  1. I guess ideally Obama wouldn't be vacationing at home in Hawaii until the bill is signed. But other than that and calling Boehner (which apparently doesn't work anyway) there's not much he could do. And all it would do is save face for him, so realistically it would be a meaningless gesture.
  2. All this drama has got my head messed up. I didn't mean to jump your comment like that, I apologize. I guess I was just curious as to what the sanctions were being too lazy to look them up mysefl, which I have now done.

ACC, actually! The game was moving too fast for them. But yeah, lot of chippy play that went unchecked.
  4. Sounds good but how would you go about it. The severity, intent, and even location of a hit can look different from every angle and speed. Maybe review them if there was clearly no helmet contact, but then you drastically slow down the game.
  5. I think we are in the minority. Most people have crucified PSU already. The NCAA was quick to attach the Sandusky crimes and the unsettled legal issues with the University directly to the football program. I read the court filing and while it does contain some opinions on the state of the NCAA and Emmert but it does have some very good points. The one that stood out to me is that other universities have been charged with serious crimes (Baylor cover up of a murder; UVA and Montana St rapes) and the NCAA did nothing in those cases. The filing states the recent criticism of the NCAA led them to take this serious action against PSU. The court filing did not play that up enough imo. Baylor's basketball program did indeed receive sanction over that situations. They couldnt even play any non-conference games for a season or two. But they didn't cripple them and charge the athletic department 60 million did they. I'd say murder and child rape are on par with each other, granted the amount that happened at PSU is beyond belief.
  6. Glad someone shares the view point. It makes it really hard for me to even want to argue the point with all the crazies in Happy Valley. Probably like a defense lawyer for a client he knows is guilty of murder. Paterno's name is forever tarnished because he failed to do the right thing himself when others wouldn't, and they can't seem to get that. That's why I say if you want to strip wins and anything affiliated with him over the time period that would be fine. It's like taking away wins and awards for Reggie Bush, he was ineligible. But I truely feel the NCAA has made a very serious over reach here. I don't think they were out to get PSU but they certainly wanted to make an example of them, and did so in a way I don't know that we've ever seen before. I just don't feel they should be getting involved in legal issues that are clearly being dealt with.

So who thinks Oregon should be playing in the NC instead of Bama? I DO!!!
  8. Just random thoughts off the top of my head: Are they free from sin or aren't they? If they are declared free from sin, and they commit what we consider sins what the heck does that mean? Will they be treated as animals or equals? After all they likely won't be human so what from the bible applies to them? We as humans have a tendency to treat a new civilization of our own specieas as savage and inhuman. What about their religion, if they have one? If they did it would be in serious conflict with ours if it wasn't Christianity (more than likely not, since Jesus died here on Earth) and how could god just leave them out of the loop?
  9. The universe is a pretty expansive place, takes more than a few hundred years for waves of any form to travel across it. Even the catholic church itself acknowledges that there could be alien life. Of course that opens up a whole other can of worms for them. And just remember when you look at those stars it's like going back in time, we view the nearest star 4 years in the past.
  10. Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality... Open your eyes, look up to the skies and seeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
  11. While there's validity to that Junior, Nebraska was never predestined to be in position to win a championship by simply being in the right conference. How can a two teams lose to the same opponent, one at home and one on a neutral field at the begin of the year, and one team drops only 1 spots while the other drops 10? Something is seriously wrong there.
  12. But is it really outright when the system is basically rigged for you and your conference to have an almost automatic NC bid as long as you drop no more than 1 game? Is it really outright when you didn't win your own conference had one loss, and another team with only one loss from and AQ won their conference and got snubbed? I think youre reading into my comments as if I'm disagreeing with you. I'm trying to point out that Bama's title last year wasnt nearly outright. I agree with you. The overblown perception of the supposed SEC dominance triculates to the human polls, which have a great effect on the BCS Standings making it pretty easy for an SEC team with only one loss (or 2 for that matter) to make the title game. Or even worse, two SEC teams period. Oh, you sly dog you! I think this cold messed up my sense of context, I knew we were usually on the same page. We really need some of those Georgia boys in here for their side of the story. I like them, but they still have SEC blinders on.

