  1. Was Kade Warner hurt or did he just not make the on-field roster? Not that it would've mattered with the offensive we showed today. I am going to re-watch it later tonight but everything from coaching to the players to the turnovers, just unbelievably bad today.
  2. I am so disappointed by what I saw today. I've been looking forward to this day for 8 months and then to see such a poor offensive effort I give props to the D as everyone else is mentioning but I can't forget that South Alabama is not a good football team, heck, they have never had a winning record in their existence and were 3-8 last year. So if our offense struggles against a better team, I fear our D won't be able to win us the game again like they did today. The opening drive was so good and then it seems as if Martinez was stuck in quicksand. We should have been able to run all over these guys. I don't think next week is going to be pretty...ugh.
  3. I've been pleading for Frost before Riley was hired but this decision on the new AD makes me think we are all going to be wrong and possibly very upset. I bet they bring in a new HC that none of us had on our radar and it will be Callahan-Riley all over again. I pray I am wrong but something about this new AD makes me think we are in for more disappointment.
  4. Just saw that Gary Anderson quit as HC at OSU, and LEFT his contract and remaining money owed on the table. What a perfect time for Riley to do the same here at Nebraska!
  5. For anyone to say “stop living in the 90’s” is ridiculous. Having expectations that our current team should be able to compete and actually win games, even vs. teams like Wisconsin or Ohio State is what every fan should want (and our coaching staff too). We’ve taken a huge step back under Riley. As others have said, he’s toast at the end of the season, maybe even sooner if next week gets embarrassing. He looks absolutely lost on the sidelines and his lack of interaction with the players during games I think has been incredibly detrimental.
  6. I was trolling some UCF message boards and it sounds like Frost was a bit upset with the lack of crowd at the Memphis game. Only 34k in the stands and was pretty empty until mid-way through the first half. Posters on their message boards are all pretty much resigned to Frost leaving for Lincoln.
  7. When Riley was hired and brought over almost his entire coaching staff with him from OSU and started wearing the Husker "N" on his hats and shirts, it just didn't feel right. They had no connection to Nebraska but suddenly were Huskers? Maybe no one else feels this way, but for me, I want someone leading the team or even the athletic department that has ties to the state. They either grew up here or played for the Huskers and understand the traditions. I live in Arizona and every time someone stops me because I have my Nebraska hat on, you have this immediate connection and common ground. "Hey, you from Nebraska?" "Yeah, I grew up there." And a conversation forms. I don't believe Alberts/Frost are definitely better than other AD/Coach combos out there but I do know that I will root for them harder, show more patience and just have a level of confidence that their decisions are in line with the culture and roots of the Big Red which I believe will translate to wins on the field.
  8. From someone who hasn't lived in Nebraska for a number of years but is still a HUGE fan, can someone enlighten me on why people don't like Trev Alberts or think he would be bad for this position? Has he done well at UNO?
  9. We should start a GoFundMe page to buy a billboard in the Orlando/UCF area with some catchy message for Scott!
  10. I guess I don't get the hype of a national search that will undoubtedly end up bringing someone in with no Nebraska ties who will then most likely hire a coach with no Nebraska ties. Haven't we already done this twice now with bad results? It's time to bring in an AD and HC that are former Huskers who understand the traditions, mentality, and life of being a student-athlete in Nebraska and can connect to all of us crazy-diehard-fans. Just my 2 cents.
  11. I would take a coach any day who actually shows some fire and enthusiasm during games (Bo) compared to what we have now (Mike) that literally stands 20 feet way from everyone with his hands on his knees. That's not coaching. Bo wasn't perfect and I don't 100% disagree he needed to go but people are way to harsh on him.

I am with you 100%. That's the kind of football I grew up watching and obviously Nebraska did very well with it for decades. Funny how the replies above make fun of this post as if what we are doing now with Riley or even before with Bo was working so well??? I don't think we have to go back to the offense we had in the early 90's per say but would be nice to incorporate some of it and also have a QB who doesn't make like a statue when the o-line collapses and can run and scramble.
  13. 6. Nebraska is paying for a bad hire: Mike Riley is a good guy and a good coach, but he wasn’t the right hire for Nebraska. As schools tend to do when they don’t like the coach they fired, they went for the complete opposite, trading the high-strung and often abrasive Bo Pelini for the quintessential laid-back, West Coast good guy. At this point in Riley’s tenure, Nebraska should be better. Forget changing the culture or changing offensive systems or whatever excuse you want to use. You can’t lose at home to Northern Illinois in Year 3, as the Cornhuskers did Saturday, 21-17. Even worse, Nebraska didn’t exactly look like the superior team at the line of scrimmage in the fourth quarter. Pelini may not have endeared himself to a lot of people in Lincoln, but even his worst was better than this. If you’re a Nebraska administrator, you have to be very concerned about the direction this program is heading.
