  1. Wanting to protect the environment has nothing to do with political correctness. That being said I'd like to see some actual research on the damage they do. Yeah, Hunter94! Take that! Good work Mo. And Mo, if you do find that research on balloons and how quickly they biodegrade please be sure to post that in this thread or even start another thread, this board could use some hot topics like that. Kay. Things don't biodegrade instantly so I'm not sure what that photo was supposed to prove. McDonald's fries take ages. Maybe those balloons take 100 years instead of 1,000,000.
  2. Lawrence Phillips dragged his girlfriend down several flights of stairs by her hair. Try to imagine having that happen to you for a second. There is absolutely no reason why we can't judge Osborne for letting Phillips stay on the team. I think Osborne is a good man and tried to do the right thing. I don't think he kept Phillips on the team because he thought it would win him a national championship. But that doesn't change the fact that he should have been kicked off the team. It doesn't matter that Phillips did what was asked of him. What should have been asked of him was to not come to anymore practices or games because he was no longer a part of the team. No one is saying that Osborne is as bad as Paterno. What's being said is that outward appearances aren't everything.
  3. Most people who use the word agenda have no idea what it means. Most of the time people have opinions without having an agenda other than wanting to speak their opinion. I mean, if anyone posting here actually had an agenda, they wouldn't be trying to forward it by posting here.

  5. And now he is the athletic director of a major university while you are doing what??? If I learned anything from the thread on Trump...having a sweet gig or lots of money or a chance to be president as the republican nominee means nothing and you only got to all those things because of luck and everyone else being stupid. You didn't learn anything, exaggerator.
  6. I didn't know there was a primary (I'm an independent). And I think a lot of Sanders voters are new to the whole thing. Maybe a lot of them weren't aware this was happening.
  7. I wish people would quit misspelling Ickyhorst.
  8. The NCAA might want to rethink reinstating Paterno's wins. When you threaten a boy who claims your assistant coach raped him, you're a win at all costs coach. And Paterno WAS their football program.
  9. What matters most about UNL is education. Period. I'd put research above that.
  10. Its been a long day and I'm not smart. Cut me some slack ☺ For the record, Sanders won Nebraska a couple months ago.
  11. So, I started playing this game in alpha called Rust. There are some things I really love about it. You start out buck naked with a rock and a torch. You can design your own base. Or multiple bases. You learn blueprints to make more advanced things for your base, or more advanced weapons. You can hunt animals for food and cloth to make your own clothes. There are air drops from helicopters and planes and there's radiation in some areas. It's a post apocalyptic world but you never really find out what happened. You're just trying to survive. The trouble with it is the player base is a bunch of jerkfaces. Most of the time the other players just shoot you without question. Every so often you can talk your way out of being shot and only have to give half your crap to them. The only way to do really well is to play with a bunch of other people on a team or clan. The fact it's so challenging trying to hide from the other players and not get killed is kind of fun in its own way but it can be incredibly frustrating when you're just starting out in the game and they have rocket launchers and machine guns vs your wooden spear. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for games like this where you either can't kill the other players, or there are specific pvp zones/safe zones, or the player base isn't a bunch of a**holes.
  12. People who think football is the most important thing at UNL make me giggle. So ignorant. People who are incapable of separating their own preferences from facts make me giggle as well. It's possible to care only about football when it comes to UNL, but at the same time realize that football is not the most important thing about the university. I mean, to just name a couple things, UNL is pretty damn important when it comes to figuring out how to feed large populations and come up with alternative fuel sources. I could go on.
