  1. I was checking out a Bama forum after they lost today and noticed this topic. http://www.rolltidebama.com/forum/showthread.php?192118-Auburn-president-making-preparations-for-Gene-Chizik-s-firing-suggests-Shawn-Watson-as-replacement
  2. I think you guys got a good one here! Reminds me a little of drew brees! I'm sure RW would appreciate the comparison, as he has indicated he is one of many BIG Drew Brees fans...
  3. Pete Carroll has officially declared Russell Wilson as the starting QB for the 2012 Seahawks! Congratulations Russell, you worked your ass off and earned it. Gonna be fun to watch....
  4. It appears that "Dangeruss" is in the process of doing the same thing in Seattle as he did at Wisconsin last year. When he was drafted, few around here expected him to be anything but a backup/student behind Matt Flynn for a year or more at least. Then Wilson shows up at rookie mini camp with the playbook already mastered and calls 500 plays in 3 days and only messes up the play terminology ONCE. He completes 85% of his passes in 7 on 7 drills to WRs whom he barely knows by name. Pete Carroll suddenly realizes he has to give this kid a legitimate shot and includes him in the QB competition for the start. Flynn starts the first half of the first 2 PS games and does ok, but Wilson is dynamic, exciting and productive working with the subs in the second half. People around here start to sit up and take notice and demand he get a chance with the starters. PC gives him the start in week 3 against KC and Flynn ends up in street clothes with a "sore elbow". Wilson goes out and leads the team to 6 consecutive scoring drives (would have been 7 for 7 but the kicker missed the FG) against most of the KC starting defense. He commits zero turnovers, appears to read the D effectively, gets sacked twice but has two long runs for 1st downs. T-Jack finally replaces him at the start of the 4th quarter and goes 3 and out for our first punt of the night and the offense stalls with no points in the 4th. Wilson is asked in the post game interview about his performance and he talks only about the success of the TEAM and ends the interview with a shout "Go Hawks!" Everyone in Seattle finally pissess their pants and starts hugging and kissing with joy as they realize for the first time in Seahawks history that they have a potentially great team in the making, and a franchise QB to lead them to glory. John Gruden is smiling from ear to ear and looking like a true prophet on this one for saying: "If I were Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson, I'd be leery of this kid because, if you give him a chance...If you give this kid a legitimate chance to win the job...he'll win it." -Jon Gruden (on draft day) Russel Wilson is the real deal. High IQ, student of the game and monster work eithic ala Peyton Manning. Tremendoous athletic ability, strong and accurate arm, great vision and awareness, elusive as hell when he has to make a play on his own (although he says he hates to run the ball and would always prefer to pass it to a teammate), in command and inspires those around him to play at a higher level. avoids self promotion and focuses on the team dynamic. What can you not like about this guy? He's great to watch and a very intriguing personality and character that you can't help but gush over and admire. Reminds me of Fran Tarkenton but with a stronger arm, more athletic ability and he runs forward more than backward like Tarkenton (and he is starting his career with a good team instead of an expansion team like Tarkenton). I'd never heard of RW until he transferred to Wisconsin. As I watched him play in their 1st four games, I was mesmerised and had a feeling that this kid is something truly special. I called my brother the week before we played them and I predicted we were going to get destroyed by Wiscy, largely due to RW being the gold missing link. My brother agreed and we know the rest of the story. I became a fan of Russell Wilson from that moment on and I couldn't help but dream about what it would be like to have him on OUR team. Well, he is now on my second favorite football team (Huskers 1st of course) and I and the rest of the Seattle area are waking up to the happy reality that the future looks very bright indeed for the Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson....
  5. I have a sense that we are going to have a lot of fun, both on the field and on this board with this new promising set called "The Bone". I'll take a few initial shots: The T-Bone The Rex-Bone The T-Rex-Bone Take it away boys and girls...
  6. I sat in almost stunned, dazed, silent disbelief as the final seconds of this game ticked off the clock. I mean, I honestly felt somewhat disconnected from reality (and I knew I was stone cold sober and hadn't touched a thing!). I couldn't even really cheer like I knew I should and I felt a little confused. That's when, no BS, I turned to my buddy and uttered the following now obvious statement to explain my curious condition. You know what? I think, I'm not sure..., I'm sure I'm forgetting something.... but, I don't think I can recall Nebraska ever, at least in my entire lifetime (51 years) coming back to win a game after falling that far behind.... Wow..... After hearing the official historic announcement on the live TV broadcast, I began to understand why I too completely threw in the towel when OSU went up by 3 TDs, AND why I had sunk into a near catatonic funk that prevented me from recovering in time to fully relish such an exciting and victorious rally. I had been conditioned by our dismal history of being unable to EVER rally from more than a 2 TD or so deficit. I hereby swallow the crow with gusto as I thank and congratulate the coaches and players heartily for The Greatest Comeback in the History of Nebraska Cornhusker Football. May it be a defining and positive moment that propels this TEAM to continue to battle and strive for excellence and doggedly seek to be rewarded with a most memorable and successful 2011 inaugural Big Ten Championship season. I now have renewed hope that it is possible to Win the B1G if you continue to improve your skills and execution and play the rest of the season like you played the second half against OSU, Good luck guys and GGGGGGBBBBBBRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
