  1. - Taylor Martinez (+) Speed, Acceleration, Experience, Game changing break away ability. (-) Inaccurate at times, Pocket awareness/has trouble making plays when pocket breaks down, poor decision making, Durability I think he is the best we have coming back b/c of his experience. He will get better as a passer he really needs to improve his accuracy, he throw the ball behind his receiver way to many times last season, he made some good throws to, he just needs to get more consistent. I'd like to see him improve his pocket awareness too, we know he has got great speed, but last season when the pocket broke down, he just wasn't very good, he didn't make as many plays as you would expect a speedy guy like that to make when pressures on. I like to see him move away from the pressure and either find an open receiver down field or take off and run with it. The play calling can help him too, get this guy out of the pocket, change the launch points more often. - Brion Carnes (+) Great pocket awareness, Athletic, Accurate passer. (-) Lacks college level experience, Lacks size. He could make a big push for PT. Especially if the offense that Beck runs resembles more of the 07 Kansas offense than the 10 Oregon offense. Seems like he is at his best when he iss improvising, his pocket awareness is impressive. Even when he is moving away from the pressure he keeps his eyes down field and finds that open receiver. You need a guy like that especially if you have an offensive line that struggles with pass blocking. Yes he lacks College level starting experience, but he was a four year starter at QB in high school, which means he has more experience starting at QB than Taylor does College and High School combined. - Cody Green (+) Size 6'4" 230, Good arm strength and accuracy, has some game experience under his belt (-) Lacks explosiveness speed/quickness for the zone read option run game, skill set just does not fit the run spread offense : I think he is a capable QB but he just doesn't fit what Nebraska is trying to run offensively. I think he could have eventually grown into a solid starting QB in Watsons WCO, but the change in philosophy doesn't fit his skill set. Now if they run more of a Kansas (Mangino) Spread he might stand a better chance. - Bubba Starling (+) Great Size, Superior running skills(acceleration/speed/explosiveness/physicality), Ability to make people miss, Arm Strength (-) raw as a passer(played in a running offense, did not throw very often, might have trouble reading defenses in the pass game) (hope he stays a NU, but can't blame him if it opts to take the money) He would fit the running spread perfectly. And if he did stay I could see both him and Martinez getting significant PT at QB. He looks every bit as explosive as Taylor, but runs more physically and has the ability to make people miss. Most talented runner out of all the QB's on NU's roster. He has obviously got a strong arm, but just did not pass in high school, he has a ton to learn in the passing game. - Jamal Turner: (+) Elusiveness/change of direction/speed/explosiveness, live arm (-) Lacks size Very confident, he will get a crack at QB, but if Starling stays I hope they put him at the slot receiver and get him on the field next year, unless of course he is the best QB and beats everyone else out for the starting spot,
  2. I'm real excited about Nebraska going into the Big Ten next year, I can't wait, but..... It seems like they're getting a bunch of things wrong. - Even though I think the divisions are fine the way they are now, I still think it would have been better to just have a geographical East-West split. - Since they were so set on making the divisions equally competitive, you'd think they would have made the schedules a little more fair/even, (alternating Wisconsin and Ohio State) - this one is the biggest deal to me. - Ohio State and Michigan playing the last game of the regular season, I know it is tradition but, if you are going to have a Championship Game the cross-divisional games should be played early to mid season then have the in-division games in the second half of the season(this would make the games have more of a playoff feel to them, they'd be a lot more meaningful. Those final games of the regular season could decide who goes to the CCG. - Legends and Leaders is just plain cheesy! You'd think they could come up with something a little better. The fact that they decided to go through it and test it out for this season baffles me. I don't mean to pick, but just some things I'm thinking about in the off season. GBR!!!
  3. If Martinez is saying to people that he is going to transfer after the season, I don't see why Bo would keep him on the team let alone start him in the Big 12 Championship game. We've seen in the past Bo does not hesitate to cut a guy lose for the betterment of the program.
  4. I hope so. Martinez far exceeded my expectations this year. He was never the same after his injury, although he looked quicker Saturday than he has since the injury, he was close but not quite a 100%. Who knows what how good he can be the next 3 years. I hope he stays.
  5. I hope they would give Scott Frost an interview to at least see how well versed he is in that explosive Oregon Offense.
  6. I like the potential of Scott Frost. He is a young up and coming coach, if he knows the ins and outs of the Oregon Offense it would be great to bring that here. I've heard he is a pretty good recruiter as well.
  7. I have to go with OSU. I just think that their Defense gives our Offense the best opportunity to score points between them and OU. I think that OU's defensive unit is far more athletic than OSU's and would pose a huge challenge for NU's Offense to put points on the board. I know OSU's Offense is scary, but I don't think they will be quite as productive the second time around against NU's D. w/ Bo and Carl getting a second chance to scheme against that offense. - I pick OSU purely b/c I think that gives NU the best chance to win the Big 12 Championship and that's what I want more than anything this season. - OU would be nice for sentimental reasons. But I think that is a much tougher match up. - aTm seems to be out of the picture but that is the game that I would like to see the most if it were possible for obvious reasons.
  8. Nebraska 5-0 (in Big 12 North play) Missouri 4-1 (in Big 12 North play) How can there be division co-champions win you have only 1 team that is undefeated in division play? Doesn't make any sense to me. I could see if there were they were both 4-1 in the division, but that is not the case this year. In the immortal words of Duncan MacLeod "THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE"!!!!
  9. It's too bad they can't slide us into that Rose Bowl slot left vacant by Oregon(if they remain undefeated and put in the BCS NC game)... That would be awesome going into next season, it would be like a preview of the Big Ten next year. Or play Boise State. They were in the Fiesta against Oklahoma, but I think the Fiesta gets the last bid so they will probably be taken by then...
  10. I doesn't matter to me if Oklahoma is still ranked ahead of us, if we take care of business next week against MU we'll be ahead of them next week.
  11. So much for their excuse for not coming to Lincoln for the UT game. Texas has two losses and its not gonna be a big game in the public eyes. Well guess wat, I can give two sh**s about USC/OU. USC sucks! No kidding, USC will probably get blown out anyway. Sanctions and all they are still all over USC's junk, there not even bowl eligible. It's too bad it would be a great atmosphere for Game Day to be at especially if they were able to switch it to a night game!
  12. Nebraska vs Missouri is the biggest game next weekend, USC is not even ranked it would make more sense to have it in Lincoln. I don't see why they they can't change the kickoff time based on what happened this weekend I think a game time switch is warranted. And having Game Day there for a night game would be HUGE for recruiting. Is there some kind of petition we can send to the Game Day crew to get this thing in Lincoln?!?!?!?!
  13. I realize that Mizzou looks like their about to win this game, but an undefeated Oklahoma team #1 ranking is the best chance we have to get in to the National Championship game as a one loss team. Voters are all about what happens now. If Oklahoma loses tonight even if we beat Mizzou and win out the rest of the regular schedule that Big 12 Title game will have lost some luster and probably lose a few votes in the polls.
  14. hire Yeah if we lose one of our offensive coaches, he has to be priority # 1 for replacement, it would be nice if they could just hire him regardless if we lose an assistant or not! Maybe hire him as an assistant coordinator, he has got to have some good insight on how they run their offense up there at Oregon, it just seems like the run the zone read so much smoother than Nebraska does, it seems like their blocking schemes open up bigger holes than ours do, they can't have that much better personell on line then Nebraska. Although I don't see that happening unless Watson leaves. It would sure be awesome if we could get him on our coaching staff some how some way!