  14. I just emailed him at ucffootball@athletics.ucf.edu and said I would help him move back to Lincoln
  15. So tired of his non-enthusiastic demeanor on the sidelines, even Holly Sonders said that in the first half, she didn't see any excitement or urgency from our players. Love him or hate him, at least Bo got his players and people excited from time to time. This staff needs to go and take the AD with them. Embarrassing.
  16. Funny, I got banned from this forum for being "too negative" about the hiring of Mike Riley and now two years and 3 games later, my opinion and those of a lot of posters on here is ringing 100% true. This is a total crap-show and will not get any better with this staff.
  17. I've been on the fence all season, I really don't care about Bo's tantrums or his off-air remarks, all I care about is how we play on the field for the most part. I am fine with him staying but I would like to see a new OC, our offense has zero identity, gives our defense little time to rest and seems like our play calling changes dramatically each and every game, as if they have no clue what works and just try various things. Hate to bring up the old days, but our offense used to tire the other team out and by the end of the 3rd Qtr. it was over as the opponent was exhausted. The 3 and outs we have now are very damaging. I would also like to see us go back to a huddle approach, if anything, to just give our defense some more time to catch their breath. Anyways, looks like Pelini is here to stay unless we get blow out in the bowl game...Stanton vs. Armstrong will be the next thing to watch I guess...
  18. No more kool-aide please. We are 7-3 with a 3 point win over Wyoming, 2 wins against small schools, i.e. South Dakota State and Southern Miss, a couple wins over BIG 10 doormats, one loss, cough, I mean win against Northwestern, one good win over Michigan and 3 losses against the better teams, UCLA, Minnesota and Michigan State. Take away the creampuffs at the beginning of the season and we are 4-3 with a lucky last minute win, so could be 3-4. I am tired of it. Today was as frustrating as it can get, to outplay the other team but to inflict so many turnovers, it's just sad. What makes anyone think next year will be different? We keep saying that every year. We are -2 in bowl games last two years, will probably have 1-2 more losses this year and I don't know, just need something to change...
  19. I say this every time, when a team doesn't try to move the ball and just basically lets the clock run out and escape into the locker room for half-time, bad things happen. We have the ball with several TO's left and an opportunity to drive down and maybe kick a field goal but instead do nothing (like usual) and then a fumble occurs. Ugh.
  20. Wow, this thread seems a bit premature and reactionary. I agree the defense played with a lot of heart today and a win is a win. But Michigan just looks awful and if our offense was even remotely good we should have won by 3 TD's with the defensive effort we gave. Our offensive play calling is terrible and what will you all be saying if we get blown out next week? That's ok because it's Michigan State? I'm al for giving credit to Pelini and maybe letting him stay another year but let's clam down and put away the juice and see how the next three games play out before getting too excited with today's squeaker. We could easily be 5-4 right now but got lucky last week and prevailed today.
  21. Nope. Yep. You know we played South Dakota State today, right? Yes and i know our offense was a lot smoother than the first 3 games, now we have a running threat at qb. Am I missing something, Taylor used to run, run and run some more the first 2.5 years as our QB. Last year and this year he started passing more and especially this season seems he "can't" run or lost his explosiveness. Is this the offense under Beck or is Taylor hurt (obviously he has turf toe now) but has been banged up more than we know? Everyone is clamoring for Armstrong as if Taylor doesn't know how to run, but he started out as a running QB???
  22. Agreed. No way should we bench Martinez. He deserves to be the starter and how soon we forget he lit up the Bruins in the first half last week. And we played a lower-level team today, huge difference people!
  23. Couldn't have said it better myself. His maturity, wisdom and beliefs come shining through in that statement. What a wonderful man, coach and individual. It's funny, I worked for a NBA team for many years and had the chance to meet Jordan, Shaq, Barkley, etc, and it was always cool and people would ask me about it, but I would always tell them the one person I met who I was the most nervous and excited for was Tom Obsorne, just always looked up to him and admired him since I started watching NU football in the late 70's...
  24. In my opinion, it has nothing to do with whether NU fans are great, awful or whatever...it has nothing to do with what Tommie Frazier said. It has EVERYTHING to do with how our head coach conducts himself. Bo should have taken the high road with the Tommie tweet and should have never been caught saying the things he did about the two reporters and us the fans. It's as simple as that. You can have fire and passion for the game and your players but you can also find ways to show this without being a jerk. I am just simply tired of his antics. But more importantly, I am tired of having 3-4 losses every year in addition to blow-outs, record defensive lapses, no identity on offense and the list just goes on and on. Let's see how the season plays out and I am sure Bo will be judged by his wins and losses and this will blow over, but I am sure didn't help his cause.
