  1. Does anyone have young kids that watch the show "Word Party" on Netflix? If so, don't let them Google what an "Applesauce Sky" is.

I'm so happy for Roby. Would have loved to see him here with Hoiberg but this more than validates his decision. Can't wait to see what he does in the league.

I'm rather sad.  I was really hoping that he would stay for one more season just for maturity sake, but needs must I guess. :(

      VectorVictor

Yeah...there are people on sports radio down here thinking he can be the next Dirk down here. And frankly, Roby's too damn timid and inconsistent to come close.

Buncha whiners. It's the friggen world cup. Point differential matters and if you don't like it, actually stop the other team from scoring. I only hope we hang 14 on Canada.

Okay now I can go back to not giving a rip about soccer.

  4. Chernobyl is, easily, the best television series I have watched in the last five years. Its powerfully bleak true story is well written and impeccably well acted by an amazing cast and crew. I highly, highly recommend both it, and the podcast that accompany it.

@ZRod @Enhance Did they ever revisit the guy from the roof that tore his boot open?

@Cdog923 I haven't seen episode five just yet (my wife works evenings and we're watching it together, so we'll probably see it Friday or Saturday).

However, after listening to the Chernobyl podcast (through episode 4), I'm going to assume no. I'm guessing the directors used character to represent the dangers of working on the roof and the likelihood that many of the men who helped clear it were injured or put at severe radiation risk. It could also be a true story, but not one they felt they a) had time to tell or b) thought was overly relevant to the bigger story.

as a history nerd this show gets a 5/5 from me, there is a an amazing amount of detail and accuracy in the show.

  5. Is anyone else watching Chernobyl on HBO? Tonight's episode was incredibly bleak.

I've been watching it but only made it through the first three episodes so far. I'm enjoying it. I really like Stellan Skarsgard and Jared Harris. I'll have to check out the podcast - thanks for the tip @ZRod.

I told my dad he should check it out. He worked at OPPD's Fort Calhoun plant for 35 years and he was a physicist, so he completely nerds out over this kind of stuff.

    3. ZRod

      ZRod

@Enhance I felt the same way as your dad probably will. I had to reread the wiki for the disaster, learn more about RBK and light water reactors, and read a little on 3 Mile Island. Then I questioned my career choice of why I'm not in a cooler field.

Might trade him away before the playoffs, though. :)

    2. Danny Bateman

      Danny Bateman

      Would do.

Neither of their statlines are large enough to have stabilized this early into the season, but Nola seems off. I had Kershaw for many years in a keeper league, but finally let him go this year with the all the injuries and allure of younger guys.

Still, I think they're both risky at this point, but to me Kershaw is still going to offer elite level performance when he's on the field. Nola probably will but I think Kershaw is the safer bet. Just be ready for him to miss some time.

Jealousy is a terrible, terrible thing Moiraine.

Having women in this role is actually pretty common in football now.   A majority of the ACC and SEC have women as their on-campus recruiting director or in the recruiting department.

They know what they need to do, they are dying for people to subscribe.  The sports writers especially have clearly come together.

  17. The hypocrisy at work with how some people are viewing the basketball "search" this year vs. the football search two years ago is staggering.

I think Riley and his team had already quit by the Minnesota game.  Hard to really feel too much for a group that has packed it in.  Miles crew is playing good basketball right now (for what they have personnel wise) and they are playing basketball the right way.  Much easier to feel for him as he is on his way out.  With that being said I see nothing wrong with how Moos has gotten Hoiberg if that actually happens. Cant let personal feelings get in the way of doing what is best for the university.

Borchardt is averaging 18 minutes a game (skewed upward since the injury to Copeland, no doubt), Harris 11 minutes, Thor 9 minutes and Trueblood 5. The 5 starters? All over 30 minutes a game. It's being proven that there wasn't any reason why Borchardt couldn't have averaged 18 minutes all year spelling both Roby and Copeland, or why Thor and Trueblood couldn't have gotten 10-12 minutes a game to give Watson, Allen and Palmer some breathers. Harris is the one exception because he was sick, but still; if you take 2 minutes away from each of the five starters, who knows how deep the bench could have gotten (or how prepared for Copeland's injury they might have been).

    3. Danny Bateman

      Danny Bateman

So this all just really speaks to how it wouldn't have mattered anyway and Miles just isn't that great of a coach?

I mean I respect the heck out of the guy for giving it his all but he's consistently been outcached a lot in his tenure here despite getting some really talented players to Lincoln.

He just doesn't have that it factor that could potentially make Nebraska a perennial conference contender instead of a fun, scrappy underachiever.

Ha!  I know!  I woke up last night and looked at the score and right away I was like "Well, that is lame" and I was totally over it.  It would have been fun if they made it and it would have been crazy if they pulled an upset.  Now, like most of us...I will forget about them until the next time they are in the conference final.