  7. Looks like adc7236 beat me to this post. Mods, please delete or merge. Thanks.
  8. Pat Hill said this week that he thought the Boise State defensive line was much better than Nebraska. It's looking like he was right, as BS is destroying FS on the road 37-0 at halftime. Kellen Moore is one cool character at QB, never panics, good awareness, almost always puts the ball right where it needs to be. Fresno State had only 1 first down and hadn't made it past their OWN 35 yard line until there were approximately two mintues left in the half. FS finally breaks a long 40 yard run deep into BS territory, then fumbles it away on the next play. Total yards in BS favor @ 305-118 I was a former Boise State hater, but I have come to respect their program and coaching staff. They would certainly have a tougher time in a major conference, but you can't help but admit that they are a well coached and dangerous team who deserves some credit for showing up in big games and winning almost every time the last few years.
  9. Having surveyed the current Top 20 and their remaining schedules after week 4, The Oracle and I feel confident in making the following bold predictions that will determine the BCS championship for the 2011-12 season: The SEC champion will have one loss. OU will go down in bedlam @ a 1 loss Okie Lite team. God will suit up with the Irish this year as they upset undefeated Stanford (Never happy to predict a ND win, but that's what The Oracle says, so what ya gonna do?) Clemson, Texas, Michigan, G Tech, Illinois and K-State won't remain unbeaten (can you believe these guys are the remaining undefeated teams? The Oracle assures me that the entire state of TexA$$ will finally dry up and burn to the ground before the final UT-TAM game, so they're out for sure. I think Clemson is a wild card that could shock the world, but The Oracle disagrees). There will only be two undefeated teams at the end of the regular season and they will be ranked by the BCS: 1.Wisconsin 2. Boise State (makes it in this time but by a VERY narrow margin to whoever ends up in 3rd place) The two will meet later in the BCS championship game at the Superdome in New Orleans. Kellen Moore and Russell Wilson duel it out back and forth on offense in an exciting and close high scoring shootout. The 2011-12 MNC will be awarded to.... Drum roll please.... Boise State (Please don't shoot the messenger, I say Wiscy, The Oracle says Boise State. The Oracle is always right, so what ya gonna do?) Hint: You will need to know how to "turn off" text cloaking to reveal my prediction above. So, do a little analysis and tell me what your computer brain spits out for a prediction now that we are officially a third of the way through the season... Submit your prediction anytime before the 1st official BCS rankings are released to enter this unofficial contest. The winner(s) get a free "Don't Drink the Kool-Aid" tattoo on the inside of your eyelids... ;-o
  10. T-MIght is fast no doubt. Great acceleration too. But that's about it for the positive side... On the downside: Doesn't really have much in the way of a juke that I have seen, just runs fast like a sprinter in his lane. He's a little thin and not a strong runner and is gonna get his ass KO'd one of these days if he doesn't continue to get better at protecting himself. Better, but still dangerous with ball security. Doesn't seem to have the vision/awareness to see the defense and check down to open secondary and tertiary receivers and is prone to throwing pics as a result. Not a consistently accurate passer, definitely can't throw a decent deep ball to compete with top tier defenses. Has happy feet, panics too often, poor pocket presence. I'm not sure if I like his demeanor/attitude. Seems somewhat arrogant to me, at the very least a very peculiar personality..
  11. I didn't mean to suggest Wiscy will win the MNC, just that they will be one of the contenders in the potential mix at the end. Agree they would be tough to pick over LSU/BAMA/OU, but could end up making it to the MNC with some help from the SEC gauntlet and OU posssibly stumbling to Texa$$ or Okie Lite. I will bet anyone that Wiscy ends the season in the top 10 and we will be lucky if we are still in the Top 20 (the reason we won't make the top 20 is because I consider T-Might fragile and expect he will get seriously banged up again before the season ends--- and we all know what happened to the offense last year when he went lame).
