  1. Thanks for posting this Duke. Tenopir wasn't allowed to go to practice even to just watch. Wow. He's known Bill Callahan since he was 13 years old and got him a job once after he got fired. Cool stuff.
  2. Here's to hoping the Hawks can bring the Stanley Cup back to Chicago! Great game Hawks...
  3. Friendly vs S. Korea on ESPN right now. Last game before the World Cup.
  4. The Tom Thibodeau Era is over: Tom Thibodeau dismissed as Bulls head coach
  5. as much as I despise Anaheim, he's right... Nah. This isn't Chicago's first rodeo. I am well aware, but those stinking Ducks might be just too physical. For the most part the Western Conference Final is pretty much for the Stanley Cup... You are right. This series has been unbelievable. I'll have to hand it to Anaheim also. Both teams have just played tough and gritty and it's been fun to watch. Even if the Hawks lose on Saturday they have played tough and hung in there even with a sometimes shaky defense and have been a blast as usual to watch. Hard to complain.
  6. Yes I was referring to the story and not the joke itself.
  7. Wow. True dirtballs. This is crazy. please tell me you get the joke from that tweet.... Yes I do. The whole story is what I am referring too. I'm learning just how much corruption has actually been going on. One of the higher up's at FIFA even referred to himself as 'The Godfather' of women's soccer. Unreal. Also apparently the US got beat out to host a future world cup when FIFA instead chose a tiny country where the average temperature is almost 100 degrees. Just some crazy stuff I'm learning about.
  8. Not in the next few years though. If down the road we could halfway put a dangerous team together and give these guys a run for their money that would be huge for Nebraska.
  9. Just a few observations. I always enjoy Rick Sutcliffe's announcing and Kris Bryant is coooold blooded!
  10. The Tommy Hilfiger carpenter jeans that Jeff Makovicka was rocking in the video were so awesome. Haha. Yeah I agree.
  11. Joel Makovicka had some nasty runs. Below the run at 34 seconds and then his monster of a run against Akron at 2:04. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q8alZGTslc

  13. Isn't that the problem? That Bo recruited so poorly, he actually had to play 7 guys that weren't even recruited for scholarship at NEB. No. The Preferred Walk-on Program is an extension of recruiting at Nebraska. Riley said they have something like 150 players during spring practice and expect over 200+ come the fall. Only 85 of those players are on scholarship (well, 88 right now). If 7 of about 120 or so players (about 6%) break into the two deep, that does not speak against the recruiting prowess of the coaches, otherwise, you would have to talk down Tom Osborne's recruiting given the amount of success the Walk-on program had in those days. Rather, it only speaks to the power of the Walk-on program. If anyone doubts the value of the Walk-on Program, do yourself a favor and watch this 1-hr long documentary from netNebraska. 14. Something tells me Nebraska got a total steal in signing O'Brien. Can't wait to see this guy compete. Even though I know a highlight reel isn't always a guarantee of future success the way he throws the ball is still totally encouraging at the same time.
  15. As a long time Grateful Dead fan I enjoyed this. A nice well done doc about Bob Weir with some interesting stories regarding the band and of course Jerry Garcia as well.
  16. That list is missing a lot of players great players which is the amazing part. Husker football or the true heart of the program wasn't even about the Tommie Frazier's or Mike Rozier's who played for us. The walk on program to me is what embodied the entire program. It was also an indicator to me anyway that Nebraska kids could and can flat out play football. The kids in Nebraska grew up idolizing the program. It meant something to them. Nebraska is a unique program in that it's walk on program to me anyway truly was an integral part of what made the program so successful to begin with. Saying that it is over blown is mind boggling.
  17. I'll admit I'm a little biased with Hendricks because my wife and I actually have met him and spent some time with him when we were on a Cubs destination weekend last year in Chicago. He is really a nice guy (at least seemed that way) and after last year, I am hoping he really catches on and has a good career with the Cubs. I haven't been this optimistic with the Cubs since I lived in Des Moines and watched players like Kerry Wood, Mark Prior and Cory Patterson come up through and almost get us to the WS. The young bats are there and (I agree) it may take a year or so for them to fully develop. I have heard discussion about possibly dealing Castro for another pitcher. If that happens, Russell would move to short (his natural position) and we would need to find a second baseman. Right now, we have a ton of pitchers on the roster and (again, I agree) the bull pen has been struggling. Hopefully getting Grim back helps that. If we could find middle relief it would be a huge step forward. We have been struggling with that for the last several years. Yesterdays game was filled with horrible fielding, batting and pitching. Other than that, it was pretty good However, the Cards are on fire and they are going to make one heck of a lot of teams look like that this year. Right now, it looks like we are playing for just trying to win the wild card. However, there is a slight chink in their armor. They have been using their bull pen way too much. If they wear them out, they could go on a streak where they lose quite a few they should have won. First career complete game and shut out tonight for Kyle Hendricks!
