I dont know why you think that Campbell could bring the fan base together? He has lost value and nobody here except you would be excited for him to come.

I agree he wouldn't, but I think he makes Nebraska bowl eligible in year one. His ceiling isn't insane by any means, but I think he raises our floor significantly and would do in one year what Scott couldn't do in two.

I think the local guys know about as much as I do. Nada.

My tea leaves indicate that they know now, and are getting the stories ready for the weekend.

In all seriousness, I am willing to bet some now know and many will be filled in for their upcoming columns. A major leak will most likely drop tomorrow on who it is.

why would fickell leave a team that just made the CFP in his home state to come coach arguably the worst power 5 team of the last 5 years.

Because a place like Cinci can't just rinse and repeat. He could potentially find himself like Matt Campbell is now. Luke might lose value over time and would certainly lose millions if his team isn't good next year.

  4. For being so damn irrelevant, we got a ton of dudes paid. Nebraska controlled the coaching carousel this year, and for anyone wondering about the Wisconsin job or its position, you have your answer. It just doesn't command the same level of respect. I think tomorrow we hear the major leak that will be proven true.

I hear Rhule is nearly a done deal but negotiating the line of smocks. The university has signed off on most but Rhule really wants the “Smock U” and “Smock Off” editions.  They are more edgy. The Blackshirts will have a Blacksmocks edition, really cool design with the skeleton throwing the bones in a vest outfit. I really like it.

    Lmao this guy...

  6. If Jameson Williams gets drafted first round, Trey will get picked. If a WR has one 1,000+ yard year and is a junior with his type of profile (former 5 star and LSU signee), then it is very likely he goes to the NFL. Next week will be a huge week for his stock. If he scores a touchdown or two and has 100-150 yards receiving, he will get a ton of mention as one of the best WRs in the country, and will shoot up to the top ten. Take Palmer in while we have him. He's on pace for something we have never seen here before.

I think it’s a quick trigger for a bit of an odd sample size. You got blown out by OSU, happens to a lot of other teams. And then your prior coach comes in and beats you up, sort of unique situation too losing to a coach that knows the ins and outs of your program. The loss to Wazzou was thus the straw that broke the camel’s back?  Ok you are having a bad year but this coach was really successful for you and appears to be nothing but a good guy and loyal alum and you kick him to the curb.  I just didn’t see a program like Wisconsin doing this to one of their own.  Maybe our curse is lifted to Wisconsin because this appears to be quite a reach in my opinion.

I see what you're saying. All I can add to that is with the major change happening to CFB, it is imperative to be trending up, and they obviously felt they weren't so they made that move. Either way, this is good for us. Let them stand in uncertainty for a decade or so.

Frost was not successful at NU and his firing was well deserved. We gave him more than enough time to succeed.  Chryst on the other hand had success at Wisconsin and has a bad start to their season and poof he is gone mid-season! My how things have changed!  I thought maybe he would be gone at the end of the year if  Wisconsin continued to play poorly.  Like give him a chance to bow out gracefully and make the transition to either Leonhard or Liepold. Nebraska looks to be the much better job at this point. Wisconsin did us a favor looking like asses canning one of their best coaches mid-season, haha. And Liepold is not even on my top 5 so it’s like they are competing with themselves and no guarantee Leonhard is not lost along this whole process if he is slighted. Wisconsin bungled this and I’m enjoying it.

Idk man, they have been trending down for years. I saw this coming about a year ago, and knew then this couldn't last. They're just not that talented. You can only develop so much. They missed on guys, and the line play has regressed on both sides. In addition, the WR and DB play was not up to par for the BIG. They were being outpaced by Indiana and Purdue in the regard. Hell, we are much better than them in those regards. And lastly, they have been benefitting a ton from their schedule. Once they started playing the better teams in the conference, the flaws were magnified.

  9. I know this is about who replaces Scott but...

The next two to three years is going to be huge for the BIG. There is going to be a major coaching shift in the conference. We are witnessing Minnesota climb to the top of the West and by a good margin. Paul Chryst will not be around much longer, and who knows what happens to Wiscy from there (Leonard might get offered the job). I don't think Ferentz is guaranteed to be there in three years either because at some point, they're going to need to get out of purgatory with "imagining what it would look like with an offense". I think Bieliema is taking the Illini past Wisconsin and Iowa soon. Northwestern has completely flamed out, and I can see a world where Pat takes the money and opportunity somewhere else.

Jeff Brohm might leave after this year for Louisville, his alma mater, as it seems they may be looking to move on from their current HC. Also, this might be my most controversial take, but I do not think Ryan Day is safe or that great of a HC. In the grand scheme of it, Ohio St isn't that good, and has dropped a notch or two since Urban left. They will probably squeak by a horrible BIG this year, but if they make it to the playoff, they will get curb stomped, and I think it will be very telling from there what will happen with him as the HC going forward. With USC and UCLA coming in, I can see it changing so much. It is incredible to say that Jim Harbaugh is the safest bet going forward. If they beat OSU this year, Day will be gone.

This hire is crucial for Nebraska. If we get it right, we change the entire complexity of the conference. We have to get it right.

You guys love throwing these massive assumptions out there with zero comps. This has never happened. Nobody has ever had a transfer class comprised of 40 blue chip prospects. None of this has any basis in reality.

Lol I understand but what I am saying is that this will be a massive overhaul by the next HC. I am not saying Nebraska is bringing ten 5 stars with Urban in the first class, but I certainly could see 2-3 (HS & Transfer), and the rest being mostly 4 stars. His staff would consist of top notch dudes currently coaching right now, who would bring their guys over. Add the transfer portal, and he will bring in 10 highly rated guys easily. Before you know it, the number doesn't seem so far fetched.

We are talking about Urban freaking Meyer, the man who changed the trajectory of the entire BIG conference by the way he recruited. Maybe that number is a bit wishful thinking but Nebraska lands in the top 10 if they hire him. I would guarantee it.

And I would also guarantee 10-15 guys leaving the team next year who will have eligibility in 2023.

I agreed with that for sure just the whole 40 guys part. While I feel he would have no problem bringing in absolute talent 40 guys would definitely say alot of you guys suck get off the team im running the show now.

It might be a slight stretch, but I have to imagine he would tell 15-20 guys to leave the program. It's a lot of open schollies.

Yes, that's completely reasonable. Not at all a fantasy.

Combining the regular class and transfers... it's not that much of a fantasy. The dude would recruit 5 stars and get them.

The recruiting class this year will end up being huge.
