  1. Are you kidding? You cannot be serious? This is ridiculous!!!! Ole Miss at 9? That is easily a top 5 team. This list is stupid!!! Okay! Switch Ole Miss with Hawaii. Happy now? Well I am still a little upset that Akron and Wyoming didn't crack your top 10, but I guess that would be alright.....

  3. Is this guy gone? Yes? Is this guy still the head coach? Yes? Easy then....Huskers win by two touchdowns
  4. I'm guessing a lot of this is based on the fact that the NU vs. MU game is in Columbia but can I ask a question? When did Columbia become a hostile environment? I mean, it's a drunk fest with loser fans but is it actually feared amongst fans and teams and considered a "hostile" atmosphere? I've been there a dozen times......it's lame. They get drunk, they get annoying and they get obnoxious but it’s not that loud and it’s not intimidating….in my opinion it’s soft.
  5. Yes, you're right and I absolutely thought about him. But I thought that was too obvious and that a guy who was amazing in the classroom deserved as much attention as guy who could hit like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VykWmBkhBzc Long live the Makovica's!!!!!!
  6. 44 Days!!! Several great #44's, including: #44 Jay Moore Jay Moore was one half of Nebraska’s impressive starting defensive end tandem for the past three seasons, joining fellow 2006 senior Adam Carriker. A starter for two full seasons and parts of another at open end, Moore concluded his career ranked on the Huskers’ career top-10 list for tackles for loss with 38. #44 Calvin Jones Preseason Heisman Trophy candidate and All-American I-back Calvin Jones had a rough start in 1993, injuring his knee in the first game and missing the next two contest. He went on to record his second consecutive 1,000 yard season and moved into second all-time at Nebraska and 12th in the Big 8 with 3,153 career rushing yards and 40 touchdowns, despite starting just 12 games in his stellar three-year career. He average 105.1 yards per game in his career with 16, 100-yard rushing days and was a consensus All-Big 8 back and a Third-Team All-American for the second consecutive year. Jones was inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 2004. #44 Jay Foreman • Three-year starter at Nebraska, posting 233 career tackles, which is 12th on the Cornhuskers’ all-time list. • Earned second-team All Big-12 honors as a junior, making 61 tackles and helping the team win a share of the National Championship. • Majored in business administration. In 2006 Foreman was signed by the 49ers (12-5) as insurance for linebacker Derek Smith who had been nursing a sore hamstring. He played on special teams against Seattle (12-14), but suffered a knee injury and did not return to the game. Foreman was then placed on injured reserve (12-18). #44 Mike Knox A four-year letterman in 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1985, linebacker Mike Knox earned All-Big Eight honors after serving as a team co-captain in 1985. After an All-Big Eight season as a junior in 1983, Knox missed all of 1984 with a knee injury. He bounced back to finish second on the team with 65 total tackles with a sack, two interceptions and a pair of fumble recoveries in 1985. He finished his career with 245 total tackles, including 12 tackles for loss, two sacks and six interceptions. The Castle Rock, Colo., native now makes his home in Omaha. & current Husker Mike McNeill ALSO, #44 stands for an NCAA Record for most total first downs in a game (44 vs. Utah State, Sept. 7th 1991)
  7. By the way, Duster, thanks for the countdown and the way you're handling it. Very nice. Appreciate that.... It’s just my very, very diminutive attempt at contributing to everyone’s already thunderous anticipation for the season. And FYI -- the last 10 days should be different so look out for that…GBR!

  9. I was off on that choice because he wanted to wait (or was asked to wait by BC) until after a visit so in the mean time Keelan Johnson from Mesa AZ is the latest to commitment to the Husker Nation. so now i dont have any idea who the next to commit will be Who do you think it will be? Wow....didn't see that one coming. Nice to continue that Arizona pipeline!!!! I'll still go with Josh Williams as the next commit -- some day

