Makes sense. If he is going to turn down NFL jobs to stay, make sure the school can't turn around and fire you in a few months on two known issues (cheeseburgergate and signal gate) that he already has served time for. I think the NCAA gave a level 1 for cheeseburgergate and that might be a severe enough penalty to have the fire with cause option kick in under the current contract.

Tattoos and cheeseburgers. I don't think either one is the reason why a coach gets in trouble. You usually get in trouble when you aren't truthful.

Has the NCAA suspended Harbaugh for anything yet? Michigan's suspension might not be the same as a possible NCAA suspension.

The moral superiority of Michigan and their fans is something else.

It’s only McCord’s first year as a starter. And JJs 2nd. JJ was a bit nervous last year. I think what helped Michigan was the past few years was getting rid of Don Brown and John Harbaugh sending young future NFL DCs to his brother.
This quote from Marvin Harrison says a lot about how Minter prepares. I think the coverage schemes caught McCord off guard  too.

“I don’t know if I’ve gotten doubled more in a game than today,” Harrison said. “The safety help they had over top or inside — I’ve never seen anything like it until today. The bracket coverage in the red zone that we got, we got doubled a lot more today than I ever have before.”

now I get to look forward to losing in the post season per usual. :)

That is why Emeka Egbuka was so important in the game. He should have gone off with all the attention Harrison was getting but he hasn't been the same since he got hurt earlier in the season. Day needs to shake up the coaching staff a bit and delegate responsibility more.

It will be funny when the commissioner has to hand the trophy over to Harbaugh after the championship game.

They could not file for a TRO until the suspension was issued. It came out at 3:30pm ish on Friday while the team was on the plane, and Michigan had a judge ready for the TRO, but the Big10 wanted to object to the restraining order. The hearing could not be held in time on Friday afternoon. At least that is how I read it.

However, my point to Jaws was.... if Michigan is granted the TRO, it would put Harbaugh on the sideline for The Game. If they had been granted the TRO last Friday, it would expire before the game, unless they can get an extension. Of course, I have only ever  been in traffic court...:D

The Big10 could turn around and suspend him from the championship game, if Michigan can make it that far. It seems like the Big10 could also levy a bowl ban. Seems odd to forfeit the money for the conference from playing in a good bowl game. Revenue is shared. Wouldn't it be interesting if Michgan beats OSU and makes the CFP, gets banned, and OSU is sitting number 5 to take their place. If Michigan loses, no one will care except for maybe the extra practices.

I don't like how the B1G handled it on a Friday. However, the B1G isn't going to go after Michigan, a cash cow just like OSU, unless there is something that is very creditable. If Michigan was surprised the B1G would object to the restraining order, then Michigan isn't as smart as they like to tell us they are.

I do like the fact that Michigan found out that they can't just run the conference as they see fit. OSU should take note and understand the same thing. No school is more important than the other. Texas better take note because they are going to find out they won't be able to run the SEC like they tried to run the Big 12.

    They are?

In the next 10 years Georgia has Clemson, UCLA, Florida St, and Ohio St on their schedules.  Ohio St has Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and Oregon on theirs.

Alabama is going the other way and upping their OOC strength.  They went from 2011 to 2022 with never going on the road of an OOC game (they played a handful of neutral site games).  They are going to be playing 2 ACC/B1G/Big 12 teams each year going forward, with one being on the road each year.

    2025 Wisconsin and Florida St

2026 Florida St and West Virginia

2027 West Virginia and Ohio St

2028 Ohio St and Oklahoma St

2029 Oklahoma St and Norte Dame

2030 Norte Dame and Georgia Tech

2031 Georgia Tech and Boston College

    2032 Arizona and Minnesota

    2033 Arizona and Minnesota

2034 Virginia Tech and Boston College

There is a percentage of these games that will never be played. These contracts will be broken.

This will go over really well and become a semi-permanent part of the rotation, I'm guessing.

Lots of people love Vegas. The west coast fans will appreciate the shorter travel time. Everybody wins.

Just alternate it between Indy and the Rose Bowl and call it good. With a 12-team playoff, a conference championship game will mean a lot less. I could see it going away entirely.

  6. Didn’t turn out how I wanted it but OSU battled with most of their top playmakers out.  WR1, WR2, TE, RB1, RB2 all either out from the start or got hurt during the game. I really wish Stroud would have won it to shut up some of the dumb OSU fans. Even though they lost, he still had an all time game.

GA/TCU should be a fun game.

it is time to really define some of these penalties a little bit more. Also, the NCAA (or whatever governing body) should really be in charge of the refs and not the conferences. Coaches and players spend all year working non stop, but we leave the game up to some refs working part time.

Luke Fickell will come for the right amount. He has a personality that will fit the Trev mold and he has Cincinnati clicking on all cylinders. I also like O’Brien and Bret Bielema. Illinois will make some noise this season.

Luke Fickell is a good coach, but you lost me at O'Brien and Bert. Alabama fans want to get rid of O'Brien and Bert is Bert.

  8. People keep saying on here that Fickell is holding out for OSU but i haven’t heard anything that would indicate that is actually true. They didn’t even look at him the last time the job was open. Maybe he would like the job but there isn’t indication that he would automatically get the job when it opens up.
