  1. If it makes you feel any better we are missing half of our OLine and our top receiver is the running back...
  2. I honestly think that was as much to try and make Nebraska feel more at home in the Big Ten. We have some truly great rivalries in the conference, but they didn't want Nebraska to feel left out so they just started pushing sh#t instead of letting it develop.

At least you didn't call a timeout when you only had 10 guys on the field and then proceed to only send 10 guys on the field like Michigan did against Iowa for the game winning FG. THAT takes some special special teams talent!
  4. Actually we don't "claim" it. I don't think you will find anything official claiming an actual championship. It is simply listed in the list of rankings of all polls. I don't know any Iowa fan that actually claims we have a national championship in football.
  5. This was at the same time one of the funniest and yet one of the most frustrating things I have seen in a long time.
  6. I CAN'T HELP BUT NOTICE YOU PUT THE WORDS "DECENT FOOD" AND "MAID RITE" NEXT TO EACH OTHER. IS THAT A TYPO? when your choices are McDonalds or Maid Rite/Taco Johns in western Iowa you take what you can get The best food option would be head up into the Amana Colonies and eat at one of the main restaurants in Main Amana but people were talking about fast options while driving.
  7. Louisville losing certainly opens the door for the Big 10 to get 2 teams in. They will have a hard time putting in OSU but not also the B10 champion if Wisky or PSU wins out in addition to OSU winning out.
  8. From Lincoln with 2 modestly quick stops for drinks and getting gas at one of them it is about 4:45 from Lincoln. Best places to stop with a gas station with easy access and decent food: Exit 40 (Taco Johns and Maid Rite in the gas station), exit 72, exit 93 (BK, McD and Subway next to Casey's), DO NOT stop anywhere in Des Moines but the first exit past Adventureland which I think is 143 has a Casey's with well stocked pizza usually, Newton has a Culvers and then when you get close to Iowa City you have exit 220 and I think 230 that both have good stuff although 220 is usually busy since the Outlet Mall is there. Exit 239 onto 380 South then off at Melrose gets you the closest to the stadium with public parking but you will be right in the thick of traffic and pay for it. Exit 240 is the big mall in Corallville and that is where the train parking is located to get you to the game. Parking is free and train tickets are like $7 or $10 per person. Easy in and Easy out to the interstate and with a small group it is cost effective. Exit 242 is the primary exit for the stadium and will take you down to the Coralville strip with lots of parking at the sports bars for a price. Good deal if you want to secure parking early and then eat there afterwards. Easy walk to the stadium from that area. 244 takes you to the shuttle parking area by Hancher (free I think) or you can head on into downtown Iowa City and park at one of the campus parking ramps for pretty reasonable. Good parking/tailgating spot is the Main library on Burlington. Coming from Nebraska you probably don't want to deal with the far eastern entrances to the city unless you have a specific plan for where you are going from there in which case this information doesn't really help you anyway! Safe travels everyone!
  9. Wait - so the ushers and police will actually try to make people sit down at a football game???
  10. It would be nice for a big dent to be put in the SEC is king narrative right off the bat with some big wins against them in week 1.
  11. My condolences to Husker Nation. It is always tragic when something like this happens.
  12. Ouch - now I feel bad for making you write that man's name down.
  13. NU never led at one point in that game. For 26 of the 30 minutes of the 2nd half, Iowa led by 11 points. NU was not threatening to win that game. Did the cold weather make it look like you were watching a different game? All due to mistakes by one player and the tossing of Gerry. The playcalling was pretty damn good all game long. You go boy! Way to throw the players under the bus. God know the coaches weren't seeing the same thing and calling mostly passing plays... Definitely only one player that cost is the game. PASS PLAYS FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Pass plays beat Michigan St, brought us back against Miami, kept us in the game against Iowa. So we should ignor the strength of the team (our recievers) ranked as the best in the B10 and run the ball with our backs?????????? Really! I have no words for that. If your QB cannot reliably get them the ball, then are they still a strength? He can when he sets his feet, You should ask someone to tell you the story about the last drive against Michigan St. It will be a classic some day.Yep, a true classic to turn a 4-8 season into 5-7. Hip hip... We won that game, Really ! it was in all the papers.Yep, it was a true classic!!! Just like losing to BYU, Miami, Illinois, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Purdue, and Iowa were true classics. Hip hip... Those are just footnotes in history. That's what Bill Callahan said after a losing season in his first year. LINK? "Just one game, just one season....." All actual Husker fans know that line. No link needed. As only a casual Husker fan for most of the year since I spend most of my time following Iowa - where is this quote from?