  12. I think we ALL agreed prior to this game that Wiscy had played a very weak non-con schedule, and that they rolled them all pretty good (as a truly good team should). And then it rather unpleasantly occurred to me that based on the final score, Nebraska currently fits into the list of weak opponents a little too well for any of us to swallow easily... The Badger kill list so far: 51-17 UNLV 35-0 OR St. 49-7 N. Illinois 59-10 S. Dakota 48-17 Nebraska So, is Wisconsin truly that good, or did the Huskers just lay an egg on the road? I say Wisconsin is a bona fide Top 10 team and MNC contender (SOS will hurt them in BCS rankings though) and that BoPa has lots of things he needs to fix for NU to compete with the top tier teams. Good luck Wisconsin Badgers. You are a class act and you are carrying the torch well that Barry Alvarez has obviously transported nobly and successfully from Lincoln to Madison. You indeed resemble the type of team we used to be and are striving to become again one day. May today be the beginning of the most hard fought but friendly rivalry in all of college smash mouth football. See ya again back in Lincoln (you won't have future NFL QB Russell Wilson next year and hopefully our young team will be more grown up). :-) Now it's time to finally go clean up the Kool-Aid that I spilled after I dove for the hard stuff when T-Might threw his third pick and drove a stake through the heart of my desperate dream of upsetting the defending Big Ten champs on the road and marching on to win the CCG and MNC.... Reality really sucks sometimes, and that's why God made beer, liquor and chronic marijuana.... (Kool-Aid is man-made and is dangerous to your mental health) Peace :-)
  13. +1 After watching our first four games and some Wisconsin replays on BTN, I called my brother in Omaha last Saturday night and made the following statements: 1) TM is not a QB and Russel Wilson is The Man. 2) Our defense will not be able to stop their running backs/receivers AND contain Wilson. 3) Wisconsin looked in control for most of their first 4 games. We looked inconsistent and too shaky to be confident we could compete with Wiscy-- anywhere. 4) The only way I would bet on this game is if you spotted us at least 24.5 points. I would have won that bet, but we couldn't even punch it in from the 1 at the end... I love watching Husker football, but I guess you see things through different glasses when Nebraska isn't really "Home" anymore. From my more objective perspective out here in Seattle, it was obvious that Wiscy was a true top ten team with Russel Wilson, and we will never compete with true top 10 teams with TM as the QB. Sorry if my statement pours salt on the wounds of some of you hardcore fans, but if TM is the best QB we have then we're all going to be waiting a long time to return to the top teir of college football...
  14. From the ESPN Big 12 Blog today, Martinez' dad emails ESPN to clarify his future intentions: "To dismiss any rumors on my thoughts of transferring I'd like to state that I am anxious to get back to Nebraska Sunday evening and look forward to getting healthy and getting my strength and speed back," Martinez said via his father, Casey Martinez, in an e-mail to ESPN.com. "I also look forward to using these past year's experiences and challenges to help me become a better all around person, football player and leader. I feel that with the players that we have coming back, along with the new talent that is coming into the Husker program that we will have great success for many years under coach [bo] Pelini." LINK
  15. Dan Beebe has just issued the following decree from the Big TexAss conference HQ effective immediately: All Nebraska opponents for the rest of the 2010 conference season are required to wear a new protective helmet designed by Beebe, Mack Brown, Gundy and Pinkel. In addition, ANY helmet to helmet contact by a Nebraska player against any remaining Big 12 player will be penalized 15 yards from the spot of the foul and the Nebraska player will be ejected from the game and suspended for the remainder of the conference season. Link to photo of new helmet design here.
  16. We "finished" this utterly disappointing game 8 of 21 for 77 yards passing with 0 TDs. We dropped 8 catch-able balls or we could have finished a good solid day with 16 for 21 in the air for at least twice as many yards and 3 passing TDs. If our receivers caught just the majority of the passes they dropped today and it likely would have made up for ALL of the other team mistakes or weaknesses we displayed. Execute these plays and I think we would all be drunk and happy and swaggering in front of our TVs watching OSU get beat by Wisconsin and booking accommodations in Dallas in December. I wish someone could figure out the psychology that is behind such epic human failures like this. If you are a skill player at this level of competition, you should be able to catch 99 out of 100 (NOT 50 of 100) balls that are thrown over the defender and within your reach. It should be AUTOMATIC! The HARD part of being a pass receiver is learning from your coaches and experience how to be a good run blocker and how to run good enough routes to get open and then do the EASY part that a good receiver can do in his sleep-- CATCH IT! I played all sports up through HS and it's clear even in HS who the guys are that have the necessary hand to eye coordination to catch almost any thing and every thing that is thrown their way. There's not much left to coach once you are born with the innate physical ability necessary to catch stuff with your hands. You either have it or you don't. Watson called several pass plays that successfully put several skill players in position to make a big play in the air to overcome Texas undisputed victory in the ground game. Taylor and Zak both EXECUTED the called play and put the ball away from the defenders and into the catch-able range of the pass receiver. The receivers EXECUTED the hardest part of what they are coached to do and they ran a route that put them in a wide open or advantageous position to catch the ball. After so much good work by so many of their teammates, they had one little easy thing left to EXECUTE, the part that they could do already when they were 6 years old-- and they all CHOKED and cost us another big game and any shot at the MNC this year... The fans and the players will all get over this in our own time and in our own way, but the bottom line biggest difference maker in the game today was that we called the number of several skill players who forgot their hands somewhere on the way to the Big Game. I sure hope they find them soon, because Texas and SDSU proved T-Mart and our run game can be stopped. And as I finish this post, the clock hits zero as Wisconsin upsets OSU and we all just puke our guts out as the college football gods pour salt into our wounds...