  14. Nobody ever wants the federal government around until they're in over their head, then they come running and cry where have you gone? If anything this last election proved that the majority of this country is too stupid to realize the fools they reelected are the problem. I'm not talking about anyone party, just the status quo.
  15. I'm thinking this dude's an Iowa troll...but either way, pretty low brow stuff. Pretty much how I envision the typical southerner acting/speaking. +1 I've never understood why some fans of opposing teams feel the need to go on others board and say "great game guys!!" Gee whiz, thanks a bunch, it means a lot, really appreciate your affirmation now go away. Well considering that I have been posting on here for a month now, ever since the match-up was announced, I didn't see the need to totally dissappear. I would have come back win or lose. Also, since most Husker fans were expecting a blow out and the game was basically even for three and a half quarters, I thought it was a great effort and a great game. At any rate, I like it here, so I will probably be dropping in from time to time. It's good people. Don't worry about that fool, I don't know that he's posted anything of worth in his 36 posts. The overwhelming majority of you Bulldogs have been a pleasure to have around here. And I really appreciate your views and honesty. Don't be a stranger!
  16. I'm actually glad they're doing this. I felt all along the NCAA over stepped their bounds. It was a legal and judicial issue not an athletics issue in anyway. If you want to strip the wins and all that stuff fine, but to cripple a program for things that will be sorted out in court is unprecedented and in my opinion outside the NCAA's jurisdiction.
  17. Oh so Wilbon thinks Clowny is better than Suh was, really?

      Nice NUance, nice!

When he completely derails a heisman front runner in a championship game, breaks another hopeful in the regular season, and keeps his team in almost every game then I'll consider it.

The play Clowney made yesterday was unreal. But he didn't exactly dominate every snap.

Yea he didn't have great numbers. Besides that fumble he only had 4 tackles.

  18. What angers me about that whole situation is the spin put on by the commentators. The nerve of them guys to place the blame on Taylor for not getting out faster. What the hell. The SEC love fest and bias is out of control. Well they were right! It's a problem he's had his entire career. He lets up when the side/goal line is in sight. Was the hit excessive, yes. But more importantly it was completely legal. Jessi Palmer loves Nebraska and more specifically Martinez. There was no bias there, it was the truth. They did heap all the praise on Georgia during the game but after our CCG performance what more could they really say about us.
  19. Haha, I love this! He's gotten more praise from an SEC fans than he does from his own fan base. I just wish we would have called a few designed QB runs, when he started chirppin with that #32 or whoever it was you could tell he just wanted to bust loose for a big one. Thought you guys were a class act minus that guy. He was kind of a punk, didn't have any reason to run his mouth either. He got beat plenty of times by Taylor and the only shot he gave was in his back when he was heading out of bounds.
  20. Pretty much spot on with how I feel. I think I'm more excited at the end of this season than I was at the start of it. A win in the bowl game would have been amazing! Setting us up perfectly for a NC consideration like you said, but it shouldn't be too hard for us to climb our way up as things stand right now. SOS probably won't help us out though. This bowl game wasn't a morale victory but it was an affirmation that the gap between us and the "Elite" programs is pretty small and anyone who doesn't realize that has blinders on. With better safety play we maybe drop 2 games this year. I can't remember UCLA too well but I think we would have won that one, and we definitely would have been in the OSU and CCG. And all other things being the same I think we would have forced overtime or one by a touchdown in the bowl game.
  21. But we didn't win the game, and I don't know if you can find a Husker fan that would honestly tell you we belonged in that game.
  22. Relax it was just some good natured ribbing, and we are talking about athletes not the university as a whole. There's not much of an argument in that since Nebraska leads the nation in Academic All Americans. I've always had respect for Georgia, they are probably the classiest of the big boys in the SEC. As for those 40 times, you did watch the game didn't you? Pretty sure our guys were step for step with yours most of the game, it just came down to talent and execution. Something we've been lacking all year long. The SEC doesn't play football any different than the B1G, Big 12, or the PAC 12. You just have the advantage of picking from the cream of the crop in higher population centers with a more pleasant climate. That's your advantage over the B1G and some of the Big 12. I don't know what you're talking about with the option. There are many variations of it and just about every team has it in the play book. I know you didn't say this, but to claim that it doesn't work in the SEC is either ridiculously ignorant or you're a complete fool. The option works at every level of football in some form or another. RGIII and Cam Newton (to some extent) have proved that the past 2 years.
  23. Yeah, I just laugh when I hear their "praise". The guy was driving the pile and breaking loose for big runs against god's conference. He'd be a gamer anywhere he played. And Ameer flat out broke some ankles today, just wish he could take care of the ball. That should be his number one priority this off season. I think poor safety play was our biggest problem again, but this time in pass defense. I'm not sure if it was by design or if they were just out of position, but it seemed like we were trying to jump routes in the middle as opposed to staying deepest as the deep and helping out the corners.
