Getting a COVID test tomorrow, AMA.

@Cdog923 I've been out and active constantly by necessity. I've had two, both have come back negative. I'm in the same boat, I need to know for the sake of the people around me and since I have the means it's better to have an abundance of caution. I wear a mask, and after 3+ decades I finally quit biting my nails, but you never know!

KSU fans are losing their minds over hiring Klieman.

Place your bets: is Urban still coaching OSU on Sept. 1st?

I don’t know. On one hand I hope he’s gone on the other because of who he is in the state of Ohio he may get to stay.
I’m curious about Shimano taking over though. Doesn’t he have a bunch of baggage too? He was up for the Tennessee job then someone brought up something on him that happened years ago and he was exonerated for I think but folks at Tennessee got their knickers in a twist and said no. He stated at tOSU.
??? (Sorry I just remember this all came up during the Scott Frost MegaThread.

So, Weezer dropped an album full of covers, and I don't hate it? Start here:

I absolutely cannot understand the outrage about wearing a mask.

@Loebarth Yeah, man, f#&% the system! I've got an idea: go drive drunk at 150MPH on the wrong side of the highway to show them you're not gonna let anyone tell you what you can't do! To hell with all of these other people letting anyone dictate what's good for them!

TO admitted at BRB this morning that he didn't know enough about Pelini's character when he hired him.

I get what you are saying but I don't care what he does or says. I only care if he wins. I am not looking to be his friend, he is not a role model for me or anyone I know. Just like I don't care what Bo said or did, didn't impact me at all.
With that said, I have had guys on my staff that were a$$hole$, that impacted me because it was on my staff and I had to deal with it.
I have no standards for Riley when it comes to what he says or does...

How's about we just forfeit the rest of both baseball and basketball season and let them practice for next year?

@Cdog923 The pen is concerning. Schanaman in particular has gotten lit to start the season. SSS though so one can hope it's just bad luck.
-
@Danny Bateman I'm kind of wondering if we need to find a Saturday starter and move Gomes back to the pen.
-
I wouldn't be entirely shocked to see Gomes end up back as a reliever when it's all said and done as he's got Brett Jensen level stuff and having a dude like that on the back end is a great weapon. Everyone is on the absolute struggle bus when it comes to throwing strikes though which means you need to keep Gomes in the rotation. Friday/Saturday was just bananas in terms of walks. Gonna need guys like Blessie to step up.

The Infinity War trailer is here, and I suddenly don't care about anything else now.

Yikes, Lavonte:

@knapplc I don't disagree with that, I just wish Lavonte would have chosen his words a bit more carefully.
-
@Redux yup. Given the history of JW, LD’s comments were pretty soft, but it’s not unexpected from a teammate or friend. I’d estimate 99% of people would use soft language to defend a friend or coworker who they personally know or like. The other 1% are lying that they wouldn’t hold back from lambasting a friend or teammate.

Is anyone buying into the idea that altitude had an effect in the second half?

There was really only one drive that I felt like it mattered, and that was really the only sustained drive Colorado had the entire game. Was at the game walking around and there was really only one time I, out of shape and overweight, lost my breath (walked up the steep hill from the Creek Trail just north of the stadium to the south end to meet up with some tailgaters). Walking around outside of that felt like around Omaha. Do they get benefits from training in Boulder? Sure, but I don't think it had as much effect as somewhere like Wyoming, which is another 2000 feet higher.
If anything, the defense blew their emotional wad in the first half and couldn't keep it up through the end of the game. (Though they were still solid outside of a few breakdowns).
-
Tom Shatel wrote an article comparing Mo Watson and Creighton to Tommie Frazier and '94 Nebraska. I know losing your best player hurts, but can the Omaha media pump the brakes a bit?

Rumor: Justin Fields to Ohio State.

@swmohusker Maybe an unpopular position but that isn't a good reason to grant a guy a hardship. It sucks and that baseball player is obviously a racist jackhole, but aren't waivers supposed to be for injuries or things like sick family members?
But then again, I'd think the NCAA would go to any length to help the storied tOSU program maintain their greatness... Can't poop where you eat, after all.

Thanks, everyone!
Mom and baby are well; baby decided to show up early, so she'll spend some time in the hospital, but we had to do the same thing with #1, so we're experienced in how the NICU works.
It's sort of funny, though: for both of them, we were in the hospital the last two times Nebraska played Ohio State in Columbus. Suffice to say, this year's game stayed on in the hospital room a lot longer than the last one.

@methodical Those numbers are pretty high imo. Theres pretty good numbers showing 75-80% of people that get this wont show symptoms or only very mild, and they wont get tested. The amount of confirmed cases are what they are, but there are and will be ALOT of people that will have gotten it and will get it that wont be tested and wont count to that number. The amount of confirmed cases is WAY low vs actual cases. Many people saying they know people who have had it, they were around them, they themselves got mild symptoms but b/c they werent severe enough they couldnt get tested. The numbers are not true numbers really.

I'm really glad my daughter is only 1 day old, so I don't have to figure out how to explain to her that her country doesn't respect her.

Tournament win next year or bust for Miles.

@Comfortably Numb That encompasses my point: at what point is it ok to have that expectation for basketball? Why can't we say "You have to go win a tournament game", especially with the talent returning to the team? If you continue to have low expectations for the program, you'll never be disappointed with a 5 seed in the NIT.
-
But sometimes it pays to be patient. When you fire your coach you can count on losing most of a year in recruiting. That puts the program in a huge hole for the next guy. When you fire two or three coaches in a decade it's hard to get traction in recruiting, and a base to build on. Eventually you get a rep as an unstable team. (This might hold true more for football than basketball.) That said, Miles has had several years now. So you'd hope his team would start showing results. /jmho
-
@Cdog923 I think we can have that expectation. I guess I'm agreeing with both of you to some extent. I think that should be the expectation this coming season but I also think, in reality, if Miles just makes the tournament that he probably won't be let go. And yes you are right, if we don't ratchet up the expectations for the program when it is warranted like it appears to be now, then we can expect to receive the same subpar results this program has always delivered.

@Moirainealleged wife beater, Moiraine. I'd hate to offend those that defended Zach Smith's virtue when the story broke earlier this year.
And there's probably a handful of people ahead of Zach Smith on the 'let's ban them from Social Media for life' train...but he's angling for a #2 spot here rather quickly.

The hypocrisy at work with how some people are viewing the basketball "search" this year vs. the football search two years ago is staggering.

I think Riley and his team had already quit by the Minnesota game. Hard to really feel too much for a group that has packed it in. Miles crew is playing good basketball right now (for what they have personnel wise) and they are playing basketball the right way. Much easier to feel for him as he is on his way out. With that being said I see nothing wrong with how Moos has gotten Hoiberg if that actually happens. Cant let personal feelings get in the way of doing what is best for the university.
-
@Enhance Mike Schaefer peddling the Moos story on Sharp & Benning was where I first heard it, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if your bird theories have a ton of merit.
