From all the info I have seen we have money in NIL for the top QBs. The issue is when a QB like Ward has the top schools also going after him offering the same money he is going to go to a school with much better offensive weapons and just a general better set up for success.

No we are blaming turf at this moment in time. Our record next year will determine how much blame needs to be assigned following the season.

Tony White a Candidate for Syracuse HC Job
PasstheDamnBallGuy replied to FrantzHardySwag's topic in Husker Football
Man why would a DC want to go on that staff? There is clearly something going on with how Riley runs that team that is not conducive to having a good defense. They have had good coordinators and elite players and just have never put a good defense together. Grinch was getting legit HC buzz and has a lot of stink on him now he will have to work to build his name back up. -
Which year are you saying our offense was awful?
-
Yeah I mean if he wants to be closer to his family or something, but they even had a worse year than us and fired their OC. I would guess we have quite a bit more NIL money than them too.
-
So I guess the rumor is that ND is taking Leonard over Howard. Haven't seen any team other than us linked to him realistically.
-
Howard is a slam dunk imo. He ticks every box for a QB we need. The only issue I have with him would be injury concerns, but if we have Howard and could get a younger QB and keep Purdy I would feel very secure in the QB room next year. I don't think we are going to attract a QB that is better than Howard.

2023 Season Final Grade Your Expectation vs Reality

If Rhule wins 3 games in his 4th year then we should definitely fire him. I dont care how hard the schedule is. -
Look I don't think Satt is the long term answer at all, but I think right now he is calling an offense complimentary to what Rhule wants to do and trying to make something work with the personnel that we have. We went from 122nd last year in TOP to 44th this year. I think we committed to slowing down the game to help out a defense that played well but could definitely get abused in the right circumstance. I also know the turnovers are the biggest issue but I'm not sure what you can point out specifically in his offense that is the cause of them. I don't think Rhule is just ignoring the issues with our offense and pretending everything is fine. I trust Rhule to have a long term plan because we have the evidence that he knows how to do that.

South Carolina must have made a huge jump on offense and won more games this year once they dumped Satt. Oh wait they scored 6 less points per game and also missed a bowl this year. Welp those fans were certainly validated.

We should accept a bowl given the chance

I dont care who deserves what. If we won 0 games this year and were offered free extra practices I would take them and not even ask why. -

Anyone seriously saying we shouldn't go to a bowl doesn't actually care about this team getting better. -
Bright Spots From The Season

Still finished with one more win that Colorado so that's something. -
Looks like the highest probability we hit all game according to ESPN was 58% directly after the Hill pick. Probably would have been high 80s if the holding was not called.

Hill even made what should have been a bowl game securing pick. That would have been the play of the year. -
Looks to me that Rhule and Pelini were the only two that improved the teams record in year 1.

2023 Season Final Grade Your Expectation vs Reality
PasstheDamnBallGuy replied to TGHusker's topic in Husker Football
I think it still needs a lot of work obviously but the RBs closed out the season without having one for a long time right? -
That was quite a jump from what I asked. So you have no one? Yeah it is crazy northwestern made one and we beat them.
-
Who should they have picked up?

Yeah Fidone bailed out HH at least a few times on wild passes. He had a few drops but we also had a QB that could somehow overthrow his athletic 6'6" TE. He looks like a baby giraffe out there at times so I would be willing to bet he is only starting to get into his potential. -
What did we learn? Wiscy Edition
PasstheDamnBallGuy replied to Hammerhead's topic in Husker Football
What is interesting on the special teams is it seems we get closer and closer to getting game changing punt blocks every week. We even had the very possible game winning block set up this week and the player just didn't lay out for it. The return game is terrible though. As bad as it has ever been.