  17. I know what video I would suggest right now if I were a part of Bo's inner circle or a member of the team. It pretty much sums up what Bo has been preaching and teaching since he got here on Day One and every time I watch it I feel like I could suit up again and run through walls for 4 quarters.
  18. My thoughts exactly. This is the perfect opportunity for Texas, coming off a bye week, to get a huge upset and put themselves right back in the thick of things. The last thing NU, especially Martinez and the offense, can afford to do is believe the hype 'cause we've already seen what that can do to us. This is still Texas, and this is the game we've put on a pedestal since 00:01. IMO this is still the biggest hurdle we gotta face this entire season. Texas has had our number regardless of which team was ranked higher entering the game. So, even though it's fun to see Horns fans have these reactions, it will only matter when they're having these reactions during and after we play Texas next Saturday. Bo and Co. will have the team ready for TexAss. Count on it. There's no way we lose this game, it's just a matter of by how much. If any one offers you even odds or better, book it and I'll guarantee your money. This game means too much to the team and to Bo and Co. TexAss and their lucky streak will officially end once and for all on 10/16. We're going hunting on 10/16 and we're having fresh Bevo steaks for supper that night. And we're not throwing away the bones, we're going to eat them too...
  19. I'm guessing his surname is of Spanish descent. People often forget that Spain is a European/Caucasion former imperialistic country that conquered and once owned all of Mexico, Central and South America (except Brazil) and much of what is now the southwestern U.S (aka "new" northern Mexico).
  20. Seeing as how Hunter Lawrence now kicks for the Buccaneers.... Dog gam it! Never run Windows Vista on your BASC! This is obviously a bug and my last prediction must be modified. NU 36 UT 14 (No way Hunter Lawrence could make 2 field goals from way down in Tampa!)
  21. OK. I re-ran the numbers after thoroughly evacuating the BS from my Big Ass Super Computer hardware. This sounds more realistic, but not as good as I'd like: NU 36 UT 20 My Big Ass Super Computer says we turn the ball over a couple times and give TexAss a couple easy TDs. Otherwise the final would be 36-6 with the Blackshirts holding TexAss to two very long Hunter Lawrence FGs.
  22. Now that it's game on with TexAss, a little refresher of the facts regarding TexAss and their very narrow advantage over NU during the brief history of the soon to be defunct Big 12 Conference: We played TexAss 8 times, number 9 will be the last. TexAss has owned us in the W column, leading 7-1. 4 of TexAss 7 wins were by a field goal or less. 5 of TexAss wins were by 4 points or less. TexAss beat us once by 10 points in the inaugural Big 12 CCG, sealing the win with one of the riskiest and gutsiest plays I can ever remember a team pulling off. Here's the shocker though- the only other game we played was in 2003 and Bo was the DC and we got somewhat blown out by a margin of 24 points. Final score: TexAss 31 NU 7. Finally, TexAss has outscored us in the 8 game B12 series by 31 points, 184 - 153. Feel free to add any relevant facts and data regarding this NU vs. TexAss series, then I want all you gamblers and numerologists and math quants to run the numbers through the calculator of your choice and give us all your best guess on the outcome of Number Nine on 10/16... Prior to this research, I was predicting a low scoring, relatively close win by NU. Then I ran the the above numbers in through my eyes and out through my ass and came up with this crazy sum: NU 63 UT 2 I'm gonna have to run the math again, because it tastes suspiciously like the best dog gam Kool--Aid I've ever had... P.S. - Sorry about the numerous "TexAss" repetitions, but it it just feels right to me and so I'm going to keep doing it until the last second ticks off on 10/16 and we send those bitches packing back to the oilfields and rodeos and then I will never speak of TexAss ever again. And that's all I've got to say about that...
  23. I agree. I think it will be a tough game that we will ultimately win (I'll take a blow out win though, no problem). However, if half the Texas players are subconsciously feeling the same way as their fans after watching us crush K-State, we just might witness the public castration that we all honestly covet. I'd love to turn those lucky bitches into steers on our way out the door to greener pastures, while we watch them slowly wither and starve to death on 10 million acres of west Texas scrub.
  24. Just thought of a couple T-Magic alternatives to add to the growing list: T-Gone! T-Six!