  13. I still think Paul Ryan wants something...and I think he might end up being his running mate. I have a feeling there is a bit more going on with Ryan right now. There isn't any way Ryan wants to be Trumps running mate. Ryan is a legitimate good guy and feels great allegiance to Romney who Trump continues to blast. Ryan also is the leader of the House Republicans, many whose districts do not like Trump and there needs to be a Conservative contrast to Trump for all Congressional seats on November. Trump is not a Republican, and never has been. He's already changing his views on taxes and the minimum wage to align with the Dems, and he will continue to move left of center in hopes of attracting more Dems at the expense of true Conservatives. I would love to see Romney run as a 3rd party. He would win Utah and a couple other deep red states, Trump may win Michigan, Pennsylvania and some light blue states, leaving no candidate getting to 270 electoral votes. It will then go to the House, where if Romney is running as well, the GOP will maintain the House and will pick the next POTUS. It's very early but Trump is behind by a lot in all light blue state polls I looked at.
  14. I actually saw the NC law in an article now. Why the hell are the media (and in turn, us) obsessing over the bathroom part? Um, this part is just a tad more important: "It also stops cities from passing anti-discrimination ordinances to protect gay and transgender people." This is worse than the Nebraska (or maybe it was just Omaha) version but it reminds me of the law Ron Brown fought by using his weight saying he lived at Memorial Stadium. The one where gays just wanted protection from being fired solely for being gay.
  15. Just came here to post that. How in the holy hell can anyone with any amount of brain at all rationalize voting for someone who suggests that we can just print money to avoid default? And I thought Bush said some stupid things.
  16. I keep doing this. The problem is that, even though about 3/4 of my ride is nice, wide bike paths, there's always some couple walking holding hands, or someone walking their dog on those expandable leashes with the dog clear on the other side of the bike path, or some biker/jogger/walker on the narrow sidewalk. So I take the grass, because I'm a nice guy. Ha ha! Yeah, I'd probly take the grass too. Bikes are dangerous. Or rather, cars are dangerous to bike riders. I've had two friends killed in bike-car accidents in the past five years. In both cases it was the car driver's fault. So there's that. Ugh that sucks. And the law is not kind to cyclists. Most people who make the laws don't bike. I have heard it's very hard for cyclists to win in any type of collision. I've seen so much road rage from cars as a cyclist. Even going 20mph on a 25 with multiple lanes to pass me, and doing everything legally. I once saw a guy get out of his truck to chase after a cyclist on foot (derp) and scream at him then walk back to his truck which was parked at a stoplight. Also been yelled at and told to "use the sidewalk, a-hole" on a bike ride at 5am in a smalltown on a road with no cars on it and room enough for 3 car widths to drive on. I did absolutely nothing to slow down the guy who yelled at me. And the sidewalk in question was in horrible shape with multiple cars in driveways blocking its path. People are stupid. Then there are the drivers who stop everything they're doing to be overly polite to cyclists instead of follow the law of the road. For instance ignore the order of stop signs/yield and try to get the cyclist to go first which often endangers the cyclist with regards to the other cars. It's maddening close to the capitol in Lincoln because there are lots of roads with stop signs one way and not the other and every single morning I could count on a driver stopping when they had the right of way and I had the stop sign, ushering me to go.
