  1. Cool - can we get a days since each team last won a division title? (Glad Brian is gone but please don't let Kirk leave yet...)
  2. Stopping by to say Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Drive safe to and from the game and may we have a clean game with no major injuries on either team! Time for the turkey coma now.
  3. ok - I was so confused when I heard it and just wanted to check in with people much more knowledgeable about Husker football. It was one of those WTF things. Thanks!
  4. I have heard that A&M is planning on officially contacting Rhule after the games this weekend. My source is very second hand information but it intrigued me so I figured I would come see if anyone here has heard anything since you all are pretty good at knowing information.
  5. Oh bless you for thinking we can score 19 points!
  6. It's the punt return game that is the biggest blow for us.
  7. Yeah - but it grew on him. Remember when Nebraska got scheduled to play Wisconsin on the last weekend and Iowa was playing Minnesota (didn't happen because of the schedule change when MD/Rutgers were added) and Wisconsin said no to Black Friday. Iowa volunteered to play Minnesota on Black Friday.
  8. Not sure where you got that idea. We all love it. The ones that don't are the hospital administration because they have to deal with football crowds on a normal work day which means messed up hospital parking and traffic flow for them.
  9. The question will be do they want to use firing Brian as a way to get rid of Kirk because if son goes, I am sure dad goes. I am really not sure if an interim AD will make this call and I am not sure if it is the correct call heading into the new Big 10. Damn if I would want to be the head coach listening to the student section chanting stuff about my kid though. That has got to be hard.
  10. He had me staying completely away but agree - I don't remember it being bad when he first joined.
  11. There is a big banner ad spot in the endzone and it keeps having an add for if you have gambling problems call this number. We are always joking that they need to post pictures of that in the locker room.
  12. Embrace the Iowa way! Punting is winning!!!
  13. OK - I normally come in here and think everyone is nuts for picking so high but I seem to be higher on the Huskers this year than a lot of you. Admittedly there aren't a ton of responses yet but I have NE in the 7-8 win range this year. I have you starting 4-0 and then winning 3 of the 5 between Michigan and Wisky before finishing 0-2.
  14. First of all s#!t down and shut up dude. You are being an a$$ on their board all over the place. Come and have civil conversation or gtfo. Second - I hate when people weaponize the wave. It takes all of the goodness out of it. If people/teams want to participate that is awesome but if it is mandatory to not get ripped on then it loses its meaning. The year that the band person made the stupid a$$ comments on twitter - it was just stupid. The teams were in a dog fight at the end of the first quarter and a coach and a few players took the extra time to talk rather than do the wave while most of the team did it. Nothing wrong with that as they are there for a game. I love it when everyone participates because it does mean a lot to the kids but it isn't like they are going to be worried about a few people doing their own thing so STFU about it.
  15. If you are coming to Iowa City for the game - a few things to note: The westbound I-80 ramp from 218/380 North is closed so you will have to take a detour a few miles out of the way if you are parked west of the stadium and heading down Melrose to 218/380. The walk from downtown isn't too bad other than the cold wind down the river so parking in one of the lots on the East Side so that you can get out of town via Dubuque Street might be recommended. The teams enter the stadium on the south end. The Iowa team will get there for the Hawk Walk past the Kinnick statue right around 1:00. The visiting team usually gets there a little before us and get dropped off on the SE corner of the stadium in case you want to be there to cheer on the Huskers as they get off the bus. If you like to see the band show before they head to the stadium (similar to what the CMB does outside Westbrook) - the drumline performs about 2 hours before kickoff outside the north end of the stadium and the full band with the cheerleaders and dance team does a show about 90 minutes before kickoff in the Rec building which is just NW of the stadium.
  16. ok - so I could have just went to google to ask. Hope he is able to come back next year. Hate to see that happen to anyone.
  17. Sorry - who is Marques Buford Jr.?

    B1G Week 12

Floyd of Rosedale. It was originally an actual pig. Back in the 30s Iowa had one of the only black players playing for a major college program and Minnesota roughed him up a little which was of course at that time overlooked by the officials. The following year there was a lot of talk going on before the game so in order to calm things down the Iowa and Minnesota governors bet each respective state's prize pig. Minnesota won and so the Iowa governor purchased the pig who was raised in Rosedale, IA and delivered him to the Minnesota governor (whose first name was Floyd and thus had the pig named after him). The pig was never slaughtered for food and ended up living on a farm in southern Minnesota. When it died it was buried a few miles north of the Iowa border in a spot about halfway between the two schools. A statue was created in his honor and that is what is now played for.
  19. You will be about 20 rows below the entry point in row 10. On the 35 you will also be almost right on top of the players. I think people underestimate just how close to the field the stands are at Iowa.
  20. The easiest is 20 teams with 5 team pods. Each year your pod round robins a different pod and you play every team once every 3 years.
  21. Sorry - I should have used a sarcasm font. It was more of the large scheme changes I was referring to. I fully agree that we will likely be blitzing a lot more than usual, especially at the start of the game and the QB change will probably cause us to use a little more 1v1 in the secondary although I am not as confident in that prediction with several of our top pass defenders being out for the game. Moss will certainly be on an island the entire game though. Parker's goal will almost definitely be to rattle Logan early and often to try and control the narrative from the start. I definitely think we go more 4-3-4 than 5-2-4 cash than we would have if Martinez were still the QB. I am curious how we will use Belton since he usually plays cash. Probably sub him in to replace one of our injured starters in the base formation. There is also a decent chance that Campbell will be playing QB spy a lot more than he has yet this season although that would have been true with Martinez as well.
  22. LOL. We never change our game plan. Doesn't matter who we are playing or what their strengths and weaknesses are.
  23. Does Smothers have legs or is he more of a pocket passer?
  24. With Martinez out - who's your backup and how is he? Just saw the Logan Smothers thread - sorry I was blind. Going to read it now
