  1. Ford Field, Lucas Oil, Lambeau, hopefully a future Vikings home. There are enough NFL stadiums to use for a rotation for the championship game. I'm sure you could find a stadium in every Big 10 state (besides Nebraska and Iowa) that would be a fine venue for the game.
  2. Well within our goals for the next two years. Texas is going to be down this year (well relatively, they'll still get 9 or 10 wins), Oklahoma would be a winnable game in for the championship. Getting to the championship this year was always our first goal (followed by winning it). But I also think it got that much harder because of our going to the Big 10 next year. The forgotten four's going to play us like it could be their last games against us, thumb their noses at us before we leave.
  3. I think Nigeria's keeper is earning himself a whole load of money with his performance against Argentina (especially stoning Messi 4 or 5 times). He just needs to keep up his form in this game for the rest of his tournament.
  4. Adding Boise before July 1st will allow the MWC to use them in the formula that the BCS uses to ascertain which conferences get automatic bids. IIRC it was said that the MWC was on the cusp of getting it and I think adding Boise will allow them to get the AQ status.
  5. That's a good thing. I still say we're in first with him, we're only changing conferences, nothing else within the program has changed.
  6. 3 seconds of runoff when the clock is supposed to stop does not equal the time that it took for the clock operators to stop the clock once the ball hit the ground during the Big XII championship game. That one second wasn't in my definition of egregious, especially when 2 other high profile games ended on similar clock situations (ND/Mich and Miami/FSU). Rules were bent to get Texas into the BCS championship game, and that's what makes it hurt that much more. I won't say that it isn't right for them to put that second on, because that would've been the right call. The officials just used an interpretation of the rule that hadn't been used all year in similar high profile situations.
  7. Sheffield played lights out. The numbers aren't there but every time we'd get them into a third and more than 10 situation, Sheffield would dodge out of the way of the rush and throw a perfect strike that was just out of reach of our DBs. Seemed like it happened every time in that situation, just really frustrating. Then after our lone touchdown, they did it again. We just flat out couldn't get them off of the field.
  8. Not Mike Golic but the other Mike was giving some mad props about the NU/OU rivalry. Called it his favorite college rivalry growing up and said that if there was one game you were going to see, it'd be that game. But then he showed how out of touch he was in some things by implying that NU/OU was still the same type of rivalry. No matter how much Nebraska wants it to be, it isn't. Oklahoma chose their rival when they decided to not play Nebraska every year when the Big XII came into existence. He was also lamenting about how Nebraska and Oklahoma were now going to be in different conferences. Had some bad things to say about money driving the decisions in college football, and that's pretty much it.
  9. I think the recruits we have right now are the ones who really are 100% committed to coming to Nebraska, no matter where Nebraska is going to play it's football. Will this affect our recruiting this year? I don't think so, or not that much. You look at a number of the guys we're looking at in Texas, and they'll probably first say that they want to win. Aaron Green's looking at playing with his brother and playing in a system that would compliment his abilities. I just think the impact of recruiting when Nebraska moves to the Big 10 isn't going to be that big. Even with a greater emphasis on recruiting Texas since Pelini came on it still seems like we're only getting the kids who've been lifelong Husker fans (Turner), or the Texas and Oklahoma leftovers (which admittedly are still pretty good players).
  10. I'm looking forward to being able to play Minnesota every year. Hopefully when things get aligned, Nebraska is in the same division/pod/whatever that Minnesota is in. My whole family pretty much lives in Minnesota (either close to the Cities, or less than an hour away), so I'd have the option of going up to see them on Friday, go to the game on Saturday, and come back to Nebraska on Sunday and only have to pay for the travel expenses and the ticket to the game.
  11. One thing I'm wondering is why exactly is Texas pushing to move to the Pac-10? Sure Nebraska's a big part of the Big XII (gives the conference a legitimate conference championship game, except Nebraska hasn't been at it's best this past decade), so what's stopping Texas from grabbing another team from somewhere (say Houston, TCU, any team that's been named recently) to fill the 12 team line and then see just how much money they can get when the next round of TV contracts comes up. Texas is pointing it's fingers at Nebraska for breaking up the Big 12 when it'd be just as viable a conference just as long as Texas and Oklahoma were in it. Then in 4 years (or in a couple years) when everyone's looking towards expanding to 16 teams, try to grab the best of the MWC and Conference USA, maybe even Louisville.
  12. I think there's too much smoke here for there not to be a fire. Maybe things haven't been reported exactly how things went down, but I wouldn't just throw this thing away just yet.
  13. PTI is talking about Nebraska moving to the Big Ten right now (both Wilbon and Kornheiser like the move, but talked more about the inevitability of it more than Nebraska). But there's nothing outside of the bare basics we know. Board of Regents have approved the move in an informal meeting, Osborne telling the staff that they're moving, and Fox Sports Ohio reporting that the Big 10 gave the invitation.