  17. A few years back I worked up to riding from city campus to about 2 miles past 84th and O with the goal of making it to Eagle. But I really hated riding on gravel. It seems about 1.5x the effort of riding on pavement. Plus my bike was made about 30 years ago. It's very heavy for a mountain bike and I don't think the tires are ideal for gravel. Anyhow I'm hoping to start doing 15-20 mile rides again this summer. So the answer is no
  18. I agree with you here. Hillary is about the worst candidate possible, and nearly all GOP candidates running this year could beat her...except for someone like Trump. I know many Conservatives who actually believed Trump was one of them, and he's already changing his tune on the minimum wage and other issues, and our choices are going to be a RINO-wannabe (Trump) vs a Socialist wannabe (Hillary). This will be the first time I am not voting for one of the two major party candidates, and if no viable 3rd Party candidate runs, I will just not vote for POTUS or do a write-in. If Trump and his team had half a brain, they would stop insulting the GOP candidate he just beat and focus on unifying the party. Instead, he's continuing to lambast anyone that disagrees with him, and in the process is alienating the 60% of GOP primary voters that have never supported him. He acts like the burden is on everyone else just to get on board, but he's got to be making the effort to bring others along. The last part especially is why I don't understand how anyone could think Trump would be a good president. We've seen with Obama that presidents can't complete a lot of their goals if congress is constantly butting heads with them. (People like to complain about his executive orders but he hasn't had that many compared to previous presidents). This is all with just the Republicans against him. Trump will have the Democrats against him, of course. But he'll also have a lot of Republicans and all moderates against him. I don't think he'd do much of anything as president except worsen most of our foreign relations (which his followers seem to think we can do without, anyway). Even if he actually has a good idea it's not going to go through except by executive order and all of his executive orders would be scrutinzed for their legality. Honestly with a Trump presidency I wouldn't be surprised to see the two parties actually unifying together for the common cause of impeaching him. I'm just not seeing Clinton being worse than him. I don't like her but at least she's not going to piss off every foreign country we have a relationship with. She probably won't do anything anymore "radical" than Obama did, either. And despite what Cruz likes to tell people, she and her supreme court nominee are not going to try to get rid of the 2nd amendment. She's a lot less Left than people seem to think. A lot of people just hate her character/morality/husband or what they think her character/morality are.
  19. You can't build a business (which the US economy is, by the way) without taking risk. Employees simply don't understand. So when people talk about Trump bankrupting 4 companies as a reason why he's inept all I can do is roll my eyes and laugh. The reason most people don't go bankrupt is because they never do anything of significance. They clock in and clock out day after day at a job they don't like (but try to convince themselves and others that they do) and then try to tell everyone else how to run their lives. Sorry if you perceive this as "hoop jumping." I realize Trump isn't perfect. I realize the things he's planning on doing are somewhat risky. But what's the alternative? Continuing to be a doormat in the world with trade, education, economy, immigration, etc.? Count me out on that one. On the current path, America is on track for total collapse, and Trump is the only one who's planning to do anything about it. Sorry if he doesn't tip-toe around like the politicians that so many people on this board seem to adore, but so many of the things that he's proposing have been desperately needed in this country for decades now. Have fun living in Canada. So what is he "planning on doing"? Other than say he's the greatest and he has awesome plans - what has he actually said he will do? He speaks with ZERO content other than to spew hatred and bigotry. He's an embarrassment to this country. You speak of his bankruptcies as badges of honor because he tried. He impacted millions of people with each of those filings, which he admits he made out well financially by doing so. These are our fellow americans, you and I who are trying to work to feed ourselves and our families. Once, is a mistake - two, three and four more is just greed, poor business planning and strategy, and absolute selfishness. Look into his promises to the folks in the communities in Scotland, and in Jersey City as well as other spots where he's done business. It's indicative of what we're up for if he gets a place in government. False promises that he can't deliver on. ZERO CONTENT. He's a buffoon. You must not be a woman or have a wife, or more specifically a daughter. Would you be ok with him alluding to her to get on her knees to earn his business support? With him belittling her professional skills by calling her a bimbo? Once again, you have no idea about anything business related. I'd like to see you go out and try to build a 10 billion dollar empire and see how many companies you bankrupt. I bet it will be more than 4. Much, much more. It's a lot easier to take risks when you get the kind of start Trump had. Also, people disagreeing with you does not automatically mean they know nothing about the topic. Saying so makes you look like the idiot in the conversation.
  20. 3462 votes and 3000 counties. The graph is neat but the sample size isn't big enough.
  21. Oh man...I know one poster that is about to come here and freak the F out. Who's that?
  22. He can do what he wants, and I've never tweeted a recruit or any other athlete, but he said he was gonna pick his school then shutdown recruiting. He has now retweeted someone announcing that he's meeting with Lane Kiffin today. I'm not saying anyone should panic but I don't see why people are sure there's nothing to be worried about. On the bright side Alabama was already on his list. At least it's not a new offer.
  23. No. Look at Devine and Kadie. I'm guessing it's weighted by gender and height for the vertical.
