We fire Bo for this reason, it sets us back. But even before this he was on a short leash with performance on the field. I'm good with Bo as the coach, but depending on how the AD and Perlman handle this, they might burn that bridge and no matter how Pelini performs the rest of the way he still might be gone.

  2. We have a long snapper on scholarship, right? Maybe we need to offer a designated punt returner...

2010 we were 14th, but that was helped by Eric Hagg's 95 yard return for a TD against Texas.

      JJ Husker

Special teams have been subpar for two years. KR has been unimpressive, PR has been downright bad, and punting has been erratic. Only good thing is most kickoffs are unreturnable.

Wester's muff was not the only problem. The 69 yarder into the wind that was not even attempted to be fielded. Newby was way too shallow even considering the wind. ST does need some attention.

  3. And THAT is why Chip Kelly is a great offensive coach. Great call on the shovel pass.

Of course he's playing to win. He's not playing to lose but it was a lousy decision. It was the 3rd quarter and he was down by 8. If it were the 4th quarter with 2 minutes to go that's a different story. The zone read on 4th down near the goal line, the attempted 'reverse' on the kickoff early in the game which almost turned out to be a disaster. For a game of that magnitude one big gamble is probably too much when your team's only down by a few points.

    3. Hercules

      Hercules

I don't like the zone read or the reverse, either. But the fake punt worked great, as did the early 2 point conversion (which is the only reason they were able to tie the game up). You can blame the loss on Chip Kelly's gambles, but without them, it wouldn't have even been that close. You can't point at any number of reasons Oregon lost this game - interceptions, the safety, crappy pass defense, dumb luck for Auburn... but not much of it do I think you can really pin on Chip K...

      suh_fan93

Sometimes gambles work Herc and I see your point but I'm in the school of you can only gamble so much and expect to win. More than one big gamble in a game like this?

      Good luck.

And your right, Oregon's pass defense was pretty lousy tonight to say the least.

  4. One quarter down, advantage Ducks... Watson needs to sign up for classes with Chip Kelly.

Well - Chip Kelley is kind of a mad genius and it's impossible to simply duplicate that. But, personnel is the main factor holding us back from doing more.

Justin Bieber (and his fans) apparently thought he would win simply because he sold a lot of records. The award goes to the best new artist, not the new artist who sells the most records.

Comparing Lebron to Jason Terry is a more apt comparison in this series.

Then again, Terry has actually shown up in the fourth quarter. Can't say the same about Lebron.

Since the Callahan era, the team has been saying "until we can't be beat, won't be beat." I guess the correct version is "the team that can't be beat, won't be beat." Benning and Foreman were pissed.

I always thought huskerboard was doing it wrong based on our high school coach, who played for NU, said "the team" and I figured he of anyone would know the prayer. "Until" just sounds awful
