  1. I hope it is commercial success. There have been many great services that have dropped off the face of the earth because they are either too early to the party or they just couldn't gain momentum. Part of the Starlink sucess is also strategic for the US with coverage over the artic circles. There are multiple articles you can find that talk about this. Saying all that, it is just one piece of the puzzle. Expanded rollouts of fiber/copper networks still need to happen and the promise of 5g internet still needs to be fulfilled. It isn't a one solution takes all approach. The other part of this is making it affordable along with removing artificial caps on usage.
  2. I love the investment into infrastructure but part of me doesn't trust a lot of the companies that would be involved when it comes to Internet access. They have wasted federal money in the past and lied about expanded rollouts. I don't know how this will be any different for the large ISPs. As for Starlink, at first I was skeptical but this looks like the real deal. As they add capacity (satellite and ground links), this will really start to open up the possibilities for those with poor quality ISPs or where ISPs are unwilling to go. The speeds and latency I have seen from some review have been amazing. I have been stuck in remote locations in the past and had to rely on satellite internet to fix some network equipment. Working with 800ms-2000ms latency isn't fun. I have also been impressed with T-Mobile's home internet delivery (4g/5g). It has provided very usable service at a decent price for so of my friends in ISP dead spots. Starlink tracking map (there is a better one but I can't find it at the moment): https://starlinkradar.com/livemap.html
  3. I don't always agree with you knapplc, but this might be one of the best things I have done. I also check some international news sources as well. When checking twitter for news, I often need to put a mental filter on in my head because things can be tricky to figure out what is noise/fake and what is real. This is especially true for some countries were I can only get information from twitter and other social media. It helps when I can personally verify things with people I know in those places.
  4. No wonder he wants to retire. He is running a D1 football team from the shadows (coaching, film room, and recruiting), the AD for a major university, and basically runs the B1G in everything football. I don't think you are giving this guy enough credit.
  5. It may blow your mind but your phone gives away data if you allow it to or not. I guess if it is turned off with the battery removed it doesn't, but that wouldn't be a very useful phone.
  6. You can't travel internationally without vaccination records? Maybe I need to rethink the places I travel to because there are many places that I have been that have not asked me for my vaccination records.
  7. Over his tenure (coach and AD) and not counting 2020 they averaged a 9-4 record. Is that the kind of consistency you are looking for? I don't think he was a bad coach or AD but I also don't think this is somehow a great thing for Nebraska. I don't think this changes anything for Nebraska.
  8. Lets not act like Wisconsin is some juggernaut. They have a system in place but it hasn't been that successful. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wisconsin_Badgers_football_seasons
  9. I should have put an asterisk by that year. We can say it never happened. Thinking about that, I bet Wisconsin doesn't win any of those B1G championships if Tatgate didn't happen at OSU. I guess they do have that 99 championship.
  10. Are we arguing if vaccine passports are morally good or bad? Wouldn't this be a way for people to disclose on their own accord if they had the vaccine or not? I suppose it would be better than taking a picture of the CDC immunization card and posting it on social media. This may create some inequities for those without the means to obtain the passport (digital or paper).
  11. So he is bad at hiring coaches (Anderson and Bert) and the expectations aren't much since they haven't won a B1G championship since 2012 (with an 8-6, 4-4 record).
  12. Make a better point then? Change at the AD position can be good or bad, sure, but I think you are giving Alverez too much credit as it relates to the current football team.
  13. If Nebraska fans are banking on success because Alvarez is retiring, I think they are going to be greatly disappointed.
  14. First, I will not call someone names for not getting a COVID vaccine. I understand the vaccines are fairly new but they rely on research that has been ongoing for years. Saying all that, I find it funny that a group of individuals talk out of both sides of their mouths when it comes to this pandemic. First we can't trust the COVID numbers because "people getting hit by buses (you can insert any way of dying not related to COVID) that tested positive from COVID are being counting as COVID deaths." and now we referencing a site that lists people dying because they happen to get a vaccine and die without any real correlation. Now watch me die from the shot I got yesterday.
  15. To be fair, there are anti-vaxxers and there are people that are skeptical of the safety of the current covid vaccines. There is an overlap between the two groups but I can understand people questioning the safety of something new. I don't think calling the second group names really convinces them to get vaccinated. Saying that, I can't wait to schedule my vaccination appointment. I also wonder if some people calling others out have all their other immunizations up to date and get the yearly flu shot. I know I do but I doubt many others do or know for sure.
  16. Sometimes the lines are really blurry between governments, cartels, and gangs.
  17. I think US policies over the last century in Central and South America are more to blame. Both Biden and Trump can be wrong on this matter, just in different ways.
  18. Be happy this what McMurphy is reporting and not some scandal. Are you guys really scared of the Michigan and Michigan St crossover games? Big names for sure, but they are currently a shell of what they used to be.
  19. All school teachers in Ohio were offered either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine as a push to get all districts back to in person teaching this month. My wife had a rough time with her second shot of the Moderna vaccine. She didn't feel well for almost two days but it is still better than getting COVID.
  20. I am sure there is an overlap of those that tested positive within the last year and those that received a vaccine.
  21. The things we take for granted in this country is unreal. Most of us take the electrical grid and easy access to water for granted. Maybe Texas will rethink their grid interconnects with the East and West US grids. Also, maybe this will spur some change across the board.
  22. No I don't have any statistics, but it isn't like most evangelicals care about people in prison, prisons or prison reform. Maybe it is more anecdotal on my end. That same thing can be said about your statement about Christians that believe in the death penalty.
  23. That is why I wrote "may or may not have". Meaning, that some are wrongfully imprisoned for crimes they didn't commit or the punishment didn't fit the crime.
  24. Interesting thought but why don't many of my fellow Christians care about things like the death penalty or those in prison? From a Christian's perspective, our own savior was killed even though he was innocent. I understand the doctrine behind his death but I find it interesting that we care so much for an unborn child but we don't for those that may of may not have committed an heinous act.
  25. I think cars are becoming more disposable over time as well. Soon it won't become economical to repair cars because the amount of technology that is in them. Also, people don't think about the ways that electricity or batteries are produced because it typically doesn't happen in their back yard. The US defiantly needs to invest more into renewables and energy storage technology. We also need to figure out how to make things less disposable.
