He wasn't.  As of Saturday morning he hadn't even talked with Nebraska or any of the NIL groups and they will most likely talk to the potential coach (Although there was a rumor one of the NIL groups followed him on Twitter for hot minute.) When that does happen I'm sure someone employed there will leak it out and it will be solid information. But the MR 2 day interview is made up stuff by another board trying to get members. There had been 3 coaches that reached out that can been some what confirmed from the coaching world side of things and their comments in the press and twitter. One signed an extension. One has an extension on his disk unsigned but ready to sign and the third person we weren't interested in. I know fairly confidently we reached out to several folks including Fickle who didn't return a call (that did come from a slip un in the AD office before a football game tail gate), and most aren't very interested because they have better chances where they are to succeed or they feel they will have a better shot at a good school in the next couple of years. Nebraska is kind of turd in a punch bowl to most coaches. So options are limited.  I think the "vote" of confidence in the media that Trev is doing an excellent job was also made up. I don't think the BOR would agree at this point if you ask them privately.  They are nervous that we don't have someone locked up yet after 70 plus days and really we need to have that done this week. I was told Mickey would be our fall back and he is one of the last two in the running for ASU. Not sure why he's up their list so high.  Outside of Nebraska where you had ties, you wouldn't really look at a life long receivers coach who was interim coach that won 2 games even if he's a good recruiter and has played the part right and said mostly the right things during those 2 months you were in charge. So props to him for getting that chance. I think if he was offered both jobs he would probably leave. I think he's frustrated that he hasn't been interviewed for the job as of last week similar to the way Turner Gill was treated by Steve Peterson when Frank was fired. Just my 2 cents on MJ's thoughts don't know anyone who's directly heard from him. Just folks around UNL that "get that sense" .  Pretty important week and not a lot of good information out there. Anything that is out there is from sources not inside the AD office and pretty vague.

Wow... this post is littered with so many self-contradictory items it makes my head spin. The bolded portion is the only thing worth value here folks.

Pro tip- don't knock a hire if you don't know what you're talking about. 1. Strength and Conditioning on the oline sucks and is having a huge impact. 2. One guy inst going to fix in 9 months 8 or more years of terrible coaching, Development, and recruiting.

A healthy Prochazka (allows Corcoran to slide to his natural guard position) and the transfer portal will help.

  3. If Benhart uses this benching to his advantage and motivates him to figure it out, can you imagine an oline in the future of:

    LT - Prochazka

    LG- Nouili

    C- Jurgens

    RG - Corcoran

    RT - Benhart

Not sure if Corcoran would be happy sliding to guard but he did well at the All-American game at that spot.

I think the most likely scenario is the AAC makes a play for most (all?) of the remaining Big XII teams and hopes that's enough to be considered a Power conference.

Wouldn’t it make more sense for the Big XII to poach the top AAC teams?? Maybe that’s just me.

I think any alliance is mostly just a leveraging play by the other 3 leagues as a non active response to the SEC acquiring OU and UT.  Not much will come from it other than maybe moving the gears for expanding the playoff.

What kind of threat is this?  "We won't schedule you SEC teams for out of conference games!".  That hurts only themselves.

The leverage is the TV contract money. If SEC isn't able to schedule big name out of conference opponents (from the Big Ten, ACC, and Pac 12) that brings down the value of the SEC TV deal in negotiating.

I'm sure there will be exceptions for existing rivalries (Florida v FSU and Clemson v S. Car), but its a good strategic move to combat the increased value the SEC will now have with addition of Texas and OU in the SEC TV package.

Here is what I have learned,

I thought Solich should have been fired, I was wrong

I was excited about Callahan, I was wrong

I thought Bo should have been fired, I was wrong

I was excited about Riley, I was wrong

I thought Frost was the savior, I appear to be wrong  (that can still change)

I am probably an average, stupid, hopeful, still want to see greatness again, Husker Fan.

I just want the season to start so we can complain/celebrate something different.

Did I get drunk last night and make a post under a new account? In all seriousness, I feel the same way brother.

Beau's father said one of the big reasons for picking Nebraska is we told him he could pitch and hit. Mentioned that while other schools have said the same thing, Nebraska is notorious for allowing two-way players. #thanksSchwelly!

Roughly speaking, yes.  80,000 tickets at $60 each is $4.8M.

And some people wonder why some pencil pushing accountant in the AD office brought up the idea of cancelling OU to get another home game. (I don't agree with cancelling just saying the reason was strictly financial as Mav's math points out).

This is nuts.  It will be interesting to see how he develops in HS.  I'm assuming the offer and commitment is dependent on him continuing to develop to a certain point.

So much can change in 4 years.

Unfortunately, if he's that good in 8th grade and Arky and Vandy are both involved, its unlikely he ever makes it to campus and will jump from HS to pro ball.

Now go find a Deshaun Watson level player at QB and transform your program. Sounds easy enough.

Dylan Riola is probably our best bet.

I think Frost is building a solid foundation with area or under recruited kids in this class. He's had some splash/high 4 star kids in previous classes. This class is in an interesting spot with the number of freshman and rs freshman on the roster.

  11. Nebraska is going to have some arms next season! Perry, Shanaman, Frank, Olson, and Bunz return. Also, don't forget about Colby Gomes coming back from tommy john. Add to that Christo, Hood, and now Ornelas!

Should have a strong competition for weekend starters and the backend of the bullpen should be stout.

I think Povich leaves, 60% chance Wynne comes back, and 50/50 on Hallmark.

    Wynne is going to sign.

I'd bet Hallmark will likely be gone as well, but hope I'm wrong.
