrible (and there was a lot of things). At this point it's win and advance for me. Good points: D stepped it up and only had 1 really bad play. Martinez was T-Magic today. We have the absolute best WRs in the B1G. We have our first win on the road. Bad Points: Just about everything else.
  8. How many times over the past couple years has the WR dropped that pass for the first down? Great offense by Nebraska the last two series to get up by 1.
  9. Really? What does Martinez need to do? He's had 1 bad throw, but outside of that he's doing everything he can to win this game. The O-Line definitely hasn't been helping him out. Mistakes on Special Teams hasn't helped him at all. What else does he need to do? Beautiful throw by him for the TD to.
  10. WTH does Martinez need to do? While he's not playing his best game, he's still playing pretty damn good. It's on the line, again. The defense has been playing well outside the 80 yard run.
  11. That's on Stafford. Smith and Compton were following the option to the outside, they had their guys covered. Stafford or someone else didn't jump in the gap.
  12. The most popular player on the team is the backup QB. You want to burn the Redshirt on a QB more than halfway through the season? Yeah lets go ahead and do that. Real smart move.
  13. Don't know why they didn't call progress on the Mark play. SJB got beat, but that's the first play that's happened and he still almost tipped the ball. We have 1:30 left til half and then we get the ball first. Let's see something happen.
  14. I have no clue what's going to happen with this team. They are def one of the most frustrating teams Nebraska has fielded that I've followed. They have exceptional talent on offense, but they keep shooting themselves in the foot with stupid penalties and turnovers.
  15. WTH did Stafford do? Personal foul covers a wide range of actions, and when was the PF. If it was after the play, that ball is still ours.
  16. ABC/ESPN has definitely shat the bed on their coverage of the beginning of the game. I get the post game stuff for OSU/PU, but then you follow it with 2+ minutes of commercials while the game is playing. Great job there by the decision makers.
  17. It's a sad day when we have to start using this excuse for a poor performance. Mostly focusing on OSU here. They are having an off day. Is it because the start time? Or is it because they're facing an opponent that got destroyed the last 2 weeks and overlooking them. It could be that Purdue is playing out of their minds on defense in forcing 4 TOs. We were hyped 2 weeks ago, let up a big play on d, then started pressing. The game happened, we lost and we need to learn from it. And stop bringing it up when someone plays them better than us.
  18. Different game times, it's a hell of a lot easier to get psyched up for a prime time game at home against us then a noon start game against Purdue. Before Miller's run, we were doing the same exact thing. After the run our defense lost its mojo. You can't use the transitive property in football. Each and every game is different.
  19. O'Hanlon was pretty fast. I think he ended up running a sub 4.5 40, and he did end up chasing that WR down at VT. I wouldn't put O'Hanlon in the same tier that Thorell is in. Thorell was solid, but had some physical limitations. O'Hanlon was great on a great defense.
  20. I was listening to the BRT podcast on my way to work today and Sam brought up a good point. The defense is 100% looking for perfection. It's hypercritical of itself and when one bad thing happens, the players start pushing to make plays and things snowball. Look at what happened against Ohio State. Miller has a 70 yard run, and all of a sudden we can't stop anything after looking so great in the first quarter.
  21. The biggest thing that needs to happen though is if we let a big play by either Colter or Robinson, we don't let things snowball. Seems like when the first play happens, especially on the road, it leads to a second, then a third and so on. It seems like since the A&M game of '10, once the first bad play happens the players are waiting for the next one to happen instead of doing their jobs.
