@jaws I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA thinks they are in an uncomfortable spot.  However, they shouldn't be.  At the time he took the money, it was against the rules.  Thousands of other athletes abided by the rules and didn't take money.  If he gets caught...unfortunately for your team, it should be punished appropriately.

@BigRedBuster I agree. I don't know how many athletes have stayed 100% clean but the rules are the rules. I just hope the punishment fits the "crime".

Tricky spot for Chase Young...does he decide to come back?  Outside of the opportunity to play for a national title there is absolutely no reason for him to come back.  He's a top 5 pick guaranteed.  If I were him, I'd need to explore what the insurance market looks like in case he pulls a Jaylon Smith.  I remember when Ifo Ekpre-Olomu from Oregon got hurt before the Rose Bowl his senior year (he came back despite having a 1st round grade) and he cost himself tens of millions.

@The Dude Historically either one, but in today's game I would pick Saban.

Devaney is too low. Osborne, while great, may be too high. It took him more than two decades to replicate the success Devaney had in less than ten years.

I love me some Tom Osborne, but if he was a top-four all-time great, wouldn't he have had more success, and sooner?

I'd keep Osborne in the top 15. Maybe top 10. But I'd have to do more research to say definitively.

      Bill Snyder at #55 is a bit low.  Sure his 215-117-1 record includes more losses than some.  But he started from ground zero.  Snyder raised K-State from the absolute dregs of college football to be a decent team.  I'd put him no lower than #20.  Right behind where I'd put Devaney.  (-;

sorry @jaws. I'm sure it's tough. There are several asshats out there.

      It is what it is.

In reality, for the coverup of knowing an employee/friend was potentially beating his wife, Urban did get punished.  In the real world of 2018 college football, Urban barely got a slap on the wrist.  If I were an tOSU fan I would try justifying the punishment as acceptable, but there's more to it.

s#!tty situation.  Mostly because it's not about the victim and the guilty party anymore, it's about the celebrity.

It's a drag, man. As a fan you just have to pray nothing like this happens to your team. We invest our pride and some of our identity in these teams, but we have no control over these people.

  3. Buckeye football is back tonight! Looks like we will get to see Dobbins (FR) some at RB tonight with Webber’s hamstring not being 100% yet. The coaches have been talking Dobbins up all camp.

Penn State looked like the better team.  Congrats on a big come-from-behind win

I will have to rewatch it because I missed the third for a weeding but some 50/50 calls didn't go OSU's way. I didn't see that PSU was the better team. I did see OSU make some bad mistakes on special teams and the turnover on their first drive didn't help.

    4. ZRod

      ZRod

Yeah, OSU was getting jobed by the refs most of the game.

  5. Congrats Nebraska fans on the new hire and I hope this turns your program around.

  6. Iowa State just got screwed.

I thought it was a catch at first too.  It was a tough call to make either way.

There was a clear hold on OK St as well on their own TD.  A bad missed call.  Even the announcers called it out.  Just glad we don't play Iowa St.

    4. Mavric

      Mavric

Live I thought it should have been a TD.  On replay it was definitely an INT.

  7. Oklahoma was clearly the better team from the beginning tonight. The Buckeye have not faired well in nonconference night games at home over the past 10+ years. Bold move by Mayfield at the end.

  8. Sometimes you get your butt kicked. Yikes!

Is Bosa that vital to The Buckeyes defense?

    2. jaws

      jaws

He didn't throw 4 picks. Bosa is good but not that good.

  9. Was that same Auburn team that at one point had two losses and everyone wanted in the playoffs after they beat Bama? I think Nebraska found themselves a good coach.

  10. You can make up classes and not get in trouble but don't lie about players trading stuff for tattoos.

NCAA ruled Braxton Beverly ineligible for the upcoming season at North Carolina State. What did he do? He signed his LOI to play at OSU before Matta was fired and attended a summer class. Yes, he actually went to class. Matta was fired and OSU let him out from under his LOI because of the coaching change. I guess the NCAA doesn't like their students actually attending classes. The kid never played basketball for OSU.

I bet if that kid got all A's the NCAA would have him shot.

Maybe, like I said I didn't watch you guys much. But I doubt JT hit a ceiling. I think he's more so limited by his surroundings. That O line is young...

We shall see. It looks like JT already has a new QB coach and a new OC.

It doesn't seem like Urban is too sorry to see him go. Texas is now the landing spot for two consecutive reviled Husker OCs. One hell of a long game Nebraska is playing there.

  15. I'm a big fan of walk off sacks.

  16. My school had its second regular season loss today since I graduated in 2003 and I can't bring myself to root for Michigan even though it is best for osu if they win. Very odd night.

Paul Brown may be the only HoF coach that wasn't fired at OSU. They don't call it the graveyard of coaches for nothing.

There was a reason why Urban wanted Watson so bad. It will be interesting to see who stays for OSU but they have lots of young talent and more on the way.

I am not as confident in the QB as I once was. The sure did miss guys like Elliot this year.

OSU fans are shell shocked more about final score than the loss. Buckeyes don't lose like that often.

  19. The first NCAA basketball tournament in 1939 was Oregon vs tOSU with Oregon winning the championship. Hopefully history doesn't repeat itself.
