  1. Why would you think this? An hour after the helicopter and plane crashed into each other Trump blamed DEI. Why would someone think they need to make the Trump admin look bad by doing this? That’s the least logical conclusion.
  2. How in the hell would this save $500 billion? SS is not going to be fully funded by the mid 2030s. You don’t save the $500 you keep it in the fund. Same goes with medicare.
  3. It's a years/decades long project, and we are trying to kick our cheapest labor out of the country. The combination just does not work. If you want this to work, offer more legal immigration from Mexico and South America. Even then, it might still not work and will still take a long time.
  4. It's downright hilarious that the people who prefer nationalism and isolationism are okay with Musk being given so much power.
  5. Europe would be stupid to continue sharing intelligence with the US.
  6. Biden was willing to contonue supporting Ukraine for a longer period of time and to consider their membership in NATO as part of the negotiations, among other things. He wasn’t going to force Ukraine’s hand when it came to peace. Trump would have told Zelensky privately they have to take a peace deal. That’s not something Biden would have done. And he could have done that privately prior to negotiations. Trump could have forced Ukraine to negotiate but in a way that Ukraine got something out of it. It would not have been what they wanted but they would have known the US was not going to continue supporting the war effort much longer. Trump could have gotten all that by being supportive of Ukraine in the negotiations but privately telling them we aren’t going to continue supporting the war effort much longer so they need to negotiate peace right now. Biden did not have the same attitude on things. But instead, Trump/the Trump admin is pulling support ahead of negotiations, ceding things in comments to the press ahead of negotiations (eg telling Ukraine NATO is off the table instead of going into negotiations with it on the table and offering to remove it in exchange for something from Russia), and cornering Ukraine with their aggressor instead of supporting them so they can still get something out of a peace deal. Because they are getting no assurances or… anything at all, they don’t really have anything to gain from a peace deal. They have to assume Russia will invade again within the next 2 years. You don’t go into a negotiation with an adversary telling them in advance you’ve already given a bunch of things up. It tells them they don’t need to trade anything for those things.
  7. Nothing would surprise me anymore. Stopping the support for the F16s? That’s got to be a penny on the dollar for what it cost to get the planes there. So with that in mind, us selling equipment/shells/etc to Russia to help them win the war would not surprise me in the least.
  8. I don’t think Ukraine has anything to gain from working with the US anymore. Unfortunately, since Trump is a Russian asset, if Europe helps them too much for his liking and embarrasses him by helping Ukraine not have to negotiate the s#!ttiest “peace” deal in history, he will directly help Russia as much as he can. If he isn’t already doing exactly that. His “Ukraine doesn’t have the cards” bulls#!t pisses me off. All Ukraine needed was for the US and Trump to say during negotiations that Ukraine had their full support. Then Trump could have gotten a peace deal out of the thing that wasn’t attrocious for Ukraine. Privately, Ukraine would have known that the US wanted to pull aid, and that’s why they would have made concessions they previously were unwilling to make. But he couldn’t even do that, even though it would have saved the US money and achieved his goal. Again, he is either a Russian asset because he’s a moron, or this is all a show and it’s purposeful. He is doing more for the Russians than they could have ever dreamed of.
  9. This is just the start of them demonizing protestors, so that when they start shooting them a lot of people decide they deserved it.
  10. Basically. When it was a personal story about one kid being bullied it was semi-realistic. When you have a literal war going on with multiple felonies being committed every year and no police ever seem to take interest, that’s when it starts to get silly.
  11. They’re planning to cut half of the IRS’s workforce of 90,000. That would be the least they’ve had as far back as I can find the data, which is 1980. The least they had was 72,000. Trying to automate more things would be good but based on every other decision by this admin it will just be a random cut with no thought put into it. And a bunch of government employees ordered to return to office did not have desks or internet at the office.
  12. Trump believes in mercantilism (without knowing the name for it).
  13. Now that they've said they can hold, the U.S. will not only lift sanctions but probably start giving equipment to Russia.
  14. what am I going to do about my maple syrup baths
  15. This is how I feel too. The only hope to right this ship is if it’s quick and blatantly obvious how big of a mistake this is. I said right after the elections I hope he does all of the economy related things he says he will.
