  1. The other boards are going to have to modify their system for us!

Coach Lamar and Coach Mo are some of the best in the business, and we're all honored to be here. We're going to get this board back to where it needs to be.

@Redux I think you might be on to something with both those points. Ever since Columbine there has been this desensitization and glorification of mass shootings. Couple that with action movies and what not, and especially too lax of gun laws and you've got yourself a huge issue. I think that Pandora's box has been open for far too long to think a rounding up of weapons could be extremely successful, but something has got to change. Stricter background checks and preventative measures would be a damn good start.

      commando

any regulation at all is fought tooth and nail by the NRA and the current administration so new laws are out of the question.  heck....the evil libs enacted exactly 1 gun control law while obama was president (a law designed to let law enforcement organizations trade info easier about mental patients) and trump repealed that law.    so i guess our best possible answer is to  ignore the shootings

All, please be mindful of our guidelines with politically-themed content in status updates. If you want to discuss the NRA, gun control, or similar topics related to this recent shooting, please do so in P&R. I don't have a problem with sharing the news of the mass shooting. Thank you.

We saw Anthony speak in Omaha a few years ago. Still one of the more fun evenings I've spent in the past several years.

Shocking to see him go. We just lost a friend to suicide about six weeks ago. Never saw it coming, and sounds like Anthony's friends/family didn't see this coming, either.

  9. Anybody ever sell tickets on AXS? I'm getting pretty pissed. I bought tickets to Jim Jeffries and needed to sell them. They've been up for over a week at a comparable price to other near by seats, and nothing... I go to look to see if I can find them for sale on their site and I can't even filter to the price range they're at. It caps it at $50. I don't think anyone can even see my tickets!

Btw found out after I bought them AXS sells a lot of your info to third parties.

  11. Anybody got a bright idea on how to remove a toilet flange over a 3in ID pipe that's welded properly? Everything says try to chisel it off, but good luck...

Secret is to take the outer collar off a small chunk at a time. Try to score about a 1” wide chunk, pop it off with a screwdriver and then do another small chunk. If you try to take too much at once you may break the pipe (then u b screwed).

    3. Scarlet Overkill

      Scarlet Overkill

@Cdog923 and I have the same solution

    4. ZRod

      ZRod

I ended up just buying a flange to fit inside the 3 inch pipe. I don't think I can take a s#!t big enough to clog it anyway. It's got a rubber gasket so I can always go back and replace it the "right way" if it doesn't work out.

  12. Anybody have a tankless water heater? Thoughts/opinions on getting one?

Our electric tank heater seems to be on it's last leg. There's barely enough water for a hot shower, and when I tried to flush it last night water would barely run out of the valve, but I turned the cold water valve on and sediment shot out before it plugged up again. At this point it's probably just as easy to replace as to fix.

The near instant hot water is great, being able to let both kids take a bath separately and then take a shower with hot water still available is why I went tankless with CNG.  The wife has her big tub and can actually have hot water the whole time and the warranty was double our old stand up water heater.  I have heard some pipes don't work with them but we built our house in 2015 with the right piping for it.  I recommend it if you have a large family.

    3. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

@ZRod Your existing furnace flue pipe may be large enough to handle the additional BTU’s of a gas water heater. Roughly, 4” or smaller won’t be big enough, 5” might be big enough and 6”+ likely is large enough. A HVAC guy should be able to tell you how large of a diameter flue is needed. Then you would know if gas is even an option. The little bit of vent piping from a WH to furnace usually amounts to nothing but, if the main stack isn’t big enough, I’d forget it

If you can add more electrical service/panel room reasonably, I’d still try for an electric tankless over an electric tank. Just my preference, I don’t like electric tank heaters.

I installed a natural gas tankless in my last home and loved it, but I went with a gas tank water heater in my new house. There are pros and cons to both setups but I found that I wasted too much water waiting for the tankless to start heating and for my lines to clear the cold water. I have a tank system with a hot water loop now so I have almost instant hot water anywhere in my home.

We always buy it when we go on cruises.  Yes, the medical coverage is helpful, but for cruises it also protects you if you miss the ship due to flight delays/weather.  I think that we have always used insuremytrip.com to find the best price/coverage.

On the painting topic, I recommend getting an 18 inch wide roller with a 1.5 inch wool nap. It will make painting about as easy as you can make it without using a sprayer! Sprayers are also great, but a big investment usually.

On the massaging topic, I love foam rolling! When I don't do it for a while my legs and hips get so tight. I usually look up videos online for pointers.

I've always wanted to get into photography, I used to be a good artist in high school and can still draw a bit. I'm going to Europe for the first time in a few months and thought it would be good to have a camera there.
