Huskers Land Texas Transfer QB Casey Thompson
BIG ERN replied to suh_fan93's topic in Husker Football
1 for sure - probably 2. Michigan St you can say it cost us but at the same time go score the f'in football. Our D gave up ZERO 1st downs all second half and we scored 10 points. AM had a fumble and INT with 0 passing TDs - did score on two close runs. -

I hear you. Def not all on AM but I think last year proved the kid just for some reason didn't have "it". Over and over was insanely not clutch. Toure had 900 yards receiving and got drafted. Allen was 1st team B10 TE. Center was taken in 2nd round. Our defense was good enough. We had a QB who couldn't win... -

I am a film guy always. Watch the tape....watch the drop back of CT vs AM. Watch how one throws off the back foot and side arms balls and the other doesn't. Watch one get the ball batted at the line every fourth throw and one doesn't. Watch the quick release and decision making vs each other. Watch the footwork and release. -

AM had 4 INT vs Purdue and a fumble...5 turnovers. Oh yeah, he was also 48% passing that game. I don't see CT being that bad ever in a game. He will have some struggles at times but man I cannot wait for a good QB. -

Adrain Martinez leads the nation! ...in fumbles. -
No surprise but I really hope we have someone on deck if Farmer shies from tackling again.

Grant Ervin/Yant/Johnson The initial starter doesn't mean much to me for this room this year. When Whipple doesn't see someone great he will distribute carries. If he feels you are an impact player you will see a load of carries/receptions.
-
Ervin works hard and has good IQ to the playbook. I think that will always help someone see the field...he does all things good. Just not sure if he does anything great. Time will tell. I think right now AG is our #1.

D should always be ahead of the offense in the off-season imo
-
That makes more sense. I forgot that some teams didn't update that (which is odd). Needs to be one way or the other imo so all teams on the same page.
-
All teams had the same covid free year and still have many starting SRs. Iowa for example is slated to start 8 Seniors on defense alone this year....I agree we aren't inexperienced as it seems.
-
Hardy, Grimes and Jones are on the chopping block for WRs. Smothers leaves if no PT this year (surprised he hasn't yet tbh). After CT is done I think the battle will be Purdy vs Haarberg.
-
Crazy to think we will probably start only 5 total Seniors this year which is great if we have a good season looking into the near future. I also think we can trim up some of our skill positions for more lineman etc. We don't need 6 scholarship QBs next year. I wouldn't sign a RB this year given we have 6 scholarships there and don't graduate anyone.

Hill impressed me with his HS film as a returner. Palmer of course as well -

I'd be surprised if this wasn't the 6 as of early on... 1. Palmer 2. Martin 3. Manning 4. Garcia-Castaneda 5. Washington 6. Brown -

I think Brewington can be a Kyler Reed type this year. -
Ameer was a little more compact muscles wise maybe but size doesn't always matter. Rahmir was actually a good blocker last year and can catch the ball very well. Does struggle a tad in between the tackles. I think he starts game 1 based off of experience and trust.

The good news....my lord is Raiola better than Austin. Night n day
-
I'll keep saying this is our best combo in years if we did it... Teddy Lutovsky Hixson Hutmacher (obvi can't now this year and he will still be a good DL, calm down) Corcoran

Sucks Drew still isn't on campus -
You can't just dismiss field goals. If you can't move the ball in the red zone you resort to a FG...I think you made a point it wasn't as bad as it seemed but end of the day you were 71st in PPG. Year before 102nd. We haven't been a top 50 offense since Frost has been here. Nebraska was 20th in yards per game last year and 71st in scoring...can't just be due to 8/16 FGs.
-
The run game was the main reason the offense couldn't do sh*t in the red zone. Outside of AM scrambles and runs the RB and OL were awful. Leading RB per game vs P5 teams: Illinois: Ervin 33 yards (2.8 ypc) Oklahoma: Johnson 42 yards (3.8 ypc) Michigan St: Johnson 76 yards (4.0 ypc) Northwestern: Yant 127 yards (9.8 ypc) W Michigan: Johnson 67 yards (3.9 ypc) Minnesota: Johnson 83 yards (7.5 ypc) Purdue: Yant 60 yards (10 ypc) AM 4 INTs Ohio St: Johnson 62 yards (3.9 ypc) Wisconsin: Belt: 31 yards (4.4 ypc) Iowa: Yant 44 yards (3.4 ypc) Only one time did a RB go for over 100 yards...and what do you know we won that game. Twice if you count Stepp vs Fordham.
-
Stille and Daniels for Wynn and Drew. T Rob and Nash also a year older. I'd say we are fine... The bigger difference will be the Edge guys with Nelson, Mathis and Tannor.

If Nash doesn't produce this year I will slap the staff for not switching him to the OL where he should have been day 1