  11. What about making the student section GA? Get there early, get the best seats. Period. I know this was a suggeston a while back by a couple of student organizations but I'm not sure if anything was made of it. In the south stadium it basically is GA....in the East stadium it is set up in blocks like two rows for this frat two rows for this sororoity. Thats why the south stadium section gets filled so quickly. I think thatd be a great idea but you would have major complaints from those groups unfortunately. Here is the article from the DN dated 4/6/06. Obviously since it was published in April of last year that nothing was done of it, but if there are any current students out there who know if this is still in the works, let me know.....I like the idea Proposal would reorganize football stadium seating By: KEVIN ZELAYA Issue date: 4/6/06 Section: News Proposal would reorganize football stadium seating Students tired of overcrowding at Cornhusker football games and not satisfied with their seat now have another option. An Association of Students of the University of Nebraska proposal drafted Wednesday would seek to end student strife at football games by replacing the reserved-seating system with a general admission, ``first-come, first-serve'' system. The proposal suggests: - No block or group seating. Students would be giving general admission seats in sections of East and South stadiums. - Seating for East Stadium will be given to those who sign up first, as determined by their class standing. So seniors would have first dibs and freshmen would be the last to sign up. - East Stadium ticket holders would then have to pick up a wristband on Friday or Saturday before the game to get into Memorial Stadium and be allowed into East Stadium. - Students would be allowed to go from East to South stadiums (if crowding is not a problem) but not South to East. Everyone else would receive general admission for South Stadium. - A small section of reserved seating would remain in Section 15 in the South Stadium for student athletes and non-traditional students. These sections would be roped off. Matt Connolly, ASUN external vice president, said he and ASUN president Matt Schaefer came up with the proposal to solve the problem of overcrowding in the student section, especially in the East Stadium. Connolly said the plan reflects the way students are seated. ``For a large number of students, it's kind of already general admission,'' he said. The 2,500 student tickets for East Stadium would be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, noting that freshman currently are last in line to order tickets and that his plan is no different than the status quo. Schaefer, a junior political science major, said the problem stems from high student demand for tickets in East Stadium. ``Everyone wants to go there,'' Schaefer said. ``It gets overcrowded because it has a better view. You have two to three people per seat.'' The proposal hasn't been voted on by ASUN senators yet, and will be up for review by students in the upcoming weeks. The Athletic Department has delayed the registration of ticket sales to allow time for the proposal to be considered. If the plan is adopted by ASUN and the Athletic Department, it could go into effect for this fall's football season. At Wednesday's ASUN meeting, Sen. Joe Manglitz, a sophomore music education major, opposed the proposal. He said if block seating were abolished it would separate upper and lower classmen who are members of the same greek house. ``It's a big deal for greeks to sit together,'' Manglitz said. Sen. Brigid O'Holleran, junior natural resources major, said she has had some bad experiences with block seating. She noted that it makes no difference whether you get to your seat early or late because it always becomes a fight to keep a seat. ``Block seating becomes survival of the fittest when people push you off your seat,'' O'Holleran said. Chris Anderson, associate athletic director of communications, described the proposal as being in ``a listening time period'' during which students are able to consider the proposal. Anderson said the plan shows students can be proactive and seek to solve their own problems, noting there is no deadline or schedule for the plan.``We want students to have a say,'' Anderson said. ``And if they have a better solution then they should let us know.'' Connolly stressed that the plan is still in its infancy, noting that graduate students still hadn't been factored into the plan. ``The meat isn't in it,'' Connolly said. ``It's just a skeleton of a plan.''

