  1. I'm still on the Cody Green bandwagon...I just don't think he's suited to running so many damn zone reads. We need to line up in the ace sets, i-formation and go straight at the Buffs. Let Green hit some intermediate passes (10-15 yards) and don't make him throw horizontally. Get him in a rhythm throwing down the field, over the middle. Most of all, the coaches just need to show Green that they believe in him. Come out and call a great game and let Cody do everything he can to win the game for us.
  2. Haha I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say "act like you've been there before" when a player celebrates a TD...now our freshman QB doesn't celebrate enough? These guys can't win.
  3. Watson's always seemed to improve as a playcaller when we throw more. Today he let Martinez fling it around a little bit, and we looked good. Now, I'm not saying we should transform into Missouri or Oklahoma overnight, but this game should give us more confidence in throwing on 1st downs in the future.
  4. After the visit he said that he had kind of been thinking about going to see some other schools, but the visit made him realize that he made the right choice with Nebraska and he couldn't be more excited to get here. This kid will unseat Martinez. Not right away, but at some point when they're both here, Turner will take over. He's just got everything you want in a QB in this system. He's a much better passer than Martinez at this point, hence the reason you see top schools coming after him as a QB, unlike Martinez.
  5. Sounds to me like he's talking about it's the last time they're playing Texas/the big 12 teams.
  6. Jesse Palmer was right in saying that when Martinez is on, we are a top 5 offense in the country. The kid is absolutely explosive on the ground, and that opens up so much in the passing game because teams gear up for the 3 headed monster of Martinez/Helu/Burkhead each week. Kyler Reed is quietly becoming a big play guy. Since he's a basically a WR playing TE and teams fall asleep on the passing game (especially in those 2 TE sets), he can kind of just sneak down the seam and blow by defenders. He could be a big weapon this year.
  7. If Martinez struggles (completes <50% of his passes, multiple INTs), I think you HAVE to give Cody Green the ball. If they really were that close in the fall camp, then Cody deserves a shot too. However, if the team is still up big despite Martinez struggling, let him work through his issues. I think as long as the game is in hand, you don't pull the QB. Say we're down at the end of the 3rd Q and TM hasn't done much of anything...go to Green and see what he can do. Let's just hope Martinez plays lights out and this topic never has to be revisited. I would like for this team to have some stability at QB, regardless of who it is (and I'm a Cody Green guy).
  8. I agree with a few of you guys, if they were to do one thing differently, I'd love to see the red socks again...those were sweet.
  9. That last set of numbers is bad. Reminds me a lot of last year, except last year we weren't that bad against our out-of-conference opponents.
  10. Good to hear he's got that fire in him...hope it makes all the difference in the world. I think he's got a ton of talent, and if he's got the right attitude on top of it...well then he'll be a fun one to watch for the next 4 years. I still think we need to hold off on the huge expectations...he's going to have to play well against teams much better than WKU, and he'll have to beat some teams by throwing the ball well.
  11. Like others have said, Cody knows he's only a snap away from going into the game and possibly starting the rest of the year. He's got too much talent at QB to move him to WR/TE. I still think he'll end up starting at QB for Nebraska before it's all said and done, whether it happens this year or two years from now, I think it will happen.
  12. Bradford won it as a RS Freshman, won it again as a RS Sophomore (played in NC game against Florida), and got hurt his junior year then went to the NFL.
  13. This question was about his THROWING ABILITY...the reporter asked how hard he's had to work to improve his passing, he said not that hard at all because he's "always been able to throw" but no one has been able to see it...yes he's cocky, but he did not say he didn't work hard to become starting QB.
  14. I don't think being disappointed with this game is a bad thing. There were plenty of areas to improve upon...but it's game #1, and that's usually how it goes. That's why you have teams like WKU and Idaho up first on the schedule...so you can work those kinks out without losing games.
