  1. Is it though? For twenty years it’s been Nick or Urban and I’m leaving Dabo out because I do not think he’s on their level. He’d have to coach somewhere else and win. Those two no matter what are guaranteed playoffs, and they would achieve that at a lot of places. Urban at Utah, and Saban at MSU would be in the playoffs by year two. We can’t say that about anybody else.
  2. It definitely is, but more coaches need to stop going after the money and keep their happy asses where they are and develop themselves. A young guy like Chinander would benefit by remaining a DC for another 5-8 years before he thinks about becoming a HC (I am using him as an example, not that I think he is actually looking to be a HC). Master your position before you make leaps and it will make you more money in the long run. Brent Venables did it the right way.
  3. Let me tell you... lol. The truth is, a lot of coaches suck. It starts from the top. So many want to only teach scheme because they have figured out ways to get by without being fundamentally sound. Then they can just focus on recruiting and never having to care too much about who they do or do not hire as assistants. This trickles down immensely, and when you tie this in with the buddy system of college football, you get a lot of poorly coached teams. There is only one elite coach in college football and has been for two decades and that's Saban. The rest of them are position coaches and at most coordinators who are not equipped to be head coaches.
  4. Just to add, I think the main issue for this is that practice did not reveal what the coaches needed to see or know going into the game. Once they saw what the other team was doing, they did a pretty damn good job adjusting, but they need to develop and practice in a way where the truth reveals itself well before Dublin. We can't waste a half figuring who the starting Wr's, Rb's, or OT's are.
  5. Man even when Nebraska is down, they still find a way to prove they can recruit. It has to frustrate the BIG West.
  6. I would love the hire of Mark Whipple though.
  7. Unless Graham is willing to change a ton of his offense, I just don't see how this is the direction Scott goes. This is kind of crazy.
  8. I am just trying to rationalize what seems like a strange, potential hire. Personally, give me Michigan's offense.
  9. Football is a pretty easy sport. If you develop your players correctly, your play calls are a lot easier. I think he struggled at USC mostly because they cannot develop there and haven't been able to for over a decade. They have been getting by on raw talent alone.
  10. I think it's set up to where whoever gets Graham Harrell, a Qb is coming with him.
  11. Honestly, if it is Graham I don't know what the plan is other than he will put really good assistants with him and really good athletes. Graham will get good QBs to sign here. Our strength right now is at the skill positions so Scott might feel like this would be an easier transition, and it would blend well with Mickey Joseph? Idk.
  12. I think he wants Graham Harrell for Texas recruiting, attracting elite QBs, and a style that overwhelms the BIG west. Nebraska obliterated Wisconsin's D, and I think Scott wants a better version of that with his Wr and TE talent. Harrell also has a well defined identity. If it is Graham, I don't love it, but I can sort of see why he'd be considered.
  13. He’s one of the best o-lineman in the country, and it was completely overshadowed by the hot garbage right next to him.
  14. I hate this program. I desperately want to see it return to glory. But I may have to take a few steps back from it for my own sanity. I feel physically ill.
  15. I think Logan will be fine. Did anyone else notice Nebraska taking up another 5-7 seconds in the play clock last weekend? They even found a nice rhythm doing so. I'm glad they're using the Big ten strategy for once. It benefitted them well against Wisconsin. All three facets should be playing inspired football. The defense should dominate, and that alone should give us a good chance. The key as we all know is special teams. We need to kick it in the end zone every time. Make them earn it. Also, Frost needs to take the points. 3 will feel like 7, as it usually does in this conference. I know we have been far from automatic, but we have to kick. Start Marvin Scott. He is steady and is a natural between the tackles. We need that desperately. Sprinkle in more option and get Betts involved. I'm calling my shot: Cam Taylor Britt or Marquel Dismuke is going to get a very important interception that will swing this game if Nebraska is ready to seize a victory. It will be had.
  16. If there is one thing that I like about Logan over Adrian is that he makes quick decisions. I imagine Frost will call this game like he did at UCF.
  17. Alright. I just went back and watched his HS tape and then compared it to some of his playing tape here. I will pull back a little on what I said earlier. And that's my mistake. He still is what he is NOW, but dang he looks very unsure of himself at Nebraska. He was much more smooth and had way more agility and balance. What a shame. Good riddance Held.
  18. Ah man, these stats don't say anything to me. I get it, but turn the tape and watch it. Also, those guys provided a lot more on special teams too. Sevion isn't that good as of right now. He's not horrible, but he was not trending towards that kind of career. I was trying to be nice, because I do not think Ryan Held can develop at all.
  19. I know a lot of people wanted Sevion Morrison to work, but it has been everything but smooth since he got there. From academics, weight gain, injuries, and the lack of development, he needed to be wired a little differently for it all to work out. I think he came in a little overrated but I don't think he lacked talent. What he is right now is a choppy, upright, and unnatural looking running back. For his own sake, it's best he gets a fresh start somewhere else.
  20. Ameer as a freshman was head and shoulders above the guys we have now. A lot of that has to do with development.
  21. I do think he would have benefitted from a new coach, as I believe all our running backs will. I will say though, we needed someone to leave from that room. There is a guy who deserves to play and that's Marvin Scott. I have been consistent in promoting him because he just does what's asked of him. He is steady and capable. Give me the non flashy 4 to 5 yards a run over the hope that one guy explodes onto the scene. And if you have that guy, he can't be sloppy and tripping all over himself.
  22. I hear you but I wholeheartedly disagree. Ameer and Rex were the real deal right away. So much so that they scared off 5 star talent.
  23. I figured he'd be the one to leave. I'll be honest, I was never impressed with him once he got here. I hate his running style, bad hips, choppy footwork, and body type. They tried to get him going through experience but he lacked a lot of things to be good. I also never understood why so many fans thought he was the best RB on deck. He was 4th to 5th at best. Sorry to rail on the kid but since he's gone, I wanted to share that. He wasn't going to last.