  14. Well I know it has now reached the athletic department, and they are none to happy about either....So for the one's that like the peition, it is being looked at. There not happy about it, but at least there looking at it.....
  15. Well when I'm talking about student sections, it only makes sense to point the finger at NU's ----- student section. I don't question YOUR loyalty or YOUR enthusiasm or YOUR passion. I'm questioning the majority of the student section. Can I honestly consider our student sectoin to be in the top 20 in the country.....no. Can I honestly say that you guys can be loud......yes. Can I honesty say that people feed off you.....sometimes. But yes when the student section is rocking, the rest of the crowd is rocking. When the student section is tame, the rest of the crowd is tame. Now you tell me......which happens more?? I think you guys are getting closer. To me....just in my opinon, I think the B****** rocks. Pick a game here or there and I'm absoutely fine with it. I also loved the B****** because part of the team (I'm looking at you McKeon) wanted it and you guys made it happend. That's f'n awesome! I don't know if this tradition stopped or what but I thought the lifting of the shoes at the "kickoff" was quirky and fun and the sort of crazy wierd stuff this stadium needs. Plus the push-ups after touchdowns are cool -- all though copied from various other teams -- I still like it. I just hope that as much as the Unversity has pushed you guys aside, as much as they've basically avoided you and as much as they desire fans with deeper wallets, that you guys in the end will just say "fu*k it!!!" and rock that part of the stadium. Just in my personal opinion and I know alot will disagree with me, but I want our student section feared. I want people to say "Memorial Stadium is a great atmosphere, the people are nice, the stadium looks cool and you can tell the people really care about their team. But god damn that student section is insane!" I guess I don't see what's wrong with that......
  16. 47 Days!!! #47 Charles Brock Going a little old school on this one... · 2002 Nebraska High School Hall of Fame Inductee · NFL 1940s All-Decade Team · 1973 Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inductee · 1972 Nebraska Football Hall of Fame Inductee · 1945 NFL All-Pro · Drafted in the 3rd Round by the Green Bay Packers (24th Overall) · 1937 First-Team All-American · Three Time All-Big Six Selection (1936-37-38) Brock has been inducted into three halls of fame since his playing career has ended: the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 1972, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1973, and most recently the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame in 2002. Brock was also selected to the NFL 1940s All-Decade Team. Charles Brock was born on March, 15 1916 in Columbus, Nebraska and passed away in May of 1987.
  17. Well I guess that means Kevin Dixon, Joseph Townsend and Javario Burkes are making it. Not bad if you ask me..... And LaTravis will make it but look for him to be a grayshirt
  18. I don't disagree with you that your loud and the anchor of the crowd. But are you creative? No. Are you spontaneous? No. Do you have people around the country talking about you? No. That's my problem. You guys are average, nothing special. Just plain and simple average. When people around the country talk about great student sections Nebraska is never ever even close to being mentioned. If we wouldn't let our footbal program become average, why should we let our student section remain average. So I say, "Step it the F up". Be loud, be fearful, be creative, be crazy but most importantly....be fresh and above average....

  20. 49 Days!!! The date, October 21st, 1995. The place -- Memorial Stadium. The event -- another beatdown of the drool cup carrying, purple clad losers from Craphatten. On it's way to their fourth National Championship, Nebraska faced it's first true speed bump of the season (well more of a speed pebble) with a matchup against #8 Kansas State. #2 Nebraska (yeah, hard to believe Nebraska was #2 at all that season. Should have been #1, #2 and #3) rolled to an easy victory at home, 49-25. That game proved two things; 1.) Nebraska was for real and 2.) Kansas State stills sucks.... 21. I think that would help immensely.... Another problem is the University itself. What do they do for the students? Nothing. How many shirts have they handed out? How many towels have they handed out? How many pep rally’s or any other pre-game festives geared towards the students have they created? None. UNL has brushed them off to the side, while welcoming with open arms fans with bigger wallets. you mean besides cheap tickets to EVERY home game? Yeah you wouldn't want to do anything for STUDENTS at the UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA. God forbid we get them involved....that would be crazy! I mean it's not like students have the ability to make large amounts of noise or cause a daunting atmoshphere for opposing teams. That certainly doesn't happen anywhere else
  22. I think that would help immensely.... Just my overall impression of the student section is that they lack creativity (honestly, what do they do that's cool and creative? Anything???) and they lack the fright, fear and insanity that other student sections give. No I don't want them to spit, throw punches, spill beer....but you can create a threatening, fearful atomosphere without spewing blunt hate.
  23. Fall practice starts August 6th and it was reported last week that Bowman could....could be ready for the opener...
  24. They are not as clever, passionate and crazy as some of the other student sections around the country. Don’t get me wrong, I like them. They show up, there somewhat loud and they know the game that there watching. But there creativity, enthusiasm and there overall craziness is very much lacking. This isn’t a bash session on the students at Nebraska but it’s time to step it up. Here’s what I’m talking about…
