  1. Rhule is saying things to get thru this year and to try and get Haarberg to play better this year. You are probably right, but I don’t see Haarberg being a viable QB. Rhule likes his competitive spirit, but Haarberg is not a QB.
  2. I don’t want HH anywhere near the QB. I don’t even think he’s a good running QB, unless he has wide open spaces.
  3. I think it was Rhule. Rhule was told Sims had NFL talent and body, but Rhule must have never seen him play.
  4. Just because Rhule whiffed on Sims doesn’t mean he will do it again with another transfer QB or two. Rhule knows his team needs better QB play and he needs to do whatever it takes to get that better talent.
  5. Sims will be let out of his scholly, so he will be gone. Tell Haarberg he’s moving to TE. Purdy may be willing to stick around because he may not have many options to play anywhere. That leaves Kaelin coming in as a true freshman, and best case 2 transfer QB’s.
  6. The Big Ten doesn’t have ESPN as one of the TV partners. When NBC ponied up the cash to be involved in the Big Ten, part of the agreement was putting games on Peacock.
  7. I agree with you on this. Rhule said it was a corner route, but the WR was just barely beyond the goal line when the pass was thrown. If QBs and WRs can’t execute, then why call the play in the first place?
  8. Part of me agrees with you, but NU isn’t deep enough at RB, and just can’t line up and run at defenses to move the ball down the field. There are things I don’t like about Satt, but he’s trying to get chunk plays out of the passing game to move the ball down field.
  9. After his good run to get a first down, Purdy was so confused about the next play call that NU was forced to call a timeout. He made a good throw to Kemp and another decent run to get to the 6 after Johnson’s big run. But, for what ever reason, Purdy didn’t go with the called play call on first and goal.
  10. Rhule said the call was a hand off to Johnson on first and goal, and Purdy went rogue and kept it. He then threw it away when he was out of the pocket. The pass for a TD on 3rd down was very questionable, especially given the way it ended up. What I don’t get is how a corner route was thrown to the front of the end zone, and as others said it was very similar to the Sims INT against Minnesota.
  11. And to be fair, Haarberg was going to be 3rd string and basically a tight end until Sims and Purdy were hurt. Sims just can’t play without making mistakes and turnovers and who knows what Purdy can do. We just don’t have a QB.
  12. Gotta go for 2 QB’s in the portal. One older and one younger.
  13. Haarberg has been here 3 years. If Haarberg’s motion was going to be fixed, it needed to be his first year at NU. Haarberg received no coaching last year, because Whipple was focused on Casey Thompson and Chubba Purdy and Haarberg was 4th string. The new coaches tried to work with Haarberg this spring, but it didn’t take. Nothing can be done with his throwing motion. I do agree that teaching him and the other QB’s better decision making is something that a better QB coach/OC could be able to do.
  14. Haarberg’s throwing motion isn’t on Satterfield. That thing is just busted. However, Satterfield should go to coaching TE’s like the original plan, and Rhule needs to bring in a QB coach who can coach and develop QB’s.
  15. Rhule said in his PC that the first down play was a run to Johnson. Purdy kept the ball instead. Still can’t pass on 3rd down though.
  16. This is the first game where I thought the coaches had a bad game. They made a number of decisions that were bad for NU to lose that game.
  17. I’m just glad we don’t have Jac Collinsworth on the broadcast. That dude sucks.
  18. Hearing Hail Varsity played on Peacock has made it worth buying it
  19. Threads on Solich/Pelini and a move back to the Big 12 in the same week? It’s not even the off-season!!!
  20. One game in Rhule’s first season has you all spooked in where NU should be conference wise?
  21. Why throw in a QB who isn’t getting many reps in practice? If a move to another QB is going to happen, it will need to start in practice, and that hasn’t happened.
  22. It’s kinda funny how people’s emotions can swing wildly from week to week, depending on how NU fares. I know they are just being fans, but I don’t know why so many people are now doom and gloom after losing to Michigan State. It’s one game from year one of this program rebuild. Nebraska didn’t play all that differently than they have in the prior 3 games, NU just lost that one.
  23. Chubba Purdy is still #3 on the depth chart. That means he’s getting zero reps with the #1 offense, and limited reps with the #2 offense. Anyone expecting Chubba to make a miraculous jump and be the savior at QB is living in a fantasy world.
  24. No kidding. I don’t know why people want to take a step back, just because NU isn’t having success in the Big Ten. It’s not even near the same Big 12 which NU would be going back to. The future Big 12 is closer to the Mountain West than it is the Big Ten. People think about the Big 12 or another conference, just like people call for the backup QB to be played. They see NU not playing well in the current situation, so they think about the “other possibility” and automatically assume that would be better.
  25. Ozigbo was also overweight for most of his time at NU. He got in much better shape for his senior year at NU, and had a great season. He has kept that up since then and has been able to make a living playing football. Kudos to him.
