  1. I have tried to understand this situation and wondered what I would do if I was a 22 year old GA just getting started. As unfortunate as this may sound, it doesn't surprise me that he didn't step in. Then I find out he was 28???????????and he called his dad. Completely unacceptable. Needs to go.
  2. start there...I'll get more as needed. http://www.huffingto...o_n_546026.html http://www.opensecre...sts-charli.html http://www.techdirt....-lobbyist.shtml
  3. Support the troops... except when they turn out to have liberal ideals. Throw out 'catch phrases' and don't explain what the hell you are even talking about. Thanks Tommy Boy.
  4. Well not a single person besides JP even slightly raises their voice....and considering he's the professional... Right there is the rub he is a professional. We shouldn't have professional politicians!! The intent of the founding fathers was for citizens to GIVE fours years (or six) of their lives to the country and then go back to their original profession. Many politicians see the job as a lifetime gig and stick the taxpayer with more and more frills as their power grows with each election. That is why I think a major fix to this country would be to have term limits. Many people saw the dangers of one person staying in the white house for an extended period of time. Well, the same thing could be said for congress!! One of the best results of term limits would be the limited influence lobbyists would have over the congress. They couldn't cozy up to a politician they knew was going to win because he had been there for twenty years. Yeah . . . none of the founding fathers were career politicians. I love the broad "well the founders wanted this" arguments that are completely unsupported by history and reality. And I would wholeheartedly disagree with your last paragraph. One of the most powerful weapons utilized by lobbyists is to guarantee a politician a cushy job when he leaves office. How much more powerful is that weapon when the politician MUST retire on a certain date? That's a fact boys and girls.
  5. I read the title and what you wrote is exactly what I would have written with only one addition. We have developed a culture that 'wants to see people fail'. I call it a reality show culture. The media feeds off of it because they know we crave the flaws of others. It really doesn't have anything to do with college athletics in my opinion.
  6. This is going to be an awkward game. I don't see how PSU ever has their heads in this game after this circus.
  7. Sure seems like an ass, but I am curious what lead up to this. I'm sure this discussion started well before the clip. Business responds to the government policies......or does business write government policy (lobbyist).
  8. You do know that there have been numerous people who have, unfortunately, been the victim of harassment at two different jobs, right? The fact that she complained at back-to-back jobs shouldn't cloud your impression of her complaint against Cain. There's a little more to it than that knapp. Read the article. Can't recall details...c'mon.
  9. Shakedown....continued. http://news.yahoo.com/ap-exclusive-accuser-filed-complaint-next-job-080946066.html
  10. Welcome to Huskerboardepedia. This blows.

  11. The one that wants to talk (the one who wants more money) filed the claim shortly after he resigned. I'm sure Gloria Alred is beating down her door right now. The NRA settled which may or may not indicate anything. $35,000 or go to court, I guess that would be their call. I've seen it go both ways. This is far too predictable guys. Why do so many fall for it? No recourse for the accused. http://www.bloomberg...yee-bialek.html
  12. Did you even watch the video? That dude is drunk or on something. He slurring and seems to be a little slow. He appears to be the only person that is standing up to a police line. That being said, he probably isn't listening to what he is being told to do. I can't speak for the severity of a spleen injury, but I can imagine if you're resisting arrest it isn't that unthinkable. I had a teammate in high school that ruptured a spleen while blocking someone. Logically, straight out of KETV 7 playbook, they find a friend that tells you how great of a guy he is. KETV always finds the friend/family of a young gangbanger/dope slinger that was just on the verge of turning his life around before he got blasted. I'm not comparing a war vet to a drug dealer, so don't make this something it isn't. I wish people would stop throwing around the war veteran card like it somehow gives you the right to act like an ass. (http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/55262-1-marine-vs-30-cops/)
  13. The QB that played against NW is capable of winning a championship.
  14. I wish I knew a little more about defense to understand what he is trying to do. I know some 19 year old in a dorm room will give his analysis, but that really isn't what I'm looking for. There is clearly a huge open mass of green in the middle of 'D' and it has always been a part of Pelini's 'D'. The difference now is that there is no Hagg, Gomes, Asante or even O'Hanlon to cover that much field and make the play. Wait until there is no LaVonte David (oh no!). He appears to be content with dropping 8 into coverage which has worked in the past, but only when you force the QB to make a decision quickly. It literally looks like backyard football sometimes when the QB stands in the pocket and doesn't move for 6-8 seconds and then takes off for 15 yards. This is one reason why I can't stand people bashing our DB's.......Someone is going to open no matter how good you are (Prince and Blackmon 2010). On running plays, the opposing running back is always falling forward for another 3-5 yards. There is rarely a push up front.
  15. I'm from Douglas County. Yes, yes it is. They have a big game Tuesday. Go Wolves!
  16. I'm not a fan of Taylor and have been very critical of his play. I have also stated that I didn't think he could improve. The game he played yesterday was nothing short of outstanding. If he can continue to do what he did yesterday and keep mistakes to a minimum, I will quickly acknowledge that I was wrong. He looked unbelievable yesterday. His play yesterday has been overshadowed by the hole in the middle of the field when the defense is out there.
  17. I just like how none of this comes up when Rex has 35 touches and they win. It's really been this way for a while.....unpredictable.
  18. Lay off Thorell? I need to get better at proof reading.......................
  19. His situation reminds me so much of Matt O'Hanlon. I was convinced O'Hanlon was terrible. He needed a little time and got better...a lot better. I was wrong. Thorell is being bagged on for nothing more than being a walk-on from po dunk Loomis. The kid is an athlete. He is a sub 50 400 kid from high school. He ran the 110 hurdles in 14.5 (faster than Niles Paul). He is not the problem and I don't see why so many think so. I have been pleased how he has started making plays the last couple of weeks. He has become one of the more reliable open field tacklers we have.

  22. I don't think Pelini has ever had a pass rush in his tenure. Suh was a freak and either made plays for himself or opened up stuff for others. That being said, the talent that Suh has/had will likely not be seen anytime soon. The difference between this year and last year (IMO) is there are no longer two players like Hagg and Gomes that cover the whole field. There was a non existent pass rush last year too. One thing that is encouraging to me is that Martin has brought speed and power to the end spot that I haven't seen in a while.
  23. I was more surprised how quickly he got rid of the ball. It was ugly, like always, but it didn't seem like it was in slow motion. Maybe that's just on the long balls.
  24. This thread is more about identifying and developing talent rather than the walk on program. I actually think the walk-ons have bailed this team out time and time again. What I mean by that is....things would be far worse if they weren't here. It appears to me, atleast during the past couple of weeks, that Eric Martin may be one of the best D lineman that we have. It's great we have been watching him blow up people on kickoff for several years, but where has he been. I also kind of shrug my head when I see that Malcolm Brown is starting for Texas as a true Freshman. Wasn't recruiting really supposed to be a toss up between Brown and Aaron Green? I have been highly critical of T-Mart, but I think he played the game of his life yesterday. All that aside, can we not get a high level QB? We have walk-ons consistently in the O-Line, secondary and occasionally in the LB group.
