  1. Coaches can use private jets to visit recruits. There is a fleet of private jet time that many big boosters will donate to the Athletic Department.
  2. Yes, Central Florida's SOS will take a hit down the road, but what has impressed me is they aren't just winning games, they are curb-stomping teams. Good teams/coaches go out and whip inferior opponents.
  3. The constant that has been in NU the past few years is Mike Riley. I know his assistants haven't been great, but Riley is the problem that needs to be shown the door.
  4. I was going to say 3-3, but then I settled for 2-4. Ohio State and Penn State are going to roll NU, and I think NU is basically at the same level as the rest of the teams on the schedule, so NU probably goes 2-2 against the other 4. In all honestly, Riley's teams find ways to lose, rather than finding ways to win.
  5. It's only been 3 weeks since Eichorst was fired. If the hire is done any time before Thanksgiving, it's been a quick hire. Hiring an AD is a lot more time consuming and can be "more difficult" than hiring a head coach.
  6. Here are the current SOS rankings from ESPN. This is through this past week's games. https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other Central Florida was significantly higher than NU before this past week. NU got a bump up from playing Wisconsin, and UCF's SOS was hurt from whipping up on Cincinnati.
  7. Do you follow recent news at all? Trev announced last week that he's staying at Nebraska-Omaha and isn't a candidate for the NU job. Now, yes, I guess it technically could still happen, but it's probably about a 1% chance.
  8. Reed took a helmet to the knee on a cut block by Wisconsin early in the game. He wasn't able to make it back, and that's why Kalu played so much against Wisconsin.
  9. Cav is a complete moron. I think the o-line has improved since Decker and Jaimes have entered the starting lineup. But those guys only sniffed playing time because there were injuries in front of them. I don't know what he sees in practice or if he plays favorites to certain guys, but when he kept on saying Cole Conrad was the best center, when he's obviously not, it shows me that Cav is dumb and stubborn.
  10. You can have the biggest, toughest SOB's in the country, but then the coaches aren't demanding enough to bring that out of them, then the team is going to be Charmin soft.
  11. Sam comments in today's Monday rewind, that NU's secondary is too small and not good enough tacklers to make the tackles it needs to against a team like Wisconsin. Reed should have been starting over Kalu, even before Reed got a helmet to his knee early in the game. Sometimes I think Riley thinks it's a game of 7 on 7 out there where the secondary just needs to cover pass routes and the QB doesn't have to worry about handling a pass rush, and small WR's can run free against the secondary until they get open.
  12. It's such a silly argument to say that because UCF is able to be super efficient in the passing game that they don't commit to the run. NU has a coach who tries to say he wants balance, but has one of the most inefficient offenses I have seen.
  13. UCF's starting QB is averaging nearly 300 yards per game on 25 pass attempts per game. Don't confuse successful passing with an offense that doesn't run the ball. The ability to hit the big play from an RPO or play action pass is built off a successful run game.
  14. If NU gets blown out by Ohio State and Penn State and still manages to finish 7-5, I think Bounds and Green would push the new AD to fire Riley. Remember how they used "competing" in the Eichorst firing press conference. That wouldn't be competing.
  15. Step 1: Hire the best AD they can find Step 2: Fire Mike Riley and his entire staff Step 3: Hire the best head coach and group of assistants that they can
  16. Great point. I am sure they ran the play 10 times against no defense, and a few times against a soft defense with cornerbacks and OLB's who aren't physical.
  17. One of the best things that a new coach at Nebraska would enjoy is the relatively weak Big Ten West division. There is really only one great program in Wisconsin, and I think a great coach can get NU to compete with them and beat them at least 50% of the time. If NU is able to beat Wisconsin, they should be able to win the division, and that does give them an opportunity to win the conference.
  18. Yep, Lee looks great in shorts and a t-shirt and throwing against air. Once he gets on the real field during a game, he's a completely different QB.
  19. Everything Langsdorf does is to set up the pass. NU is running great that first drive with Ozigbo, and is in a short yardage situation, and Langsdorf automatically thinks pass. Yes, it's supposed to be a "safe pass", but even the simplest pass can be risky when it's not executed. I do know what would have been a much safer call, it would have been two runs with Ozigbo on 3rd and 4th down to get the first down.
  20. Riley's and Langsdorf's reactions to the pick 6 is like they accept no responsibility at all. These types of coaches think they are so smart and think they are calling the correct plays most of the time, so they have a hard time admitting their mistakes. I understand they may have practiced that play 15 times during the week, and it worked every time, but when it doesn't work in the game, accept some darn responsibility.
  21. 1. Siemien starting is odd, but that's more due to Denver's strong D and them wanting a QB who will be smart and not make mistakes, even though Siemien doesn't play mistake free 100% of the time. 2. I am with you on not worrying about Lee's pro prospects. Yes, it's great when Huskers do well in the NFL, but I care most about what they do when they are in Lincoln.
  22. I agree. Patterson isn't leaving TCU. He has everything he could want there now, and has among the best job security in the nation.
  23. If he is having trouble making quick decisions in the college game, how is he going to succeed in the NFL?
  24. NFL scouts may love his arm and size, but if they take one look at how he makes poor decisions, he won't sniff the NFL.
