  1. lionsfan93, it is in the main recruiting forum below the lists of the certain classes by year. The guys have been good at updating as players say they are walking on. The list is pushing double digits already. A lot of instate linemen.
  2. This "nose dive" can be broken down into two things, the decommits and latea misses of kids a lot of people hadn't heard of until this last couple of weeks. So out of "all" these decommits their have been two real ones, two told to go another route because of size issues, and a kid that had a 24 hour relapse. Let's look at that. Tevin Mitchell was a long time commit and stings the most. He decided to go to a school that was closer to home and family and was his other finalist in his decision. Mom is given a job and personal comfort won out. Can you blame the kid no. Yes it sucks, but as we have said all along these are 18 year old brains we are dealing with. Nik Sade same thing. One, it was shocking to me that the kid was coming all the way out to Nebraska in the first place. Two, when the home state favorite school comes a calling of course more often than not you will answer that call. Again personal comfort wins out. Bouzos and Aldmire are in the same boat. They weren't cutting it in terms of expectations of NU's staff. If anyone has ever seen a written offer from a D1 school there are requirements each school has that the athlete needs to meet in order to keep the offer. Most schools include a stipulation that the athlete must meet/maintain certain physical attributes. Both we're not as big as they said they were and are not massive losses. *If you have never seen a letter, go to Tate Forcier's website. I think it is qbforce.com or something like that. He has copies of a bunch of offers he has received, including Nebraska. The guy is a tool but the site is kinda interesting in reference to the recruiting side of things. Darian Bryant is the one that I am most disappointed about. TE is getting to be a pretty big need with Ryan Hill giving up football, and leaving only two game experienced good TEs. Look for two signed next year. Anyways I thought this kid was ready to commit and he seemed to just rush it. But now it looks like he is heading to a school(WVU) that wasn't even one of his "finalist". Again it is the rollercoaster ride that is recruiting. You get hopes up and get a little stoked, and it all depends on what goes on in a 17/18 year olds head. Someone for the most part can't figure out what they will do tomorrow let a lone the next four/five years of their life. Skerschicago has hit it on the head post after post usually, and this one is no different. The core of this class was what NU got early especially on the offensive side. Everything else has/will be icing on the cake. I find it kinda funny how so many people get their feathers ruffled over kids that we really start making a push for late, that commit elsewhere. This is more of an issue about the lack/effort made during the inseason recruiting phase IMO especially in terms of official visits. The ball was dropped, even though I understand they are busy with game planning and prep. Some staff members are everywhere recruiting(JP, Ron Brown) while some appear to need a kick in the ass, something thathas been hashed about in other threads. So while there have been some disappointments along the way, none have been an overly suprising shock. Just like in 2007. Remember this, these athletes have to do what they feel is best for them. If that means turning down an opportunity to play for some of the graetest minds(well defensively) in the game to stay closer to home for personal comfort so be it. It happens every year. And it will continue to happen. Tis the game of recruiting, and in the immortal words of Kevin Bacon I end with this
  3. maybe his dad chirping in his ear will lead to a bump to a 5 % chance or so..... but whatever... screw U$C Pretty sure the boat hasset sail with our staff so long ago it should be porting in Thailand soon. And even with daddy chirppin in the ear I;m think he becomes a Cane or a Bruin, but you never know our recruiting "is in utter disarray" to so many on the board.
  4. Has reopened his recruitment. Now before everyone starts pumping sunshine thinking there is hope. It is like a <1%chance. Visited the U last week, has connections with staff members that used to be at USC. Heading across town to Westwood this weekend. Maybe he and Owa will be lifting partners. Right now UCLA 47% Miami 48% USC 4% NU <1%
  5. Sign the kid up and get him here for his name alone.
  6. Winning helps cure all. Please see my rant in the thread below. Remember Nebraska is a hard sell to a high school kid.
  7. bballbacker, Doc better just put his focus into getting Mike Gessel from South Sioux. The guys is just a smooth stud. Oh, and the best part is he can make a 15 foot jumper in traffic or all alone. Best player in the state regardless of class. Akoy could really develop into a freak. I can see him running off elsewhere though.
  8. So let me get this straight out of "all" these decommits their have been two real ones, two told to go another route because of size issues, and a kid that had a 24 hour relapse. 9. C'mon aspeedlin, don't short change yourself. You and I were the only two that knew this was the master recruiting plan. Doin' it straight like Keegan, commit sight unseen.
  10. i hope you're right, but if any of those were "more than capable", i doubt the coaches would be scrambling so hard to sign a scholarship kicker. I would probably use the term "servicable" when describing the kickers on roster. I see Maher punting and Dann getting first crack at kicker. I expect if all goes well they will go the walkon approach next recruiting cycle, but if it hurts the team I can see the coaches going out and offering someone nationally or maybe the Farlee kid from Norfolk Catholic
  11. I don't buy into them but there are a bunch of rumors involving him. I actually can easily see Kent end up a Bulldog in the end. The close to home card is a popular play this recruiting season.