  14. I think if Dorsey comes here it'll be a great get no matter the character issues he has everywhere but here. As long as he buys into what Pelini says it's ok with me.
  15. Good story, nice to see they're naming the Strength and Conditioning center after Suh, and they're already using some of the money Suh gave to improve the facilities.
  16. Football wise I think both Kansas schools would benefit from going to the MWC, where it's realistic that they could get 8 wins consistently, instead of the couple years up, and the years down. Outside of Utah, Air Force, BYU, and TCU, who could beat either Kansas team consistently? Of course the best case for them would be the Big XII staying alive (even if the conference loses a couple teams, NU/MU most likely).
  17. It sounds like McKewon is a guy who likes the Big XII and is wondering wth happened to make it practically obsolete in less than 2 weeks. I'd say up until this commit to the Big XII or die thing that Beebee produced, there would've probably been a really good chance that Nebraska would've stayed in the Big XII. Now Nebraska isn't necessarily pushing back, but they know that they are in a position of power. But I think he's right, a few snippets from the media, and suddenly it seems no one wants anything to do with the Big XII outside of schools that have no where to go (the Kansas schools and Iowa State along with either Baylor or Colorado).
  18. My guess if the SEC does expand they're first going to look at FSU and Miami and add in 2/3 of Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, or Clemson, and they'll have their 16. I'm guessing if that happens the Big East and ACC combine to get a conference that could still be considered an AQ. Wouldn't be surprised in that situation of the strong Basketball schools make up a conference for them, or what the Big East was proposing an all Catholic conference or Basketball only schools form their own conference. In that situation the Big 10 would add ND, NU, MU, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, or another Big East team. The Pac 16 includes all the Big XII schools besides Baylor (who would really benefit from being in a non-BCS conference athletically, probably not financially). Baylor and Iowa State go to the MWC, but I could see Kansas and K-State going to Conference USA (a better basketball conference), or they could go along with Baylor and Iowa State to the MWC. Who when they bring in Boise State will enhance their profile to become an AQ conference. (MWC could also poach Houston for the 16th team) I don't know the MWC is awfully close to being an AQ, and they've at least been as strong as the Big East in recent years. So for the AQ conferences will be the Pac-16, MWC, Big 10(+6), an ACC/Big East merger, and the SEC. What the BCS does after everything settles, I don't know, but it's very likely some form of playoff comes from it.

  20. I like the way the US played today against Australia. Wasn't their sharpest in the defense, but I think Buddle asserted his spot beside Altidore next week against England. I liked Findlay, but he just couldn't finish. I think the team that started today is going to start next week, except trade Goodson for Onyewu and Findlay for Altidore.
  21. NU holds the trump card in that if the Big XII wants to actually have a legitimate championship game, the Big XII needs to keep Nebraska in the North. Nebraska really is the only big money winner out of all the North teams. I'm with a lot of people who think that this Pac 10 thing is a bluff to learn exactly what Nebraska wants to do (reaffirm it's commitment to the Big XII, or are we just sitting and waiting for a Big 10 invite). If the Big XII doesn't get the commitment from Nebraska, could realistically see the Pac 10 bringing in those 6 teams. But whatever may come I do not see Nebraska getting left hanging out to dry, we make too much money (4th behind only Texas, Ohio State, and Michigan idk but I know we're ranked 4th nationally) athletically for a major conference to not snatch us up.
  22. I think it was right for Selig to not rescind on Joyce's call and give Gallaragga his perfect game. I'm all for the call being changed right then and there, like if they were able to take the time to look at it and get the call right right afterwards. But to spend the extra day on it, don't think that'd sit well with me, especially since he faced one more batter afterwards. Joyce missed the call, but until the MLB implements some type of replay system for specifically these types of plays, then you have to accept some things. You don't have to like them, they're just going to happen.
  23. I think ISU would be a great fit for Conference USA, if everything goes down in realignment as expected (Pac 10 gets it's 6 teams, and Nebraska and Mizzou go to the Big 10). I think in that situation, Kansas and K-State end up in the Mountain West with Baylor and Iowa State going to Conference USA. Maybe even Baylor going to the Mountain West, I don't know but th Kansas teams, Iowa State, and Baylor are going to be in panic mode.
  24. It looks like College Football Live is going to go over bad calls today because of the terrible one that broke up the perfect game yesterday. Saw the K-State face mask, don't know how much they are going to show of it though.
  25. I think the closer the BAL gets to .2 the worse things are. He was barely above the legal limit and made a poor decision on where to take a piss. Add to that his bad luck at even being caught (because again how many kids are out doing the same thing at the same time). It just seems like something to get completely bent out of shape at when Rothlisberger's getting out of a rape charge only because they can't determine consent because the girl was past the limit to where she could give consent (in legal fiction) with only a 4 game suspension (you know Goodell's going to drop the suspension to 4 games). If anything Paul should've been suspended last year when he got his DUI. This is the type of thing where you run his ass off until he can't stand or do anything for a month outside of just going home and passing out.
