  1. the sell out streak ends this year big red is dead
  2. Cam should GTHO of Lincoln. Next year this team is going to look like a total dumpster fire.
  3. Nebraska 7, Ohio State 38. OSU does not need to adjust to our offense.
  4. I'm taking Minnesota. Minnesota 17, Huskers 14.
  5. NW wins by 14. People are giving Nebraska far too much credit for... losing games.
  6. 1) this team plays hard. There were multiple points in the game where they could have given up or slowed down but they never did 2) from the post game presser you can tell AM is level headed and really likable as a person. 3) Ockham’s razor. The team is just not that talented, and that’s okay there are more important things in life than winning football games. Who on the roster is going to get drafted? Then ask the same question about Ohio State.
  7. This game was a statistical anomaly. OSU beat the spread by an improbable amount. Our teams quarterback and our most important player by leaps and downs went down and we are not nearly the same team with our second string quarterback in. If we played again with tommy back in the game, it would probably be competetive. The doomsdayers are being overly dramatic.
  8. Actually, a number of medical schools have modifyied the life cycle stages so that pre-adult/adolescent stage (depending on the life cycle model used) go all the way up to 24-25 years old. Traditionally these stages ended at ~18. From medical science perspective, they are now being looked at as adults physically, kids emotionally/developmentally... Yeah good point. Legally adult does not equal developmentally mature. But yes, the juvenile reactions even days later are just kinda sad at this point. Show a little life toughness and resiliency for chrissakes. These tweets are lending credence to the new models being taught at medical schools. Still though, I believe, as a relatively recent college grad, that many college students are in fact mature and their less mature peers should be held to the same adult standards. It would also be nice to hold Bo to adult standards. If you think about it, what ever made this guy be considered such a role model of being a man. He often acts like an angry child on the sideline throwing a temper tandrum. He clearly does have and preach an us versus them mentality which is also quite juvenile. Not trying to hate too much on Bo as he has many good qualities, but he is not the shining example of maturity that Osborne was and is.
  9. College students are adults, not kids.. twitter nonsense notwithstanding.
  10. Taylor is a starting QB for a major college football program, and he has been playing poorly. He should expect to receive criticism. Nebraska is no different than Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, or Florida in this regard. If anything, I would think Nebraska fans are easier on the starting QB's than other schools. If Taylor can't stand the heat, he should get out of the kitchen. The starting QB role comes with a lot of perks, but also -- as the criticism he has been getting shows -- downsides, as well. If the downsides are too much, he should get out. No one has a gun to his head. Honestly, the criticism the article mentions isn't even that over-the-top. I mean, some college girl made a passing comment to him in Spanish class. Big deal. It's not as if she threw a rock through his window. Some people say stuff to his girlfriend. Big deal. The media might be tough on Taylor, but that's what the media is supposed to do -- criticize. The mainstream journalists in Nebraska criticize in a professional way. What's interesting to me is: The criticism from NU fans is especially heated because NU fans don't like Taylor personally. They think he has a bad attitude, even when the team is winning. He doesn't seem honored to play football at Nebraska. He doesn't compliment Nebraska, the football tradition here, or the fans. It doesn't even seem as if he enjoys playing football, much less playing football at Nebraska. In every interview with the media, he comes off as having a "I don't give a damn" attitude. What is communicated is, I don't care. You're annoying me. When is the interview over? You guys are just a distraction in my life. On the field or on the sideline, he doesn't seem to rally the NU team like a leader would. In the past, he has been very stand-offish on the sideline, which is unusual for a starting QB.
  11. I don't think we should bench TM right now. However if TM continues to make poor decisions and show little or no improvement, I really think it's time to bench TM and start Brion as QB. Here's why: 1) Turner, Bell, and Enunwa are three young, outstanding wide receivers. I think Brion is a much better, more natural passer than TM. In the long run, I think Brion will be able to do a much better job of distributing the ball to these WR's than TM. 2) TM has shown little improvement. From what I can see, TM hasn't been making much improvement with regard to his decision-making. If he hasn't improved much by now, then he'll probably never improve much in this area. People -- including commentators -- sometimes say that he's young, but that's really not totally true. Had he not taken a red shirt, he would be a junior now, and he's had almost a full year of starting. By starting Brion, obviously our running attack isn't as strong, but I think Brion is a reasonably good runner, and he is a much better scrambler than TM. What we gain in passing outweighs what we lose in running. While Brion probably won't do better than TM at first, I think that he has a much higher ceiling. Finally, TM doesn't have leadership qualities. I think he's improved in this area since last year, but he's still a relatively weak leader, on and off the field.

    QB?

Martinez has an extremely poor record against top-tier defenses. Look at how he played against Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game. Look at tonight's performance. Before NU can beat top-tier teams, Taylor Martinez will need to become a better decision maker and passer. I doubt it'll ever happen. In addition, I think Taylor Martinez is a relatively poor leader on this field. I say put in Carnes. While Carnes might not be as ready and able as Taylor, I think he has a lot more potential. We should prepare for the future. Right now, we have an incredibly talented, young receiving corps. Bell, Turner, and Enunwa are championship-caliber assets, and we should get a QB who can utilize them, while not throwing INT's. By doing this, we won't have as strong of a running attack, but I think we gain more than we lose.

    Big Ten

Nothing about joining the Big Ten will make Nebraska a stronger academic university. It won't mean more funding for research or faculty salaries, better applicants, or anything like that. The Big Ten is strictly an athletic association. The academic reputation of Nebraska might improve, since some people will reason (incorrectly) that: Nebraska is a Big Ten School. Big Ten Schools have a certain level of academic prowess. Therefore, Nebraska matches up with this level. On the flip side, some people might start seeing Nebraska as "The Big Ten School that sucks academically compared to all of the other Big Ten Schools." Having stronger universities around Nebraska may make it stick out in a not-so-desired way.