  12. Congrats, this post has been referenced over at huskermax, even said found at huskerboard. You are about to cause mass hysteria over there
  13. +1 ta bballbacker, nice to get it off the chest ain't it. Ahh, tis the beauty if this thread. Hiwever, I'd be lying if I had said I wasn't expecting some opposing views. I just figured it would have been a little more thought out and made a little more sense. Maybe the guy returns with a solid rebuttle. I can't wait, he has a little work to do to counter post. Another thinf the games in which Diaz led the team in scoring this year were against Savannah St, Eastern Washington, Hofstra, and USC. There is one opponent in there that is an impressive team. USC is the only team in the nonconference that had a front court player that looks anything like the bigs he'd see in the Big XII. Oh, yeah he had a whopping 3 rebounds that game. No what could be freaky though, Diaz's athleticism on Chris Neimann's frame and strength. Holy crap then I guess you'd have a player that would be playing at another college.
  14. Ya know what I have been thinking about this LB problem that seems tobe showing its ugly head. Keep the heat on Virgile, the Jenkins deal will work itself out but I am not holding my breath. So where do you look for another LB this late in the process? I say start 25 miles to the southwest, to the Class B champs, the Crete Cardinals. Borck Sherman is the guys name and was just an absolute beast this year. He has good size and decent speed(hell he was the Class B All State RB). If the Ruud's were worthy(especially Bo) then I definitely think Brock is. U can see him playing the same way, or even like former Hawkeye LB Chad Greenway. I think there is that much potential in the guy.
  15. Better start pushing Darius Vick towards football now. aspeedlin, it's official now put vick on the list
  16. I'm trusting our coaches can get him here. Agreed, they will send in Beck before signing day to close the deal. Oh no it's the Darian Bryant pro/con list all over again. Go to work with some of the best defensive minds in football or potentially have to deal with NCAA coming downon UNC. Butch Davis is also a hell of a closer when it comes to recruiting, and is not that shabby of a defensive mind in his own right. This could be tough
  17. He does look like a beast, but remember your comparing the looks of guys sweating prom dates to a guy that has been in a college lifting program for three years. I would hope that there is a pretty good difference
  18. This sucks. He actually had the attitude of a guy that embraces cold weather, knowing if he wants to play pro ball he'd have to play in it. I liked that. Seriously time to put the full press on Virgile. Frickin Zook. What a joke. PS Good luck with that FSU thing since they are more or less waiting on Tony Steward or bust at LB PPS aspeedlin, screw it might as well put Darius Vick from Southeast on the most wanted cause the prospects are getting thin.
  19. Oh come one aspeedlin, you know we both are holding out for Ray Drew to put all worries away and commit to the Huskers Paul, I think there is a better chance of you and me accepting an offer to play DE at Nebraska than Ray Drew coming here. Oh I would hope so man, considering my four years of college football eligibility was used up in the early 2000's. I just had to be that guy, because you know someone will sniff around the rivals site, see Drew isn't committed, see NU is a "finalist"(in which they are in no way) and want to know what the chances are NU can get him. But come on, I believe the token response here is, So you're saying there's a chance? And for those not really in the know reading this thread right now, NO there is not a chance for Ray Drew
  20. I generally like to load up on food and then hybernate. I wake up upon the end of spring training and celebrate opening day watching my beloved Cubs. After about two weeks and another year of "this is our year" dies in vane again I return to my hybernation. Actually huge sports fan, so I can make do with the NCAA, NBA, NHL, and MLB. Love skipping work to hit up a midweek Husker game, and generally make it to about 70% of their home games. When it gets warm enough you can find me at any of Lincoln's fine public golf courses. Having 4 and 5 years old boys also occupy a ton of my time, you know teaching them form tackling and the finer points of the 4-3 defense. Generally the summer is also a very busy time for me at work, so staying occupied isn't overly hard. It just reminds me how long there is to wait when I come onto here to chat with all you fine gentlemen and I see that damn countdown.
  21. Oh come one aspeedlin, you know we both are holding out for Ray Drew to put all worries away and commit to the Huskers
  22. Probably thinking that snow stuff be crazy
  23. Yeah the clown said it is up to others to get rebounds and the Huskers need his scoring more. Well he is half right I guess everyone else DOES get all the rebounds. Brian, congrats on another performance where you have out done yourself. Again two beefs for me. ONE as in point number one and REBOUND TOTAL. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! One effing rebound. You are 6'11 and only get ONE rebound. It may be plain to see now Almeida>Diaz. HELL, if Diaz gets just two rebounds tonight, maybe on a certain FT miss by Tech when NU is up 5 and you stand there and try to use the Jedi Force to make the ball come to you. Get up in the air and go get the thing. Like I said he pulls downthat board, Tech doesn't get ANOTHER second chance basket, and I bet NU wins. 2. Way to get straight owned by some guy that Brandon Ubel of all people used to push around in practice in high school every day. Two possessions and six points and two fouls right out of the gate in the 2nd half. A one point leads turns into a 8-0 opening run. Congrats on being the biggest patsy I have seen since Lamar Latrell in Revenge of the Nerds. Both of you have a pronounced limp wrist throwing/shooting style. At least the Nerds figured out a way to make it succeed.