  14. There is a thread on HN talking about this thread and how classy most of your fanbase has been and very angry about how Hawkeye2011 behaved over here. He certainly is not representing well.
  15. To those saying nice things - thank you! It was a great crowd in Memorial Stadium this afternoon (although I am still trying to figure out if I have feet...). You defense really did a great job trying to keep you in the game. 2 Tommy bombs, 1 amazing defensive play and 1 ball thrown right into the chest of the defender were just a little too much to overcome. I sincerely hope that it won't be long until this game is for the West title more often than not. If the cards fall right and you get a bowl invite I think you will surprise your opponent.
  16. How about I talk up Nebraska's championships and you talk up Iowa's BCS wins and then we toast each others teams and look forward to an awesome game on Friday? (which of course Iowa will win because damnit don't we deserve some love after SI tried to curse us?) I just think we are all snobs when it comes to our teams and there is nothing anyone can do or say to change that.
  17. I figured you were going to point out that we are on the SI regional cover which spells our certain doom.
  18. Our D being a little worn down is my biggest concern for us. They have about doubled what they allow the other team to do in the past couple of weeks. I think our gameplan will be to stop the run and make TA beat us with his arm and I think we might have just enough left in the tank to do it. If not then it will be a long day and will come down to whether our offense can outscore yours. Heck - if TA is having a good game then even if we take away the run it will come down to our O as well. I know that Nebraska has had some major pass defense problems this year. It seemed much better in the last game - but that was against Rutgers. I am really curious to see if Iowa comes out trying to establish the run like we usually do or if we come out and immediately test the secondary.
  19. Those things haven't rusted away to nothing yet after all this time?
  20. Passing: It seems to me the last couple of weeks that the Iowa D-line has been playing more of a contain pass rush. This causes them to get to the QB a lot slower but keeps a mobile QB from breaking a big one through a busted lane assignment. I know Nebraska has receivers that can create an opening for the QB to get them the ball but I am not sure if TA is accurate enough to consistently get the ball in there and drive the entire field with short passes. Rushing: We have been very streaky lately. We let a RB break a couple of 8-10 yard plays - but then we shut down the run completely for a few plays. I think the D is being very aggressive with their run defense right now and is willing to give up the occasional first down on first down in exchange for setting up 2nd and 3rd and long situations. We have been pretty solid about not giving up the really big plays until the end of the game when we are in the prevent yourself from winning defense. Does Nebraska have the patience to dink and dunk their way down the field and can TA make the crucial 3rd and 5-8 pickups that will be necessary to keep the drives alive?
  21. http://victimsofcrime.org/docs/default-source/dna-resource-center-documents/dna-sak-victim-brofinal.pdf?sfvrsn=2 Testing can happen in less than a week but that is usually only in high priority cases. Usually takes 3-6 months or longer - generally due to a lack of funding. Towards the end it specifies that outside funding can not be used to pay for the kit to be processed faster.
  22. I thought he summed up the respective attitudes of the fan bases pretty well - both how we currently are and how we got here. Also why both fan bases seem to not get along - we just seem to have a different mindset about the proper path to take to get the girl. I don't think that either path is exclusively right or wrong but of course both sides firmly believe that their way is the right way.
  23. NU-Iowa and how neighbors become bitter enemies; how Notre Dame gets left out; Pelini's outburst By Dirk Chatelain / World-Herald staff writer POSTED: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2015 12:13 PM . If you’re from New York or Los Angeles, if you’re flying across the country at 30,000 feet and you look down halfway through the journey, the whole landscape looks flat. Barren. Monotonous. Indistinguishable. Only when you take time to stop do you notice the wrinkles in the land. If you’re sitting in Alabama or Oregon or Texas, if you just started watching college football in the 21st century, the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Iowa Hawkeyes are the same way. Let’s compare the programs over the past 15 seasons, 2001-15. LINK
  24. Looks like weather could come into play now. It is still a ways away but neither team has really had a bad weather game this year and current projections are windy, cold and snowy. Iowa will get to play in cold/snow on Saturday against Purdue for the first time. That could certainly make things a little more interesting as both teams will try (or should try - never know with MR) to rely on their run game a little more and the cold usually slows things down a little. The cold can also have a negative impact on already sore muscles so it adds some concern to Beathard's nagging muscle pull.
