  1. I know I am not surprised. We have so many of our pass defenders hurt it is ridiculous. Also our receivers can't catch balls that hit them right in the hands and kill drives. The only good thing is that our O-line seems to have finally started to get their heads out of their asses on at least half of our offensive plays.
  2. I find it interesting that OSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, and Wisky are all in a line out in front of most of the rest of the country (Georgia excepted). Given that, Wisky and Nebraska are definitely on the wrong side of the W/L column for where you would expect them to be. Wisky and Iowa are getting it done with defense, OSU with offense, and Michigan and Nebraska are both pretty balanced it looks like.
  3. We (Iowa) have had PSU for our crossover partner but starting next year we have Rutgers for the next one. We do have both MeatChicken and OSU next year and MSU and PSU in 2023 so it isn't like we are getting off easy (until 2024).
  4. Stone Cold - never left. I mostly just read so I can chat with my friends about what the pulse is on the Nebraska boards. A couple of them are on the Nebraska premium board and a few don't do the online board stuff. Even though I am not a Nebraska fan, I figure if I live in Lincoln I should be able to converse about the Huskers with my friends to be nice. Undone - thanks! Hilltop - That was a hell of a game. Loudest sustained crowd I have been at in my 29 years of going to all the games. It was insane.
  5. Man I hope they did because that was funny and it was ridiculous. The couple of times that they had players go down with actual injuries we were silent and clapped when they started to move off the field. It was only the constant flops that got booed. I have seen plenty of complaints on this board about certain teams players flopping as well so I know you are all smart enough to know it happens.
  6. Just curious - did the tv broadcast also show said players taunting the fans on the sidelines as they came off the field and then laughing about it on the sidelines and coming back in the following play?
  7. Iowa's permanent crossover has been Penn State so it isn't like we got a nobody - but yeah you got the short stick with OSU. Now for the next rotation we got a nobody with Rutgers
  8. The band does a show over by the Lied Center/Music Building about 75? minutes before the game. Nice pre-game pep rally kind of thing that is fun to go to.
  9. I think that was the worst half of football I have seen us play in years. Thankfully the defense came out out mad after halftime and shut them down hard.
  10. When we had 4 OOC games, Iowa always scheduled an additional P5 opposite ISU. In the last 4 years before the change we had a home and home with Pitt and Arizona. No they weren't top tier, but they were middle of the pack P5 teams. We have been wanting to drop ISU from being every 4 years to 2 out of every 4 so that we could at least get some variety to our P5 teams.
  11. Been a rule for a few years. Any fair catch on a kickoff inside the 25 starts at the 25.
  12. Why would you go for a 55 yard FG instead of punting there given how the game has gone so far? I don't get that call.
  13. Iowa City went against Reynolds and re-instituted a mask mandate and signs went up on all of the dorms letting students know (this was during move in week). The next morning, all of the signs were gone and the University released a statement that as a State institution they were bound by state law to ignore all attempted mask mandates so it ended up going nowhere. Someone at the governor's office obviously made a quick call to the University reminding them of where a lot of their money comes from
  14. The ranking for penalties is pretty pointless imo. What matters is WHEN are you making those penalties. If you only make one penalty per game, but it is a dumb penalty that always extends the scoring drive for the opponent, that is way worse than 5 penalties per game that never make a difference because your offense still gets the next first down or your defense still stops the opponent. Nebraska's problem the last few years is that the penalties are at times that mattered. Drive killing or drive extending penalties that made it harder to recover.
  15. I actually think that having Brian has started to make it better as he isn't scared to get in dad's face at family dinner. Kirk still pushes things a little too conservative sometimes though which is very frustrating.
  16. Don't underestimate our loss of Duncan! Makes me nervous when we have a new kicker given how much we tend to suck at actually scoring touchdowns.
  17. https://www.btaa.org/home This is why Nebraska will never go back to the Big 12. I know some professors at Nebraska that love the academic collaboration benefits of being in the Big 10. Yes football brings in a lot of money, but it is still peanuts compared to the overall budget at the University.
  18. I know this news is a few weeks old - but I am curious if this might have been a strong contributing factor. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/31613939/us-department-justice-accuses-nebraska-misapplying-title-ix-laws
  19. I don't see it being anything but 12. You need the 6 conference champion spots to get the lower tier P5 and non P5 to sign on to it - Pac, Big 12 and non P5 want better access than they currently have - but with only 8 the SEC can't get 3 teams in as there aren't enough at large spots so they won't like that. 12 is the compromise to get everyone on board. My only gripe is I wish the first two rounds would be played on campus instead of just the first round. The first time an SEC team has to come up and play in the Midwest in December is going to be hilarious.
  20. I would prefer you to get the Wisconsin monkey off your back than the Iowa one as well
  21. We most definitely consider you a rival. Hell - most the of the games have been close and come down to the very end so even with one side winning a lot, it's not like they have been blowout games. The fact that many in the Nebraska fanbase continue to look down on Iowa even with Iowa owning a 5 year win streak just adds fuel to the fire. For many it is friendly, but there is some hate there for sure with some people.
  22. Let's Go Hawks! Sorry - but had to do it. Haven't been around the boards much this year but wanted to stop by and say good luck and I hope it is a good and exciting game again! It feels weird sitting at home in Lincoln. This will be the first time I have ever had to watch this game on TV.
  23. Coming off a weekend where Nebraska played one of their best games of the season and Iowa played one of their worst games of the season, this Friday could be very interesting. I am not sure how much of Nebraska's game is due to Maryland - but you also looked much better against Wisky the week before. Iowa seems to have forgotten how to tackle rushers in the past few weeks, but our pass defense has remained pretty solid and we are doing REALLY well at closing things down once teams get in scoring range. We also have an issue scoring TDs and keep settling for FGs. With freezing rain in the forecast, ball security could be an issue and this should be a big advantage for us. I think that both teams will move the ball through the center of the field at will and the game will be decided by who gets TDs, who gets FGs, and who walks away with nothing once they are in the red zone. This is where Nebraska's newfound ability to actually make field goals will help a lot as I don't think Nebraska will have any better luck getting into the end zone than the other teams we have faced this year. We have held teams under 40% TDs in the red zone vs. 70% for Nebraska. I think that will be the difference in the game as Iowa is near the top in red zone defense and Nebraska is near the bottom in both red zone offense and red zone defense. I hope that we spoil your guaranteed bowl game, but that you still manage to grab an invite at 5-7 so that you all get to go bowling and get the extra practices. With what Frost is trying accomplish that would be huge to get a jump start on next year! I also hope the forecast changes as sitting through a game in freezing rain isn't fun, but I will be there with at least some of you regardless of the weather! Go Hawks
  24. Hey - if you come here, Bob is willing to pay you $100,000 for your autograph. Oh, Bama has a booster willing to pay $200,000 for your autograph? Let me go find some more boosters that want autographs then. Don't commit to anything yet! That will end well...
