Here is another good one.... What if they hired Urban Meyer in 2003?

This is an excellent one. I’ve often thought about how things would’ve gone if Bo had gotten it in 2003. In some ways it’s kind of amazing it didn’t happen. So Steve fires Frank with allegedly an NFL head coach waiting in the wings. I believe this was alluded to by Harvey Perlman in an article a while back, he claimed it was going to be a “wow” hire. I think in a later article it was said to be Mike Sherman who was with Green Bay at the time. Obviously doesn’t happen.
So Steve is getting turned down left and right. Zimmer. Houston Nutt. Etc. I believe the search took over 40 days. He clearly had no plan and was caught completely flat footed. Steve had to have known this coaching search was becoming a disaster. He had to have known he made multiple critical mistakes. And the whole time he’s got a young, hot shot, fan favorite, D Coordinator that took over as interim and led the team to an inspired bowl win. Talk about an escape route.
Why wouldn’t Pederson just hire Bo? He could’ve sold it pretty easily. A young NFL defensive assistant, comes to Neb as a savior DC, takes over the head job and becomes the face of Neb’s future.
If Bo got the job I think he probably keeps most of the staff in place. Recruiting probably doesn’t drop off much, if at all, possibly even improving a bit under the new energy from the Bo hire.At worst they probably hover in that 7-5ish range with Bo never fully able to get over the hump. At best they could have very well made the 2005 or 2006 B12 Title Game, maybe even have won it in 2006 since OU was pretty pedestrian that year. Bo probably gets poached or given an extension and stays thru the B1G conference change and leaves some time around 2016, give or take.
I've thought about this scenario a million times and I really think he could have kept things rolling, the offense wouldn't have fallen off initially like it did with BC, as they would have kept running the same or similar system that the players were recruited for in the first place. Same story with the defense, no Cosgrove era.

What if..... Bo was hired as the HC after his interim HC bowl win in 2003?

OU and OK State were tied at the hip. A little game called Bedlam was a symbol of their rivalry. However, OU knows nothing about loyalty (aka Big 12 -OU screws their tradition rich rivalry with Nebraska). OU skips off with their master, Texas, to the SEC leaving OkState holding the wilting flower bouquet in their hands. Never say never when money is involved.
Oh and also - let's not forget Oregon leaving little brother Oregon State behind in what is now a 2 team conference.
Washington and Wazzu also

agree - he was the OC when Nebraska with Freshman Taylor Martenez had the shoot out at OSU - I was at the game and both offenses were dynamic.
Well i'll be damned... just looked it up and that game WAS higher scoring than I remember on the Okie St. side of things

I haven't looked through every post... but what about bumping the guy at TE back to being an analyst and Satt drop QB and add TE... then we would have an open spot for a QB coach

All I know is Rex Burkhead completed 75% of his passes in 2010 with 3 TDs and 100% of his passes in 2012.....

I'm pretty sure there was talk about a potential 7 way tie in either the BIG West or ACC Coastal (I forget which) some previous season. This doesn't seem like the first time I've heard of a 7 way tie possibility.
Yeah, it's fun to think about, but it's not going to happen.
I bet you're fun at parties...

What makes this season sort of worse is that we see how horrible the West really is, like, we always knew it was super lame but this year is even lamer.
So, basically this should be a Bo year, 6 conference wins, get smoked by 1 team, lose to a crap team, something like that. 9-3 with a lame bowl game against some 4th place SEC team.
Well, we already lost to Minny... got smoked by Michigan... so basically we are gonna win out!

Thunderstruck made a lot of sense when Thunder Collins was still suiting up.
I don't mind it for the light show, they just need to execute it better, the lights and fire are off time with "THUNDER" by about a second or so.
but in all seriousness, just win baby and you could play the Barney song for all I or anyone else would care

I voted for 9 wins, there isn't a game on the schedule that isn't winnable, except for maybe Michigan... I figure we drop that one and a couple of toss up games

Getting to Eugene is a b****.Is it though? or for who? Eugene has (according to Wikipedia) the 5th largest airport in the PNW and we both know none of the B1G teams are going to fly to Portland then bus down to Eugene.

Correct, but I'm pretty positive that we were being called that by opposing fans/teams/coaches/talking heads LONG before that was put on the walls... Still not what I would consider "self anointed"

How are we "self anointed" as the greatest fans in college football? Constantly being told we are and referred to as the greatest fans by other coaches/players/fan bases for decades does not makes us "self anointed"

That we never really ran until Tim Beck did it against Michigan that one time and it was awesome.
Yep, went for a TD and had Urban gushing. That play was awesome and I think we only saw it one more time after that and it wasn't executed properly so it failed miserably

Hell, Rothlisberger(sp?) went to Miami of Ohio

One thing we will never know, is how Bo would have fared if he would have had the support that from the administration that Frost did. Lots of different factors and its fun to speculate on what could have been with the ball bouncing the other way.

Nebraska's all whites against Colorados (mostly) all black would be cool

Or Crawford never wanted back in the first place and someone threw out the rumor he did. In the end it doesn't matter bc he is gone and who knows if he ever produces at a high level at Louisiana Tech. The player he reminds me of is Thomas Fidone. Hugh potential but injury prone.
Injury prone? he was here for a single season, I don't think a single injury classifies him as injury prone. Hell, I wouldn't necessarily classify Fidone as injury prone just yet either... we will see if he can remain healthy this season first
