  1. Frost had the luxury of running Tom's offense, Crouch had to run Frank's. Big difference, IMO. I agree w/ you hoyamannn about the offense being different. In the TO years we had the "option", In the FS years we had the QB "keeper". On the flip side of that I would say our IB's were better in the TO championship years than the FS years.
  2. That's good news. Any word yet on the Picou's? I have heard Rodney is gonna make it but Jordon is not. Just wondering?
  3. Gotta be red. That way after we smash teams they can look at their helmets afterwards and see all the red streaks in them.
  4. Lets just hope the whole team shines and they have a kick a$$ year
  5. Im not saying that our secondary wasn't terrible last year, because it was. I'm saying that you can't count on this secondary being automatically better because we got a couple of good recruits in. One of our players expected to contribute, Green, is going through a position change. Obviously there are going to be problems when you go through your 3rd DC in 3 years. We wouldn't have had 3 dc's if there wasn't a problem. I agree w/ you that motivation was a problem last year. Maybe that came w/ players just wanting to get through the season so they could go to the draft and make their $$$$. I know it could be a little rough in the beginning. I just hope that we can see continual improvement throughout the season where they are running on all cylinders by the end.
  6. How can you say we have better defensive backs this season. We lost 2 db's that were drafted top forty. Washington was a 3 year starter. Who do we have in the db backfield with substancial experience. Just bullocks. I think grixby will turn out allright, I see him like washington was when he started. Thrown to the wolves as a freshman, burnt quite a bit, but becoming a solid player in the end. His size somewhat concerns me though going against a 6'4" 215 lb receiver. Hopefully he will turn out like Miles. As for the other corner there is no one that has been proven at a D1 level. Sure bowman sounds good on paper, but he has never played at this level. I hope he does turn out to be the lockdown corner we need. As for FS we lost an all big 12 player. Sure shanle played well in his appearance against Kstate, but we need him for a whole season, not just one game. I know there are other athletes that will hopefully step in and contribute, green, wilson, souder, brothers, defrand(if he is healthy) but my point is that we lost 2 highly drafted nfl players in the secondary last year and I don't think you can say that the players we have now are better. I don't think the secondary was burnt so much last year because of lack of talent. It was predicted as one of the top secondaries in the nation at the beginning of last season and they ended up finishing the season 110th. Hopefully our pass rush is better this year and it looks like our lbs have better speed to cover the flats and get deeper drops in coverage. All of this working together will give us a better secondary, not just better db's, which I can't say we have.
  7. They have him listed on the 2005 roster as number 28. They also have both Picou's. Don't know if they put that in there to anticipate they are going to make it and then change it if they don't.
  8. Sounds like BC is really high on this kid. He is excited to have a big back. Might be seeing the playing field early.
  9. So is Wilson in or not. He took his final on Friday right? How long does it take to report final grades. Especially for something as important as qualifying acedemically to attend a four year university. Any new news??
  10. I just read that the graduates were given gifts. These occurred while ol' Roy was there. The violations had to do w/ mens and womens bball and football. But of course the school only offered to reduce the scholorships in womens bball and football. The men's bball violations will result in "extra education" about gifts.
  11. What about Calvin Jones from the early 90's. I remember I was at the game against kansas where he rushed for some 300 yards and had 5 or 6 tds. He left aftr his Jr. yr. I think he was drafted by the raiders, but never heard much about him. Same with the rb. before him. Brown I believe. I cant remember i was young then. He also left after his jr. year and had a very quiet pro career if one at all. He got a Super Bowl ring with the Packers...on special teams...apparently he was a pretty decent special teams player, but nothing more. Nice guy, though...interviewed him once right before he was drafted, and was very amicable. Didn't know he was w/ the packers. A sb ring is more than a lot of players can say

  13. Agree, he tried, but it didin't work out I agree gamecock. He would get lucky on deep balls every once in a while. But there were also many times where he would have a receiver open by 5 yards and throw it over his head. With lord it was hit and miss. It is too bad the coaches didn't see sooner that he sucked as a passer and was an excellent runner. He would have made a damn good I back. I realize that his jr & sr. year we were really thin at qb. The years he played we were really lacking in that stud i-back department. He could have been a great one. Lord was by no means the biggest flop of all time though. He didn't have the best talent around him, and I feel was playing out of position. Imagine this scenario, Sr. Lord at I back and Fr. JD at qb running the option attack.
