  1. I'd like him to put on a few more pounds (no more than 230) but as long as he doesn't lose a step. Putting on weight is never a bad thing in football as long as it doesn't have an adverse effect to your other skills.
  2. Vince Young was a good running QB, but I don't think he was as fast as Martinez. But I guess that's the closest comparison without going back to Lord.

  3. When was the last time a Big XII team faced a QB like Martinez?

  4. The Nunn fumble has always annoyed the hell out of me. People complaining about how we passed it in that situation when it would have been better if we just ran it right at them for the 1st down, but what they don't mention is the fact that the play worked. Nunn caught the ball and had a first down, the Texas DB put his hat on the ball and that caused the fumble. If that play happened the exact same way 10 times, you're probably looking at a fumble at least 7 times. It's not a knock on Nunn, who was a solid WR for his time here, it's a fact that the DB made a great play. But other than that the only bad thing I saw about the team tonight would be the porous Kickoff return defense. Something that needs to be shored up even if this game was an anomaly. Also I noticed Gomes getting burned a couple times on those short crossing routes. Don't know if he was feeling it tonight or what, but it might be something to look at.
  5. I think the defenders take bad angles because they don't think he's that fast. I think only Robinson can compare to what Martinez does off the line.
  6. Knee injury and his recovery not going the way that he wanted it to causing him to transfer to a school closer to home.
  7. I think people are putting too much weight into the K-State win over UCLA. To me, I think it's obvious that the team that lost to K-State wasn't the same team that beat Texas, just like you can say that the Nebraska team that lost to Tech and Iowa State last year weren't the same that went on to beat Oklahoma, nearly beat Texas, and laid the wood on Arizona. K-State hasn't looked great in any of their games after the UCLA game. They've won, but they haven't won pretty. On the flip side, when Nebraska has been on, they've looked unbeatable (1st half against WKU and Idaho, UW full game). Offense explosive, defense stifling, the only knock has been an average run defense. Add to that the week and a half that the Pelini's have to gameplan and fix the problems from the SDSU game, and I see a game that gets out of hand in the first quarter followed Nebraska letting off the gas and playing similar to the second halves of their first two games. NU-42 KSU-17
  8. No the reason Tech was so bad was because they used their alternate white helmet (didn't catch enough of the game to know if they wore all white). Seriously look at last year and you'll see just how stupid it is to use an all white helmet, practically every team that did it lost and lost badly (UF in SECCG, Cinnci in Sugar Bowl, Arizona in the Holiday, and there were a couple more I'm sure).
  9. Ok 3 away games this year is ridiculous and the only 2 games outside the state of Texas is even more (especially since practically every game they play in Texas is going to feel like a home game, no matter where they play, more than not (Tech, A&M, and the RRR only time they are either equal or at a disadvantage)).
  10. For what it's worth, Washington won 32-31. Locker went for 300+ yards passing.
  11. Murray didn't need to take a knee because the ball rolled into the end-zone. I think the rule is that as long as the football touches the end-zone without anyone touching it in the field of play, then it's an automatic touchback. Saw it a lot in one game where the kicker would kick it straight into the end-zone and the return guy would just let it fall for the the touchback. But overall I'm more impressed with Oklahoma then I'm disappointed. When they were rollin on offense, they were great. Seemed like they lost their intensity once they got up 28-10. They are a very beatable team, and Texas looks like they're going to lose 4-5 games this year. They're probably the 3rd best team in the South (Okie State), and I see them in dogfights with the other South teams (including Baylor) more than blow outs.
  12. Oklahoma almost gave Texas the game, now both Nebraska and Oklahoma need to take care of business and get to the Big XII championship game undefeated.
  13. Think one of the biggest hidden losses that we've had this year was David messing up on his one class and not being able to come for Spring Ball and a summer of weight lifting/putting on weight.
  14. We have 3+ years of probably running something similar to what we're running this year, Carnes and Starling are more dual threat than Turner and Martinez, but that just means the offense will look like it did when Ganz ran it in '08. I really don't see us going to far away from the running game in future seasons, especially with all these running QBs we've been signing. I really don't think it matters that we're moving to the Big 10, his brother is already on the team so it shouldn't be a problem. I really don't see him going to Texas, and I do see him as having us in the lead right now and the only other school with realistic shot would be California, if only because they've been shown to be able to effectively use RBs of similar builds to Greens.
  15. If we do run some type of formation like Okie St. did last night, I think you put Robinson at the back. He's had trouble with the Zone Read this year, and just seems like he'd do better running downhill over sideways in the zone read. I do see us doing more screens, WR and RB (with Burkhead), but overall what we've seen from the offense so far is what we'll see the rest of the year.
  16. There should be no problem with Robinson choosing Notre Dame over Nebraska. Sure Bo's turned the program around since he's been here, but we weren't looking to hot when Robinson's class signed.
  17. Just talked about how Nebraska's going to be auctioning off game worn jerseys from the Texas game on the 16th as a fundraiser for the Athletic Department and how it relates to AJ Green (Georgia WR) got suspended for selling his game worn jersey for 1000 dollars to an agent and how their different. It mostly turned into a discussion about how major universities use a player to earn a billion dollars and those players hardly see anything outside of their scholarships. Nothing too bad and nothing that hasn't been talked about a ton of times before. Nothing bad said about Nebraska, just that the fans would love to buy them. Also talked about the CEO to assistant coach story that ran in SI in their choose a word game. Kornheiser picked Second-Act and Wilbon picked Scriptworthy.
  18. I'm fine with Forde picking Nebraska to lose to Texas, but to have the score be 13-12 just reaks of unprofessionalism. It's just looking for a reaction. Not cool Pat, not cool.
  19. It comes from the fact that if you use the person's name you are contractually obliged to pay them for using their likeness. Sure they already are using their likeness, but they could tweak the legal fiction to say that they aren't using that specific person.
  20. Don't think Europe has a sustainable interest in Football, but I'm sure a couple games a year over there (less than 5) would keep them interested enough to sell the games out.
  21. With Thenarse it could be because he isn't comfortable with his ball skills and would rather go for the safe play in tackling the guy over giving up the long touchdown. We've always known that Thenarse went and laid the wood on people ever since he was a freshman on the kick-off coverage team. Wouldn't be surprised if a light gets turned on and he starts playing nearly to the level O'Hanlon was playing at last year (Matty was playing absolutely lights out since after Iowa St.). It's great to see him playing after the ACL tear last year, and to be part of a D-Backfield that already has 10 ints through 4 games and has been talked about as being one of the best ever at Nebraska is something special.
  22. Really think Woodhead's in a position to excel at in New England. He really wasn't going anywhere with the Jets, too many people ahead of him, but now he's getting some PT he's going to show just how good he is.
  23. Were SDSU preparing for this game from the start of the season? Find it somewhat hard to believe that they lose to the teams they played if they were playing like they did tonight. They came in jacked up and popped us in the mouth, we responded with those two quick touchdown drives but then left off of the accelerator almost to the point that they slammed on the brakes. I'm not worried about our inspiration going into the Big XII schedule, I have faith in Bo, I'm more worried about our freshman QB going forward.
