  1. Well, let's see if the offense can answer again. If not, I'm afraid this is going to start unraveling...
  2. Well, other than Minnesota, this is the first game of the year that hasn't completely surprised me.
  3. If Pelini stays for a long time, we are going to lose Beck to a HC position sooner or later. Just need to make sure we pay him enough that he'll stay here until he gets a better job offer than UTEP.
  4. Over/under on the number of posts robby1220 gets to before getting banned: 30
  5. It's slightly less absurd than the idea that Martinez will play a pivotal role in the game. The game will be decided in the trenches, and Martinez isn't going to be able to overcome our shortcomings there.
  6. JUCO LB's have been great to Nebraska for a long time, though. Terrell Farley, Demorrio Williams, Lavonte David...
  7. Is he our first All-American offensive lineman since Fonoti?
  8. This is something people forget sometimes. It has become so routine to win 9-10 games that we forget that 9 win seasons were considered the bare minimum. Even Osborne thought that winning fewer than 9 games would get him fired.
  9. Whether or not we have leaders like them, we need guys who can play like Peter and Wistrom. Add those two guys to our team and I think there's a decent chance we're playing against Notre Dame for a national championship. Dominant defensive line play makes a HUGE difference.
  10. Wisconsin is not a multiple offense. They didn't throw a pass in the second half and still scored 28 points.
  11. Completely overshadowed by Kenny Bell's block was the fact that Jamal Turner split 3 defenders to get into the endzone. I love our skill position players.

I told my buddy sitting next to me in the stadium it just ruined Jamals breakout play

Paul Crewe opened my eyes to a few things tonight as he told me that the Wide Receivers play this year masked our problems pass blocking along the OL.

      That's a great point EZ.

  12. Bob Stoops has won a national championship and 7 conference championships. There is no comparison between him and Pelini at this point in time.
  13. I feel like the offense struggles more because the defense is struggling, though. They have to go away from their gameplan because the defense is giving up TD's left and right. There's no chance to test the defense and see where they're vulnerable to, like they typically do. There are really only three things that I want to see from the offense: 1. Taylor cutting down on his fumbles, 2. OL improvement, 3. I would like to see us actually surprise someone with our gameplan. We haven't done that all year, and we always start slow because the opposing coaches surprise us, never the other way around.
  14. I don't think anybody here is that upset with a 10 win season this year. But they're upset about the fashion in which we lost those 3 games. Three games in which we set school records for bad defense. ANY team that puts on three of the worst performances in school history should be questioning what's going on, not just programs with championship aspirations. You've got a defensive minded head coach who 5 years in is fielding one of the worst defenses in the history of Nebraska football - that doesn't make sense, regardless of what the "logistics of college football" are going to allow.
  15. I hope we see it next year. They need to put a "Three-Peat Fumbles Champion" sign on his locker or something.
  16. I'll give them credit for the ten wins. But I can do so knowing that we're as close to being 7-5 as Wisconsin was to being 10-2. Something which they demonstrated quite clearly the other night. As Damon Benning said after the CCG - if there's any upside to a game like this, it's that there is no illusion, no feel-good trophy covering up serious flaws that need to be addressed in the offseason.
  17. It's not conference championship game purgatory. It's "turnovers, penalties, poor game-planning, poor fundamentals, poor technique" purgatory. Sure, our team was resilient this year, but they were also lucky. We were roughly 4 or 5 plays from being 6-6. Wisconsin missed a field goal and an extra point in their first game against us. Northwestern dropped 2 interceptions on our winning drive. At Michigan State, we got a lucky pass interference call. Against Penn State, we got lucky on the goal line fumble. Think about that for a second. The ball bounces the other way on those plays, coupled with the embarrassing loss to Ohio State and horrific defensive performance against UCLA - Bo would have been fired last week. I'm not sure everyone completely understands just how fragile the program is right now. edit: as far as Dirk goes, the dude is a prick, and his questions in the press conference are usually meant to corner Bo or get a rise out of him. I don't think he's written anything out of line since the CCG, but he has on other occasions.
  18. We've got threads about how to make our team better. You're not posting in them. You're posting in here, where everyone is bitching, except while they're taking their anger out on the team/coaches, you're just taking your anger out on other fans (or in this case, Shatel, for some strange reason). That doesn't change the fact that you're acting just as childish as anyone else on the board.
  19. Where's Chip Kelly going? Lots of talk of him being grabbed by an NFL team this off-season. I'd be surprised. My guess is that David Shaw goes to the NFL before Kelly.
  20. I don't think I've ever agreed more with one of your posts. We need to evaluate whether we're getting what we need out of the coaches on both lines, and we need to get the kind of talent that will win us championships. The last time we won a conference championship, Steve Warren was our all conference nose tackle, Kyle Vanden Bosch was on his way to a long NFL career, Dominic Raiola was an All-American, and Toniu Fonoti joined him and Russ Hochstein on the offensive line. We have nothing near that personnel right now.
