Even Tom Osborne had a number 1 rated recruiting class in 1985. Under no circumstances will this class go from 59th to the best NU recruitng class in 20 yrs. I'm predicting that this will be the worst class since Bob Devaney's first season. Thats pretty sad, but thats where we are with BO. hey shark, i've been following recruiting since blue chip magazine.........it was way before the internet, my experience with NU recruiting is that we rarely, and i mean rarely, pull in our top choicies the last 5 days of recruiting...............and even if we do hit on all the noncommitted guys, we still wont even sniff what michigan and ohio st have committed!

jgreen, have you walked through oregon's facilities? How do you know they are better? Dylan, you are acting like Pelini is facing more difficlulty than TO. Its the the same school, same town, same climate, that TO won THREE NATIONAL TITLES!!!!!!!!!!! The University has given him recruiting tools that Tom never had!!!!! So why are you playing up the we can't recruit because we live in nebraska? THAT IS bullsh#t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Callahan had no problem recruiting! Its a fact! The top HS kids don't want to play for Pelini PERIOD!!!!!!!!! His image out weighs what our facilities have to offer.......................IT IS A FACT!!!!!! Why does nobody see this or understand this?

Dylan, are you serious? TO was winning 9 games a year in an 11 game season 9-2 is alot different than 9-4. TO, and THE DONORS to the NU football program have given Pelini EVERY CHANCE IN THE WORLD to succeed, and he is failing miserably. Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan St, Ohio St.....they are all cold weather schools, when are people gonna quit making excuses for Pelini?

HANC, have you toured the facilities lately? I have a couple different times, the players who don't choose Nebraska, all say that they have not seen anything facilities better. I've been lucky enough to see the locker room to the players lounge, its plush. T.O. never had the advantages that Pelini has today. Thats my point.

never said callahan was a great coach, but he was a great recruiter.........you have to have them on campus to have a chance......how do you feel bout NU being ranked 59th with only 6 days left to go until sighning day? I'm almost 45, and in my lifetime NU has never been ranked that low in recruiting. Don't give me this "small class" crap, 19-21 is not a small class..........we have today, more walkon commits than scholly commits...........not gonna win too many b10 titles or BCS games............its reallity...........

bshirt.........ALL of the schools you mentioned wanted to be just like NU back in the mid 90's. What has changed since then other than we NOW have the BEST FACILITIES in college football? mmmmmm..........might be the head coach.............just guessing.

Enhance, when was the last time an NU defensive lineman even touched a mobile qb? Oh, and Bama did a pretty good job of it in the NC game.

Totally agree with Skersfan..........NU has the best facilities in college football and Boise St. is a NC contender, long enough to prove it isn't a fluke. Both northern schools, is Boise St out recruiting NU or out coaching NU? It definately should be thought about.

How bout you wake up! Another year or two??? How high are you?? Callahan was shitcanned after 4yrs, and his recruits were waaay better than Bo's. When are you gonna realize that we will NOT compete in the big 10 with 6-8 walkons starting every year. We are witnessing the demise of NU football under Bo Pelini. If this years recruiting class so far does not tell you that. "the star players" do not want to play for him, you are in a world of your own. WE have the best facilities on earth!!!!! The players here are treated like gods!!! Go ahead and blame it on the weather, or whatever you want, but the fact is, they are not going to come here and play for a loose cannon like Pelini. He gets pisssed at a guy and benches him, burns redshirts and they never see the field again...Would you want your kid to play at NU right now? Basically you have a high school assistant coaching staff also. We are being made fun of by the real college football programs.............thats a fact!

reality............First year of Bo's own recruits,....4 invited to the NFL combine....9 last year(Callahan recruits), that IS the final measurement!

Jason Peter is right! and yes he has earned every right in the world to criticize Pelini and his staff.

Have you forgotton that Texas kicked our ass in our house, and never even won enough games to qualify for a bowl game in 2010? That was a stellar coaching job there.

Bill Callahan had a #1 ranked recruiting class(it included N.Suh), That is what Pelini lived offed until this year. 9 wins means absolutley nothing when you are playing 13 games a year and getting your ass whooped by the teams that are actually playing for something. You might be ok with that, it seems that alot of Husker fans are, but i'm sure i'm not alone when i say that is unacceptable.

What progress? We have an offense that even the coaches don't know what the hell it is. Mark has won just as many Championships as Bill did. There has been no progress, everything Pelini has done, has been with Bill Callahan recruits(SUH). Since Suh has been gone, our defense has been average to below average at best. Pelini had all his own recruits this year for the first time(the numbers don't lie). He had 5 weeks to prepare for SC and Spurrier whooped his ass. Again the numbers don't lie. If you really think that Mark is taking NU football in a positive direction(i'm talking about the WHOLE program), then i would really like to be in your world. Hell, were not even in the top 40 recruiting right now, and don't give me that sh#t about how TO never was either..................the days of walkons are over...................Pelini IS the face of our program right now, and to most highly recruiting football players, its a very ugly face.

Oh yeah, i find it really funny, the amount of people on this thread that see Jason Peter as totally arrogant, but they totally dont see that in Mark Pelini...................THAT IS CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know about you, but if i had a bluechip FB being highly recruited, i would not advise him to attend the University of Nebraska.................Say what you want about Callahan, but the only reason we were the 2nd ranked defense in 2009 was because of BC recruits.................If Mark is such a defensive Guru, then why did he have 5 wks to prepare for one offense and he got his assed whooped, plain and simple.

enhance....most of the DB's that played this year , were playing alot last year, they just weren't the same guys. Instead of playing bump and run, they were lined up 12yds off the ball, got burned bad, no ingame tweaks. Your right, maybe it wasn't the DB coaches fault, but it was definately the DC job to do that....................and we all know who that is

Urban Meyer and Les Miles ARE 5 million dollar a year coaches!! You cannot tell me in good consciounce that paying someone like GW 3 mil a year would not get, at the very least the same results that Pelini is getting? And trust me, if you don't understand that having Pelini is really hurting our recruitng , then you are definately not seeing the BIG picture.

MLB51..............Mark Pelini is just hiring people who will only say yes to him. He is NEVER going to hire anyone who will question any decision that he makes!!!!! Doesn't any was else on this board find it amusing that the first person his brother hired at his new school was Marvin Sanders, who left or was fired(still don't know what happened officially). It looked to me like our DB coaching took a big hit because of it this season.
