I think the Solich firing was justified and really should have been done after 2002. The lack of success of his successors is frankly completely unrelated to whether Solich’s firing was justified.

The guy ended up at Ohio U after he was fired at Nebraska, and I’m not aware of him even getting consideration for a higher profile job. For all fans of other teams critics Nebraska for the Solich firing, it is odd how none of them were willing to hire Solich or seemingly even consider him. And Solich’s tenure at Ohio has been solid but nothing really that spectacular. He never has won the MAC, has only 2 MAC East titles, never has finished with less than 4 losses (not counting this year’s 2-1 season) and has never beaten a Power 5 team other than a 1-11 Kansas team.

Everything indicates the dude is a MAC-level coach.

Few things to note... he also beat a Kansas team that was 2-10, they also beat Penn State and Pittsburgh. He’s seven wins away from being Ohio’s all time winningest coach, led them to their first bowl game win, they’ve gone to bowl games 10 out of the last 11 years, including five in a row while winning the last three (bowl game stats do not include 2020). Oddly enough the last time Solich won a CCG, so did Nebraska.

He’s been a nice little coaching hire for Ohio. Not great but extremely solid as stated. Just didn’t appreciate the negative context everything else was put in. Nobody will ever truly know if it would’ve worked out for Solich here at Nebraska. The odds were certainly stacked against him.

He was 42-9 before that 7-7 season in 2002. They had a nice bounce back year going 10-3 in 2003. Why was firing him justifiable in 2002? Because of one poor season compared to the success of his predecessors?

This would be dumb.  Absolutely the dumbest thing I’ve heard today, and that’s with some time spent on FB too.

Visceral reaction is I’d rather get a home game with every B1G school than the s#!t I have to go watch in November and December.

Assuming we play 31 games that gives us five non-conference games.

    Huskers > 75 points = free Runzas

Am I dreaming this up or did it used to be 65 points?

yes it did back in the Doc era and then a season or two into the Miles era. They used to never get it when Doc was coaching and the when Miles came in, they always got it. Then Runza quit doing it by points.

So do you not need a ticket this year for the 75+ points? There’s nothing on the back of mine.

A little insight on Doane Basketball.

They lost their top 2 scorers, one to graduation and one to transfer from 2018. The starting center for them who is 6'10 is out for this game.

Doane is undersized just like we are, so we should dominate them on the boards. They also struggle to shoot the ball from deep. Right now, they are sitting at 0-3 with a few close losses.

We should beat them handily. Our back ups will be scoring late in the game and will play the entire second half.

    Nebraska 107 Doane 63

Plus one for picking Doanes score correctly

Every major sports manages by having a single centralized power and players with collective bargaining. To accomplish that you would need every P5 and G5 school to give up whatever their specific benefits are so the NCAA can redistribute it in a 'fair' manner a la NFL, MLB, NHL. It would very likely take care of your concerns. However, you already feel that the NCAA is "unbelievably corrupt and greedy". I am not disagreeing at all. So the answer is giving them more power?

Couldn’t the P5 just dump the NCAA and form their own governing body?

Unbelievable, with our ranking 2 more wins would of got us in.

I know those Minnesota/Maryland losses... gut feeling on where we end up in the NIT? Really hoping for a two seed and at least one possibly two home games. But thinking we end up a 4/5 seed.
